General Baqeri: We'll erect navy base in Oman Sea, Indian Ocean
Tehran - Saba:
"We will establish a number of naval bases as needed, the first step being in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, in the following steps all over the world to protect our maritime interests, waterways, and naval fleets," the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said on Thursday.
Tasnim International News Agency reported that Major General Baqeri, on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony of the drone carrier "Martyr Bahman Baqeri", praised the initiative of the IRGC Navy to utilize a commercial ship and establish a multi-purpose naval base, describing it as a valuable step.
Establishing mobile naval ships and mobile naval bases is one of the ways to enhance the country's naval capabilities, he added.
"So far, a number of naval ships have been activated in the IRGC Navy and the Iranian Navy, and they are now in the process of carrying out their missions."
Major General Baqeri referred to the capabilities of this new ship, saying: "This ship has the ability to transport fast missile-equipped boats, multi-mission drones, and helicopters, in addition to a missile defense capability to protect it from air and sea threats. In a word, it is a suitable naval capability in distant areas to defend Iran's interests and the security of various waterways for its commercial and oil fleet."
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces said this path will continue, saying: "We will establish a number of naval bases of this type as needed, the first step being in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, and in the following steps all over the world to protect our maritime interests, waterways, and naval fleets, which will bring security to our trade."
He pointed to the miscalculation made by the enemy in its assessment of Iran's capabilities, saying: "The enemy made a mistake in its calculations regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's capabilities, sustainable deterrence, and the will of the Iranian people and armed forces to defend their interests and achieve their goals."
Major General Baqeri added: During these two months, a small part of Iran's capabilities has been displayed.
"Inputs of various capabilities have been implemented in the Iranian Navy, the IRGC Navy, the army's drones, and other dimensions, and new capabilities have been added to our armed forces.. Various exercises have been conducted and more will be conducted, and these exercises demonstrate the capabilities and readiness of our armed forces."
Major General Baqeri stressed the increasing readiness of the armed forces to defend the country.. noting that "our enemies have received the necessary messages and realized that we are becoming more prepared day after day to defend our homeland, and that there is no threat that can have any meaning or impact on our country."
