West Ham 0-1 Brentford - the fans' verdict

BBC News17-02-2025

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between West Ham and Brentford. Here are some of your comments:West Ham fans:Hamed: No game strategy evident. No tactical adjustments evident. Disinterested players, most making not much effort. Graham Potter is clearly at a loss as to what to do. If we had lost 5-0, that scoreline would have flattered us. We are relegation fodder. Are those who whined to get rid of David Moyes happy with their handiwork? I am not.Mark: The disappointment is the amount of time we have had to prepare for this game. Brentford could have been 4-0 up in the first half. That's not an exaggeration. Evan Ferguson came on in the second half and he andJames Ward-Prowse got us on the front foot. A draw was the minimum expected from this game.Madge: Strange selection by Potter. Senseless to play Lucas Paqueta up front when Jarrod Bowen can do it better and we were overloaded on the right flank. That said, atrocious first half. As poor as it has ever been. Brentford could and should have been four up! The changes immediately helped but Mohammed Kudus' miss sums it all up. We could have played all year and not scored. Glad Ward-Prowse is back though. We almost had a midfield in the second half!Simon: Two weeks of training to serve up the same old slow sideways nonsense first half. The high line against quick forwards was never going to end well. They could have been three up at the break.Brentford fans: Peter: Great first-half performance, but failed to put away a number of excellent chances, giving West Ham something to chase in the second half. A solid defensive display allowing us to keep a clean sheet and earn a third consecutive away win.Philip: Brilliant to get three away wins in a row for the first time! Come on you Bees!

Callum Osmand Celtic transfer edges closer after sighting

Herald Sport sources understand the Fulham forward has been spotted at Lennoxtown on Thursday, as he finalises his move. The former Wales U17 international is on the cusp of completing his move to the Scottish Premiership champions from the Premier League club. Due to his contract expiring, despite Fulham offering him an extension, Celtic will only have to pay Fulham a development fee, similar to what they did when signing Moussa Dembele from the same club back in 2016. In 22 appearances last season in all competitions for Fulham's U21 side, Osmand made 22 appearances, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further four in all competitions. He will join Kieran Tierney in arriving at Celtic Park from England, with his return from Arsenal officially completed last week. With the transfer of Benjamin Nygren from FC Nordsjaelland seemingly nearing completion, as well as talks with Royal Antwerp's Michel-Ange Balikwisha, the Scottish champions are busy in the early stages of this transfer window.

Club World Cup match suspended with fans told to leave stands and 'get inside'

Another Fifa Club World Cup match has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions with spectators ordered to 'take shelter inside the stadium'. Brazilian side Palmeiras were leading Egyptian outfit Al Ahly 2-0 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey when Premier League referee Anthony Taylor was ordered to halt play just after the hour mark. With lightning in the nearby area, a message displayed on big screens around the stadium urged fans to get inside. The MetLife Stadium is one of the venues hosting games at next summer's World Cup. 'Your attention please. For your safety, we are going to have everyone leave the Seating Bowl area and take shelter inside the stadium because of severe weather in the area,' the message read. 'Event staff are available to guide and assist you. Those on the field, please walk calmy to the nearest tunnel, to the West Hall, or the service corridor.' More Trending It is the third time a match has been suspended since the revamped competition began on Sunday. Red Bull Salzburg's clash with Mexican side Pachuca was suspended as torrential rain hit the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati in the early hours of the morning. That came after the group match between Mamelodi Sundown and Ulsan HD was delayed by almost an hour.
