Miami Housewives' Larsa Pippen knows a few things about dating. Let her help you

Miami Herald31-05-2025
Larsa Pippen is well aware that her love life is under a microscope.
It's been this way for years, since her high profile divorce from NBA legend Scottie Pippen Jr. in 2021.
In the years since, the 'Real Housewives of Miami' star has been linked to a number of eligible (and not so eligible) men who happen to also be linked to the sport of basketball.
There was former Minnesota Timberwolves player Malik Beasley, who was married with a small child at the time of their fling. Earlier this month while on 'The Jason Lee Show' Pippen called the 2021 affair 'a mistake,' and blamed it on 'COVID brain.'
Pippen's next big headline-making relationship was with another younger suitor, Marcus Jordan. The UCF alum is the son of Michael Jordan, who played on the Chicago Bulls with her ex husband, and hoops fans just couldn't get wrap their heads around that one.
Since that on-off situationship ended, Pippen hasn't exactly flipped the script. The reality vet is currently stepping out with pro basketball player Jeff Coby, who is younger (31), but not married.
Is Coby a keeper? That's unclear, but Pippen certainly seems content, almost giddy. So much so that she wants to help other women find their soulmates now that's she off the market.
Pippen is launching a free dating app called Date.com. The platform is committed to safety, privacy and security through facial recognition and AI technology, she told the Miami Herald in a recent interview. Meaning users won't get scammed or catfished, as all photos are verified, and no one's identity or credit card information is sold.
'Date.com is dedicated to eliminating wasted time and minimizing risks by thoroughly verifying each member and curating high quality, pre-screened matches,' reads a press release.
FYI: We downloaded it, and, no, you can't just post some random photo of yourself, or someone else for that matter. If you shell out $69 for the so called concierge package, they'll throw in added security measures such as a background check and send you invites to fancy events.
Pippen helped come up with the idea a few months ago with local partners, real estate investor Greg Mirmelli and software entrepreneur Umut Tekin, when she was unattached.
'I was single, and all my friends were single, and we were like, we can't just keep going to all these dating sites, and exchanging our numbers with random guys.'
With Date.com, you speak to the individual in the actual app, available on Google Play or the App Store. If all goes well, you can move off of it into real life, Pippen says.
Ironically, while putting the app project together, Pippen happened upon her new man without any digital assistance — at the gym.
The fact that Pippen is with yet another basketball player isn't lost on her at all. The Chicago native knows the sport well, and not only really likes it but follows it religiously. Oldest son Scottie Jr., 24, is a point guard with the Memphis Grizzlies and their other two sons, recent LMU grad Preston, 22, and UC Berkeley student Justin, 19, also dabble.
'I know some people wish I was with someone with a different profession but it's so much fun,' she says. 'My kids are athletes. It's just a part of my life and I've been around it so long.'
The only downside to having an athletes as boyfriends? They keep you on your toes.
'Oh my God, Jeff trains me so hard,' Pippen says. 'I feel like he's getting me ready for the WNBA.'
Housewives and tequila
Working on her body and her app aren't the only things that are consuming Pippen's time lately. She's a new homeowner, having just bought a house in the Miami area, while still keeping her flashy downtown penthouse. Hanging in the 'burbs has been an adjustment, to say the least. Just a few weeks ago, Pippen encountered a snake inside the place.
'I was freaking out so bad that I called 911!' the mother of four recalls. 'I didn't know what to do but I learned the hard way. The police gave me the number [for a trapper]. It was insane.'
Reptiles aside, Pippen prefers a more chill existence away from the bright lights and noise.
'We used to have a lot of waterfront property in [Fort Lauderdale] and I missed my backyard,' she explains. 'I wanted to lay out, have a pool party.'
We can think of a few fellow Housewives that may get the invite, and a few who may not. Pippen's dynamic with the ladies is ever-evolving.
'I used to think that if you knew someone for a long time, they were going to be your best friend forever,' she says. 'Now I realize you can have just social friends who aren't really your close friends.'
Pippen is definitely way excited about the latest cast member, Shoma Group's Stephanie Shojaee, who took Dr. Nicole Martin's place.
'I love her so much,' Pippen says of the real estate developer. 'It was so nice to have her around because it's been the same mix for so long. With a new person, you can experience things all over again.'
If there's anyone Pippen's not happy to be around, she won't say and Bravo is notorious for keeping the drama/gossip tightly under wraps. We'll have to wait to see ourselves; the first episode of Season 7 premieres June 11.
'I feel like our franchise is so much fun,' Pippen allows. 'We enjoy shooting our show and some of us actually hang out off screen. So when you butt heads with someone you're always with it's easier to come back from it, because we're such good friends at the end of the day.'
Another project Pippen is working on is an organic tequila called Olujo.
Look for the booze's official launch on (where else?) Instagram. That's where Pippen boasts more than 5 million followers, putting her in the top 10 of most popular Real Housewives on social media.
Apparently, Pippen loves the Internet as much as it loves her.
'Before, when I was married and my kids were young, I didn't show that much of my life,' she says, adding with a laugh, 'Now I share literally everything... I think I'm overworked!'

Nets' Tyson Etienne reacts to getting Two-Way contract this summer

LAS VEGAS -- Brooklyn Nets guard Tyson Etienne came into the 2025 Las Vegas Summer League being one of the Two-Way players on the roster along with forward Tosan Evbuomwan. While Etienne already had his place on Brooklyn's roster, he still played in the summer league to show what he can do while also displaying his love for the game. "Man, extremely grateful. I've always loved the Nets organization even when I was a young kid growing up," Etienne said following last Sunday's 102-96 loss to the Washington Wizards. Etienne, born in New York, had his best game of the summer league as he dropped 15 points and three assists in 23 minutes against Tre Johnson and the Wizards at Thomas & Mack Center. "To be a part of this organization, be a part of this team building in Brooklyn, is something I really cherish. I take big, big pride and honor in that," Etienne continued before explaining what Brooklyn expects from him moving forward. "Bring the energy, bring that Brooklyn grit, you know? Bring what we're building, bringing that culture to the floor every time on the court, and that energy being able to knock down shots and be shots and be a great teammate." Etienne, 25, came into the NBA as an undrafted free-agent out of the 2022 NBA Draft following a three-year career at Wichita State. Etienne found himself getting some NBA minutes last season with the Nets after the team decided to give some other players a look once it became clear that the team wasn't going to make the postseason or the play-in tournament. Etienne played seven games for Brooklyn towards the end of the season and he averaged 7.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 32.7% from the field and 29.5% from three-point land. While Etienne's role with the team next season is left to be seen, he is still cherishing the chance to be on the team that is rewarding him for his work to get to the next level.

Insider says Lakers are working on a 'consolidation' trade to avoid waiving Jordan Goodwin

Marcus Smart, a three-time All-Defensive first team selectee and the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season, is heading to the Los Angeles Lakers. On Saturday, he agreed to a buyout of his contract with the Washington Wizards and agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers for $11 million over two years once he clears waivers. In order to actually be able to officially sign Smart, the Lakers need to clear some space under the first apron of the salary cap. They plan on waiving guard Shake Milton, but they need to make one more move in order to legally give Smart the contract he agreed to. They could waive guard Jordan Goodwin, whom they called up from the G League at midseason. But Goodwin showed promise as a potential 3-and-D player, and he may be someone they would want to keep around if possible. According to ClutchPoints Lakers insider Anthony Irwin, the team is working on a consolidation trade that they could execute very soon. Goodwin, a 26-year-old undrafted player, averaged 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 18.7 minutes as a member of the Lakers. He shot 38.2% from 3-point range and consistently hustled for loose balls and rebounds while playing some energetic defense. Ideally, L.A. would pull off a trade that would save it some money and clear a roster spot while bringing in a 3-and-D wing. But doing so won't be easy, especially if other teams around the league are dead-set against helping L.A. win its 18th NBA championship.

Luka Doncic isn't acting as if he doesn't want to stay with Lakers

At this point in the offseason, the attention for the Los Angeles Lakers has just begun to shift to Luka Doncic and the contract extension he will be eligible to sign starting on Aug. 2. He can sign a four-year deal worth as much as $228 million, but he may instead opt to sign a shorter-term extension that would allow him to opt out in 2028 and then receive a supermax deal. There has been a bit of anxiety regarding whether Doncic will stay with the Lakers past this coming season, especially since they may not have a truly championship-caliber roster. They got veteran guard Marcus Smart, the NBA's 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, to agree to sign with them on Saturday after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards, but they still need a little more help. Doncic reportedly helped recruit Smart, and as Dan Woike of The Athletic pointed out, the superstar appears to be acting like someone who wants to wear the Purple and Gold for a while. "While Dončić hasn't directly addressed his future with the franchise this summer — time he's spent in Europe putting together an all-time revenge glow-up — his actions behind the scenes crystalize why the Lakers are confident with how things stand," Woike wrote. "Dončić, according to league sources, had communicated his desires for a capable rim-running center, shooting help and defensive support. The Lakers responded by filling those needs with Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia and, soon, Marcus Smart. "In addition to that, league sources said, Dončić has been an active recruiter for the Lakers this summer and helped secure commitments from Ayton and Smart after both unexpectedly hit free agency via contract buyouts. "The Lakers also posted an interview with Dončić on Saturday (taped during the season) that ended with him saying that he hoped his legacy with the Lakers would leave him known as 'the guy that brought championships to the city.' "All of it has the Lakers confident they're in alignment with Dončić in their plans to build a championship roster. "None of this is to say that Dončić was going to patiently wait for next summer or a talent-rich 2027 free agency crop for the Lakers to begin stacking their team. While Dončić and the Lakers understand their long-term flexibility needs, the short-term movement has, on paper, signaled a commitment to competing in the short term, provided some things break their way." Los Angeles landed Doncic in that stunning trade on Feb. 1 that sent out Anthony Davis, Max Christie and draft compensation. It signaled a shift in who the franchise revolves around, as it is now catering to Doncic after bending to almost every one of LeBron James' whims for nearly seven years. Despite persistent rumors that he may want to leave, James is expected to be with the Lakers once the new season starts, and possibly even beyond this coming season. Given that this could very well be his last season with them, they seem to have every incentive to try to win the NBA championship right now.
