Coco Gauff posts emotional TikTok about all the love at Liberty game
Tennis champ Coco Gauff had such a good time attending a New York Liberty game that it nearly made her cry.
In case you missed it, Gauff recently pulled off a gritty comeback at the French Open against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to win her second grand slam title. At just 21 years old, she showed an immense amount of mental toughness that a lot of young players don't have after she dropped the first set to the Belarusian. Gauff went on to win the following sets, 6-2 and 6-4, earning her some new hardware.
When you win the French Open, you rightfully go on a press tour, and while in New York talking about her win, Gauff stopped by a New York Liberty game. The Liberty and their fans celebrated Gauff by giving her a standing ovation as she sat courtside and even had a custom jersey ready to go after the game. What's more, she made a TikTok with the team before dropping her own video about her big night.
"The whole arena was cheering for me, which I wasn't expecting, just because it's not my sport. I'm at a basketball game. It just made me realize how many people see me. This is just crazy," Gauff said as she reflected. "I know in interviews, sometimes, I try to hold the emotions back, and like I'm right now trying to do ― I'm like feeling the tears coming ― it means a lot."
File this under things we love to see. Coco Gauff deserves it all.

WNBA Coach Confirms Stance on Knicks' Vacant Job

WNBA Coach Confirms Stance on Knicks' Vacant Job originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Liberty are off to a 9-0 start this season, leading the Eastern Conference by three games and being the only WNBA team to remain perfect. Advertisement The Liberty's success this season can be attributed to several factors, including the leadership of championship-winning head coach Sandy Brondello, who took over ahead of the 2022 season. Before joining the Liberty, she spent eight seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, guiding the team to the 2014 WNBA title and winning Coach of the Year that same year. In addition to her WNBA role, Brondello has served as head coach of the Australian women's national team since 2017. Advertisement Since the move, the Knicks have requested interviews with several head coaches currently employed by other NBA teams. In all five reported instances, their request was rejected. Brondello spoke to the media on Thursday, and with the Knicks' clear struggles to fill their vacancy known, one reporter asked her about a potential move to join them. Writer Geoff Magliocchetti reported, "Sandy Brondello, with a laugh, confirms that the Knicks have not contacted her about their head coaching vacancy." There remains no reason to believe Brondello is going anywhere, with her team sitting at a league-best undefeated record nearly a quarter of the way through the season.
