Alabama resident 'warns' Afrikaner refugees
A clip of a black Alabama resident 'warning' Afrikaner 'refugees' about moving to their state has gone viral.
This comes after 49 white South Africans made the 'trek' to the US under President Donald Trump's resettlement programme.
The group – which will largely settle in the Southern state – claims that they are being 'persecuted' on the basis of their race.
In a clip that was posted on X, two black female Alabama residents express their shock that Afrikaner 'refugees' will now take up residence in their state.
One of the women dramatically says, 'Alabama? Lord help them. They better not talk to these people, they better not run into black people, or you'll be missing. Pray for them.'

Elsewhere, an opinion writer on Alabama news site Al.com wrote of their new Afrikaner neighbours: 'Y'all shouldn't be here.
'Y'all shouldn't have been able to skip the line. Y'all should not be here before the tens of thousands of people throughout the world who, just like you, were vetted and prepared to leave their homeland — who must leave out of true fear for their lives. But were denied, not expedited'.
Meanwhile, NGO Inspiritus will assist the Afrikaner 'refugees' as they settle down in Alabama. The organisation has helped displaced people who had fled countries with 'violence, war and persecution', and now 'white genocide'. However, the resettlement programme was halted by US President Donald Trump earlier this year.
'I feel like it's disrespectful to the refugees that we are assisting and helping, who are running from violence and forced displacement, to be helping this population,' an employment specialist within the organisation told Al.com.
Outright shunning of the Afrikaner refugees is the US's Episcopal Church, who were initially tasked with resettling the minority community.
Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe said: 'It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others who have been waiting in refugee camps or dangerous conditions for years'.

This week, the Daily News had the opportunity to engage directly with the Chinese Consul General in Durban, Li Zhigong, who showcased the vast opportunities for tourism and travel between China and South Africa. With a shared vision of fostering stronger bilateral ties, the consul general outlined strategic initiatives aimed at not just facilitating travel but also enriching the cultural exchange between the two nations. One of the primary focuses of the Consulate General is to promote high-level exchanges between sister cities and provinces. "These efforts help spark greater interest in China among local communities and foster closer people-to-people ties," Li explained. Efforts include enhanced communication and collaboration on tourism initiatives, underpinned by a commitment to mutual understanding and friendship. In a notable development this year, the consulate has initiated an express visa option, designed to streamline the application process for Chinese tourists wishing to visit South Africa. "The express visa can be processed within three to four working days with simple and user-friendly requirements," Li said. This is a significant improvement, especially when the visa process has previously been a major hurdle for potential visitors. For South African tourism operators eager to attract Chinese visitors, Li offered several crucial recommendations. He urged operators to tailor their offerings to better meet the preferences of Chinese visitors. "This includes providing services in Chinese, accepting payment methods like UnionPay and Alipay, and promoting destinations through Chinese social media platforms," he said. Cultural sensitivity and a welcoming atmosphere are also vital in creating memorable travel experiences for Chinese tourists. The consul general acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced in attracting more tourists due to the complexities surrounding the visa application process. "We are actively engaging with the South African Department of Home Affairs, as obtaining a South African visa remains time-consuming and difficult for Chinese citizens," Li said, As for South Africans considering travel to China, the consulate has specific travel guidelines aimed at ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. According to Li, visitors are encouraged to meticulously plan their itineraries and familiarise themselves with essential apps such as WeChat, Alipay, and translation tools, as these are critical for navigating the vast cultural landscape. He added that key destinations such as Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai are highly recommended and travellers are advised to respect local customs and be aware of the legal framework to ensure a harmonious visit. "We truly hope more South Africans will visit China to see and experience more for themselves. Will Joslin Smith state witness get indemnity or face JAIL?
The state witness in the Joslin Smith trafficking trial, Laurentia Lombaard, is awaiting her fate of indemnity or a prison sentence in a special hearing under the Western Cape High Court. The woman – a former accused who turned State 204 witness – has previously stated under oath that the missing girl's mother, Kelly Smith, allegedly sold her daughter to a sangoma for R20 000. Last week, Kelly, her boyfriend Jacquin 'Boeta' Appollis, and pal Steveno van Rhyn were sentenced to life in prison for trafficking and kidnapping. The trio has 14 days to apply for leave to appeal the sentence. Joslin went missing from her home in Saldanha Bay on 19 February 2024. She has not been found. Speaking to the SABC, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) prosecutor Zelda Swanepoel revealed Western Cape High Court Judge Nathan Erasmus would hear evidence and arguments from both the prosecution and the defense pertaining to state witness, Laurentia Lombaard. He would impose her sentence in a separate hearing. Swanepoel said: 'We will be called upon to argue and indicate why we say she should or should not be granted indemnity. Laurentia Lombaard – a State 204 witness – previously stated under oath that Joslin Smith's mother, Kelly Smith, allegedly sold her to a sangoma for R20 000. Lombaard also claimed in her testimony that Kelly had offered her R1 000 in 'hush money'. She added that she had not received the money, even after confronting Kelly about it. Late last year, charges were withdrawn against Lombaard, who was granted provisional indemnity from criminal prosecution. However, her credibility was questioned when she admitted to lying to police in a recorded statement after Joslin Smith's disappearance. Her version of events from her March 2024 statement differs from her confession to police in October, when she agreed to turn state witness. In court, she admitted to being under the influence of drugs when making the initial statement. According to the Criminal Procedure Act, a Section 204 witness can receive indemnity from criminal charges, provided that their testimony and evidence help incriminate the accused. In the case of Joslin Smith, the NPA offered Lombaard witness protection in exchange for her testimony against Kelly Smith, Boeta Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn, who have since been convicted and sentenced. If the court does find that Lombaard did not testify truthfully, she could face prosecution for perjury and related charges.
