NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Check out community events around New Mexico from February 7 to 13.
February 7 ABQ Artwalk – For this edition, see art exhibits, performances, and art markets with vendors offering plenty of handmade Valentine's Day gifts. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m.
February 7-8 The Show – Albuquerque's longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.
February 8 Isotopes Job Fair – The Albuquerque Isotopes are hosting an in-person job fair to fill dozens of seasonal part-time positions needed to staff the nearly 100 scheduled events in 2025. The job fair will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Rio Grande Credit Union Field.
February 8 Love and Leashes Festival – A local non-profit, Mutts Made Miracles, is getting ready to hold an event to help raise funds for a woman who has taken in dozens of people and animals in the wake of the California wildfires. The event is at EXPO New Mexico from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
February 8 Love is in the Air Market – Come shop from amazing local vendors, stroll the shops, savor delicious food, and vibe to live music while soaking up the festive, love-filled energy. the event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
February 8 Free Valentine's Day Craft Workshop for Kids – Join Cottonwood Mall for a fun and free afternoon with three follow-along Valentine's crafts for kids to make and take. There will also be snacks and music. All supplies will be provided. The event is from 1 to 3 p.m.
February 8 War of the Peppers: Chili Cook-Off – Hollow Spirits hosts a chile/chili cook-off to raise money for local veterans. Entry fee is $25, and veterans entry fee is $20. Contestants set up at 11:30 a.m. and doors open at 12:30 p.m. for tasting.
February 8-9 Valentine Art Market at the Railyards – The Railyards will be booming with local flowers, chocolate, and so many more local goodies for everyone. This event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.
February 8-9 Expo New Mexico Flea Market – Come check out the food, vendors, and live entertainment at New Mexico's largest open-air market. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $2 for walk-ups and $10 per car for parking.
February 11 Music Bingo – Enjoy food, drinks, and friendly competition at Flock of Moons, every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
February 7 Give Kids a Smile Day – The San Juan College Dental Hygiene Program is teaming up with the Northwest District Dental Society to host 'Give Kids a Smile Day' from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the event, local dentists and dental hygiene students will offer free dental care to kids ages 5 to 12 in San Juan County.
February 7 Fine Art Flea Market – Visit downtown Las Cruces for live music, local food trucks, open mic, art walk, and artist booths from 5 to 10 p.m.
February 8 Sweetheart Auction – This Santa Fe event is held each February and features live and silent auctions of high-value items, unique art, priceless experiences, and sponsorship opportunities. Tickets cost $200 for general admission and $500 for a reserved table seat. Proceeds from the event go toward the foundation's work.
February 8 Father and Daughter Sweetheart Dance – Music, dancing, refreshments, and special memories are planned for this unique and fun event in Rio Rancho. Session 1 includes ages 5 to 8 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Session 2 includes ages 9 to 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
February 8 6th Annual Valentine Craft Fair – Visit Gallup for over 40 booths of homemade items for that special someone. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
February 8 Valentine's Day at the Spa – Hosted by Lower Lounge Spa in Clovis, the $25 ticket includes a free pamper set, all Lower Lounge spa services, and refreshments. The event is from 3 to 6 p.m.
February 8 Valentine's Pop-Up – Hobbs First Assembly hosts a one stop shop for all your Valentine's Day needs. Spend some time shopping and eating delicious food from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
February 9 Sunday Chess Club – Meet at Popolo's Games in Taos beginning at 1:00 p.m. This free event is for all ages.
February 10 Chess at the Movies – Visit the Violet Crown Cinema in Santa Fe on Monday nights for casual chess, great food, and movies. Play timed or untimed, against beginners all the way up to tournament veterans. Free to watch, play, or learn from the experts from 6 to 9 p.m.
February 11 New Mexico State Bar Foundation's Virtual Legal Webinar – The webinar aims to provide the elderly or their caretakers with the tools and resources they need to plan for the future. Attendees will learn about powers of attorney, advance health care directives, probate, non-probate transfers, including transfers on death deeds, and institutional Medicaid. The event will start at 11 a.m.
🔶 Department of Game and Fish to host Outdoor Adventures Show, Archery Tournament – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is welcoming the public to its Outdoor Adventures Show. The event will take place starting the weekend of February 14 at Expo New Mexico.
🔶 Albuquerque Animal Welfare offering free animal caregiver training – The Animal Welfare Department in Albuquerque is looking for some more caregivers for their dogs and cats and now they're offering free training to volunteers. Their orphan kitten and puppy caregiver classes start in March.
🔶 Albuquerque City Council rejects updated social media policy for city employees – Albuquerque city councilors rejected an updated list of rules for city employees to follow when using social media. The push comes five months after the Albuquerque Police Department's Director of Communication responded inappropriately to people using APD's X page, formerly known as Twitter.
🔶 African American Museum and Cultural Center of New Mexico putting on 'Love and Luther' event – The African American Museum and Cultural Center of New Mexico and the African American Performing Arts Center are celebrating Black History Month and the holiday of romance with a special event on February 14, 2025.
🔶 AREA working to improve downtown Albuquerque – The Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance (AREA) is a public charity that aims to grow and diversify the economic base of Albuquerque.
🔶 Sandia Peak Ski Area is temporarily closing – The Sandia Peak Ski Area says it is temporarily closing. In a post, the ski area announced that warm temperatures and limited snow conditions have led them to close until further notice.
🔶 Abandoned vehicles removed from mesa in Bernalillo County – The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office Open Space Units teamed up with Bernaliilo County Solid Waste to remove abandoned vehicles in the mesa.
🔶 Albuquerque City Council works on ordinance changes to deal with nuisance properties – Fires, trash buildup, run-down buildings, and more. The city of Albuquerque is trying to figure out what to do, about nuisance properties. City council is now ironing out the details of a proposal that would create new rules for property owners.
🔶 APD looking to help sex trafficking victims in efforts to stop human trafficking – As federal charges are now being filed against two people accused of sex trafficking teens in Albuquerque, the Albuquerque Police Department says officers are ramping up efforts to get victims out of the cycle.
🔶 Black Student Union at UNM celebrates 55 years on campus – The University of New Mexico is honoring Black History Month by celebrating its own big milestone. This year marks 55 years of activism for the Black Student Union, previously known as the Afro Studies Program, at UNM.

Taylor Ranger District, Cibola National Forest, McKinley County. The closure order will be in effect from February 11, 2025, at 2 p.m. through February 14, 2025 at 4 p.m.

🔶 Doña Ana County names new assistant county manager – Doña Ana County has a new assistant county manager, who is quite familiar with the County's operations. Doña Ana County named Stephen Lopez as its newest assistant county manager, effective Jan. 26, the County said in a news release on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
🔶 Bill would eliminate statute of limitations in civil cases for victims of childhood sexual assault – Lawmakers are trying to give victims of childhood sexual abuse a better chance to hold their abusers accountable with a new bill. The legislation would repeal the statute of limitations, for taking abusers to court for damages in civil court.
🔶 New Mexico Health Care Authority marks 50 years of child support program – The New Mexico Health Care Authority is celebrating a half-century of its child support program and they're inviting the community out to learn more.
🔶 Last chance for curbside debris removal in Chaves County – The final round of curbside debris removal in Chaves County is quickly approaching. Residents can place flood debris for pickup starting on Friday through February 28.
🔶 New Mexico Courts sending bilingual postcards to notify people of jury duty – If you are selected for jury duty in New Mexico, you will be getting a different kind of notification in the mail.
