Inspired by heritage cocoon cover-ups—garments once reserved for Egypt's royal family during King Farouk's reign—Shaker reinterprets their aristocratic elegance for today. 'In this capsule, I wanted to honor the essence of this holy month—the depth of emotions it carries—through glamour,' she shares.
The kimono silhouettes, crafted from brocade, feature solid motifs set against sheer backdrops, creating an ethereal contrast that adds depth without overwhelming the design. 'Each kimono is cut separately and requires an entire day to make,' Shaker reveals. The pieces follow a one-piece flat pattern, embracing a zero-waste approach, with 420 minutes of meticulous sewing dedicated to perfecting each garment.
