A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a Scots businessman in Kenya.

The body of the 58-year-old, from Dunfermline, Fife, was discovered in the Makongo Forest, about 60 miles from Nairobi on February 23, days after the he was reported missing during a work conference.
He was allegedly discovered by local herders with his hands and feet bound in a sack of pineapples which been left in undergrowth.
Mutua was accused of committing the offence alongside other suspects but denied the charges.
Prosecution lawyers told the court that they had filed an affidavit opposing bail, and the court directed them to submit the affidavit within three days formally.
Additionally, the court ordered that a pre-bail report be prepared within 21 days.
Campbell had been in the African nation for a business meeting in the capital Nairobi but was reported missing on February 17.
It is believed he had been tricked and murdered.
One of the suspects wanted for his murder, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, is said to have attempted to take poison before stabbing himself to death in a hideout in Nairobi's Dandora estate.
Other suspects still on the run are Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, alias Edu, and Bernard Mbunga Mbusu.
Mutua is expected to appear in court on June 17 for a pre-trial and a hearing on the bail application.
Campbell's husband Simon Farrar posted on social media last month that he is planning a tribute so friends can pay their respect to the business chief, who has been described as having a 'heart of gold'.
It said: 'The 'Moaning' of Life, a celebration for the life of Campbell Scott.
'In London, Saturday 31st May 2025. More information to follow!!'
Friends were quick to respond, with one writing: 'I miss you Campbell and all the devious laughs we used to have. There is no better medicine that (sic) laughter and you were my pharmacy.'

Mike said: ' Campbell is a man who is celebrated by people around the world in many languages on every continent.
'And as I think about my own friendship with him I remember how many of us around the world were privileged to know him and call him a friend.'

More funding to tackle youth violence in Scotland announced amid Record campaign
The Record launched the Our Kids ... Our Future campaign in February 2023 after we highlighted a worrying trend of violence among teens. More funding has been announced to tackle youth violence in Scotland after a Daily Record campaign to combat the issue. The Scottish Government confirmed it would be investing an additional £82,000 in the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU) this year. The move comes amid the Record's applauded youth violence campaign, Our Kids ... Our Future, which was launched two years ago after we highlighted a worrying trend of violence among teens. As part of the campaign, we have repeatedly called on the Scottish Government to invest in youth clubs and in other ways to help young people as the epidemic unfortunately shows no signs of stopping in Scotland. The cash injection comes as part of a Scottish Government package to tackle violence. It takes funding for the year to £1.217 million - an increase of 7%. Medics Against Violence have also received increased funding of up to £345,000 to deliver a range of activities. A further £156,000 has also been awarded to the Mentors in Violence Prevention programme. The Record launched Our Kids ... Our Future in February 2023 after we reported the shocking assault of autistic schoolgirl Abbie Jarvis at a skatepark in Glasgow on October 4, 2022. Abbie, then 12, was lured to the facility in the city's Drumchapel and beaten unconscious in an attack which left her in hospital for two days. She has since been diagnosed with PTSD. Abbie's attack prompted many other parents of child victims to speak out about scenes of youth violence in Scotland, including Vicky Donald, whose 15-year-old daughter was battered on her way home from school in Ladybank in Fife just weeks later. Since its launch, the Record has reported on three blade tragedies including the untimely deaths of 16-year-old Kory McCrimmon on May 31, 2024, Amen Teklay, 15, on March 5 this year and Kayden Moy, 16, on May 17 just last month. Three teenage boys aged 14, 15, and 16 have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Amen, an Eritrean refugee, in Glasgow's Maryhill. In recent weeks, three teenage boys – a pair aged 17 and a 14-year-old – have appeared in court charged with the murder of Kayden, who was allegedly attacked on Irvine Beach in North Ayrshire, and died in hospital. And just last month, a 14-year-old boy was sentenced to five years detention after admitting culpable homicide following the death of Kory at Glasgow's Greenfield Park last year. 'Our work remains focused on ensuring our prevention and punishment measures respond to the changing behaviours of young people. This includes ensuring good school and community engagement with young people, appropriate police powers and tackling the root causes of violence."

Pedestrian in hospital after hit-and-run involving SUV in Scots town
Cops say the silver older-style SUV involved in the collision drove off. A man is in hospital after he was struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run in a Scots town. Emergency services raced to the incident on Park Road in Port Seton, East Lothian, at 1.20am on Sunday. Police and paramedics attended and the pedestrian, a 43-year-old man, was found injured. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. His current condition is unknown. Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Particularly, they want those with dash-cam or CCTV footage to come forward. Detective Sergeant Garry Mauran said: "Our inquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and trace the driver and the car involved. "If you witnessed this take place or saw a silver car being driven erratically in the Port Seton area, please contact us. "Anyone in the area is asked to check their dashcam or personal footage and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation." Information should be passed to Police Scotland by phoning 101 quoting incident number 0264 of 8 June.
