Lake Harriet eatery Bread & Pickle to launch food truck this summer

Yahoo14-05-2025

Bread & Pickle, the popular pavilion eatery at Lake Harriet, will experiment with new weeknight fare this summer with the launch of its first-ever food truck.
Bring Me The News spoke with Bread & Pickle owner Kim Bartmann, of Placemaker Hospitality, on opening day of the restaurant's 15th season Monday.
"We're looking forward to another amazing summer," Bartmann said, noting daily breakfast service will begin after Memorial Day and the food truck will launch in mid-June.
Bartmann said the new food truck, which will operate near the band shell on weeknights, will allow Bread & Pickle to experiment with new offerings, such as tacos.
At the pavilion eatery, Bread & Pickle's usual lineup of sandwiches and wraps, bratwurst and hotdogs, salads and other picnic-style fare is back.
The restaurant supports an array of local farmers and producers and it's continuing to serve hamburgers made exclusively with the top-shelf, chef-favorite Peterson Limousin Beef.
The new season brings some additions to the local craft beer lineup, and a small pour or large pour option has been added to the wine menu.
While an organic, Austrian rosé on tap is among Bartmann's personal recommendations for the afternoon or evening, her favorite time to visit Bread & Pickle is in the early morning.
Breakfast service begins daily at 7 a.m., with an organic egg and cheddar breakfast sandwiches for $7 among the offerings.
"It's a dog parade and still cool in the morning," Bartmann said.
Early morning visitors can also enjoy free, daily yoga classes from the Lake Harriet Yoga Project.

Two new restaurants coming soon to Burnsville Center

Two new restaurants coming soon to Burnsville Center originally appeared on Bring Me The News. Two new restaurants are coming soon to Burnsville Center, bringing flavors from South Korea and Japan to the former Applebee's space. Chingu Korean Fried Chicken promises Korean street food classics and, of course, chicken wings. No opening date has been announced, but the restaurant is teasing a grand opening announcement on social media. "From saucy wings to loaded fries and all the bold Korean flavors you crave — your new favorite chicken spot is almost here," the restaurant shared. Kyo Matcha, which has roughly a dozen U.S. locations, is also in the works. The Burnsville cafe will be Kyo Matcha's second in the Twin Cities, joining Minnesota's first location that opened in Richfield last year. The matcha cafe focuses on drinks and desserts featuring high-quality matcha. "Due to the influence of the Japanese-style matcha culture, the Kyoto Matcha is based on the brand mission of 'Let the Tea Return to the Forest', rooted in the traditional Japanese tea culture and dedicated to the promotion of Matcha culture," the cafe's website shares. The menu includes a wide range of photo-worthy treats. There's a brown sugar boba milk cake, a peach oolong crepe layer cake and many others - including whipped cream-stuffed cakes delicately rolled to look like a towel. One of the destination's signature treats is the matcha ice cream parfait, which features cornflakes, red beans and rice mochi. Over on the mall's northern extension, the wait continues for the long-delayed Asian supermarket and food hall transforming the former Gordman's space. No opening date has been announced. Pause in ECB rate cuts could last a while, policymaker Holzmann tells Austrian TV

VIENNA (Reuters) -The current pause in European Central Bank rate cuts could be long-lasting unless economic data worsens, in which case there could be further rate cuts this year, policymaker Robert Holzmann told Austrian broadcaster ORF on Monday. "It could be that the pause lasts a while," he said when asked if there would be further rate cuts this year, adding each rate decision was based on the data available at that time. "If economic developments worsen, there could be further interest-rate cuts."
