How should Hibs address keeper position this summer?
Given the stellar job Jordan Smith has done for Hibernian since being brought into the side in November, it feels somewhat harsh to question his future in the team.
But with fellow goalkeepers Josef Bursik (loan from Club Brugge expiring) and Max Boruc (out of contract) set to be leaving, the Leith side will have to strengthen that position.
The question is whether Hibs look to upgrade on Smith, who was rewarded with a new deal until 2028 in March, or find an understudy for the 30-year-old.
Diving deep into the numbers, they suggest finding someone better than the former Nottingham Forest keeper could be a struggle.
Out of players to have played at least 10 Scottish Premiership games this season, only Celtic's Kasper Schmeichel (76%) boasts a better save percentage than Smith (73%).
As well as that, only Schmeichel and Rangers' Liam Kelly have a better goals-conceded-per-game average.
Meanwhile, according to FotMob, Smith has prevented an expected goals tally of almost three.
Those numbers mark a huge upgrade on Bursik, who started the first 13 league games of the season. Hibs only won one of those.
Remarkably, after Smith's introduction to the team, David Gray's side went on to lose just three of their final 25 Premiership matches.
Given the work the Englishman has put in to become number one and improve the team, he will not give that up easily regardless of who the club bring in this summer.

Socialist Kshama Sawant announces bid to defeat U.S. Rep. Adam Smith
Former socialist Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant announced Monday that she's running to unseat longtime U.S. Rep. Adam Smith. Smith, a Democrat, has represented Washington's 9th Congressional district for nearly three decades. The district stretches over portions of Seattle and Bellevue, as well as Seattle's southeast suburbs. Sawant served on Seattle City Council from 2014 to 2024. She left that role last year to launch Workers Strike Back, a national labor movement. In a Federal Election Commission document filed last week, Sawant is listed as an Independent. 'Most of the time, working people have no political representation under capitalism,' Sawant said Monday during a livestreamed news conference. 'Both the Democrats and Republicans serve the interests of the billionaires, and both are war-mongering parties down to their bones.' Early in her political career, Sawant spearheaded a push to secure a $15 hourly minimum wage for Seattle. She has fought to impose more taxes on big businesses such as Amazon and is an advocate for rent-control efforts. Sawant is calling for 'an immediate end to the genocidal war and occupation of Gaza,' according to her campaign website. She wants to see more funding for health care, schools and jobs, and is demanding that the U.S. cease all military aid to 'both the Israeli state and the bloody inter-imperialist proxy war in Ukraine.' Sawant has also criticized Smith as 'pro-corporate' and a 'warmonger.' 'We aren't going to stop right-wing attacks and defeat Trump by staying silent and allowing Democrats like Adam Smith to remain in power,' she said at Monday's event. In a statement to McClatchy, Smith welcomed Sawant to the race. But he contends Sawant played a part in ensuring President Donald Trump's return to the White House by campaigning against Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, and for Green Party candidate Jill Stein. The Congress member said Sawant deployed 'divisive' and 'extreme' tactics during her time on Seattle City Council. 'Voters in Washington's 9th Congressional District deserve thoughtful, effective leadership focused on real results — not ideological stunts,' he said. 'This election will offer a clear contrast, and I look forward to the challenge.' At the June 2 campaign announcement, Sawant condemned other progressive Democrats. She took aim at U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, accusing them of having long since yielded to their party's 'corporate and war-mongering agenda.'

Truth be told this is not a column where the headline is shouting outrage, where Alberta against Ottawa sounds like an old-school wrestling cage match. You know the headline. DANIELLE SMITH SLAMS MARK CARNEY. Alberta premier says Prime Minister Carney is just another Justin Trudeau. That IS NOT the headline this day because that is NOT the story. Canada's premiers met with Carney Monday and Smith came out of the gabfest … very encouraged. She wasn't gushing like Ontario Premier Doug Ford who sung Love Is In The Air and compared Carney to Santa Claus. Ford, after all, is Carney's BFF. But Smith was feeling pretty good. We still have no idea whether or not Smith's idea of an oil pipeline to the west coast will be fast-tracked as a nation-building project by the Carney government but the Alberta premier is very encouraged. We still have no idea whether what Smith calls the Nine Terrible Laws, Liberal anti-oil policies, are going to be killed or rewritten by Carney. You know, the cap on oil and gas emissions and the No More Pipelines law and the tanker ban off the B.C. coast and the net-zero electricity regulations and the list goes on. Despite what the future may hold, Smith is happy to tell you she feels Carney is way better than former prime minister Justin Trudeau. When asked by this scribbler how she rates Monday's meeting — 10 means bring out the champagne and one is a sit-down with Steven Guilbeault, Trudeau's green guru — Smith put it as a five. A five out of 10 on your kid's math test is not good news but five out of 10 with a Liberal prime minister is apparently reason to be optimistic. 'Remember, Trudeau had the moment when he said what his true views were, that the oilsands would have to be kept in the ground. 'He had an environment minister who kept on talking about phasing out oil and gas and he never reined him in and, in fact, he gave him license to pass terrible laws to do just that.' Smith then points to Carney, who the premier says sidelined Guilbeault, the environment minister under Trudeau, made Tim Hodgson — who has built pipelines in the past — his point man on oil and gas and talks about Canada being an energy superpower. 'That should give Albertans some reason for optimism.' The Alberta premier adds most Albertans are telling her to give Carney a chance. 'At the moment he is demonstrating he is moving in a different direction than his predecessor. I'm prepared to work with him.' And so we are left to see how the next act unfolds. 'It will become evident pretty quickly whether or not it's real or whether it's smoke or mirrors. 'At the moment I don't know the answer to that. Heading into the playoffs, many thought that a Super Bowl run would be in store. USA Today analyst Tyler Dragon has connected Detroit to Za'Darius Smith. Of course, Smith finished the 2024 season with the team and played well after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns before the trade deadline. "Smith is at his best when he plays opposite a standout pass rusher at this stage of his career," Dragon wrote. "A sign that points right back to where he played last year in Detroit. Lions star edge Aidan Hutchinson was cleared to return for football activities in late May." Following his trade to the Lions, Smith played in eight games. He racked up 12 total tackles to go along with four sacks and a defended pass. In the previous nine games with the Browns, he totaled 23 tackles and five sacks. Depending on the price tag, Detroit should seriously consider bringing him back. Having too much depth is never a thing for a Super Bowl contender. Smith is about as good as pass rushing depth can get. While the Lions may not have interest in reuniting with Smith, he fits well with the Dan Campbell mindset. His career is also winding down, which would make returning to Detroit and competing for a championship a likely route he'd be interest in taking.
