Balmain Resort 2026 Menswear Collection

Olivier Rousteing is still under 40. Yet he is also the third longest-standing non-founder creative director in ready-to-wear luxury fashion (after evergreen Véronique Nichanian at Hermès menswear and the mighty Ian Griffiths of Max Mara). So even as fashion cycles through its latest red wedding moment, Rousteing's combination of veteran experience and youthful potential allows him to take a pragmatic and sanguine view.
Speaking in his office, he said: 'A designer needs to change: to develop through reinvention. So it's not just only a house becoming bored of a designer and looking to change—the designer him or herself should become bored if they do not change how and what they do. You keep your DNA, but you make very different albums.'
At Balmain, Rousteing remains both signed to the label and committed to perpetual reinvention. The photography of these resort lookbooks reflected his intention to approach the collection from a fresh angle while deploying his deep expertise in the business to maximize its performance.
In womenswear, a focus on bouclé pieces in pastel checks (a little Clueless), black, and some racier color-combos kept aside in the showroom reflected the fact that around over 20% of Balmain's ready-to-wear pieces are in tweed. A seasonal floral reworked from a Pierre Balmain original was present in some of the multiple new fabrications of a growing core line of Balmain handbags; the Anthem (belt buckle), the Sync (chain), the Ébène (par-baked croissant), and the tightly-waisted Shuffle.
Knit bandage dresses and a split skirt floral aside, there was a notable step away from bodycon towards a focus on innovatively detailed oversized tailoring in wools including prince of wales check that often came cropped and placed in silhouette-skewing adjacency to matching microskirts and shorts. A coat so roomy you could put it on Airbnb came patterned with a felted Monet-esque print that reflected Pierre Balmain's artistic passions, Rousteing reported. His column-pediment wedge boots were delivered this season in a shearling fabrication as well as leathers and worn against lingerie dresses. Cocoon-like capes in peach or lemon cashmere were standout wardrobe pieces.
Menswear played a radical-conservative gambit of contrasting extreme tailoring—either angular and fitted, or oversized and softer—against denim, leather, or jacquard sportswear. Formal shoes were elevated from banaility by raised soles and extruded metal welting. You could see both bourgeois French paradigms and street silhouettes transposed to tailored fabrications. Lurking in the showroom were many non-shot but still highly photogenic pieces, including labyrinth pattern shirt-and-short sets, leather and wool stadium jacket blouson hybrids, and bouclé overshirts.
Said Rousteing: 'The real question is always what do you want to propose? And while my answer changes through the seasons, it also always relates to going back to the past and bringing it to the present in order to build the future. This is why I am always having this conversation with the original work of Pierre Balmain, and looking to express that dialogue in new ways.'

Alex Warren Beats Ed Sheeran's Historic Record

Alex Warren has scored perhaps the biggest breakout hit of 2025. "Ordinary" is a global sensation and has now led the charge on tallies around the world for several weeks, but fans in the United Kingdom got a head start and turned it into a smash months ago. As the singer-songwriter's introductory tune leads once again in the U.K., he breaks out of a tie with one of the biggest pop stars of the past several decades and shows just how huge his composition really is in that country. "Ordinary" leads the Official Singles chart for a twelfth consecutive frame. The tune has only spent 17 weeks on the list of the most consumed songs in the U.K., and it needed just about a month before it started running the show. Since rising to the top spot, it has yet to relent. Now that it's reached a dozen total frames at No. 1, "Ordinary" stands as the longest-running No. 1 on the Official Singles chart this decade, according to the Official Charts Company. That honor had been held by "Bad Habits" by Ed Sheeran, which ruled for 11 frames earlier in the 2020s. Three other cuts — "As It Was" by Harry Styles, "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus, and "Sprinter" by Dave and Central Cee — all lived on the throne for 10 weeks. Warren may be just getting started in several countries, but in the U.K., he's already scored half a dozen hits on the Official Singles chart. "Ordinary" is far and away his most successful, but it's not even his sole top 10. He reached the region with "Carry You Home," which debuted in June 2024. A year later, earlier this month, he joined with Jelly Roll on "Bloodline," which launched in the same position, at No. 9. He's also cracked the top 40 with "Burning Down," a fall 2024 cut that climbed to No. 23.

CM: We've had a lot of discussion in our office about the clothes on Sirens. One of our writers spoke to the costume designer about nailing the sort of exaggerated, almost camp preppy aesthetic. But I feel like Michaela's clothes were the only wardrobe one really coveted from the show. JM: [Costume designer] Caroline Duncan and I worked on that pretty closely. It's like [Michaela] has a higher fashion pitch than everybody else. She's the queen bee, so she wants to differentiate herself and signal her power. So we talked about keeping her in ivories a lot, cream colors. And stuff that's not particularly practical. CM: Did you keep anything? JM: I did. The outfit that I kept was the one that I wore at the very end of the show, when she's on the ferry, because I was like, That, I'll wear. That was a suede Khaite jacket. I loved it. And a pair of The Row jeans that I loved, and this great sweater. CM: Do you often, or ever, bring any of your own clothes onto set? JM: I try to avoid it. Sometimes I bring shoes 'cause I'm really particular about how my shoes fit and whether or not I can walk in them. But, you know, costumes get dirty, you get makeup on them, you're kind of in dirty places. And so if you have something really nice, you don't wanna bring it to work. [Laughs.] CM: I wanna know if Michaela's life at Cliff House has any correlation to Julianne's life in Montauk. JM: Oh, no, no. As a matter of fact, I went to the beverage store in Montauk last weekend to get my case of lemon LaCroix and my mini Diet Pepsis and stuff, and the woman that I know from the beverage store was saying, 'I really love that show, but wow, she's not like you at all.' I was like, I don't think Kiki buys her own mini Diet Pepsis. TA: You started by saying that you notice that everyone's watching this show. You've been in a lot of big, blockbuster-y movies that have big premieres and box office numbers, and now we're in a new era where something like Sirens starts to dominate the conversation. What are your thoughts on that?

Taylor Swift's First Grammy-Winning Album Reaches A New Lifetime Peak

This week in the United Kingdom, a dozen of Taylor Swift's albums appear on various charts. Some show up on just one ranking, while others land on as many as six. Many of her earliest projects return to several lists after fans deemed it acceptable once again to buy and stream releases that, until recently, financially benefited people other than the singer-songwriter herself. Now that Swift owns the rights to her own work, interest in those albums has surged. Some of those past efforts, which had been largely passed over for years, are now being thrust back into the spotlight. One of Swift's earliest full-lengths doesn't just return — it sells better than ever, as it climbs higher than it ever has on one important tally. Fearless reappears on three different rankings in the U.K. this week. The set is once again a powerful seller, and it manages to reach a new peak on the Official Albums Sales chart as it blasts back in. The early career project reenters that tally at No. 65, which marks its best showing ever. Fearless only arrived on the Official Albums Sales chart a little less than a year ago. The set debuted on the general ranking of the bestselling titles in the U.K. in late August 2024, when it opened at No. 82. This week marks just its second stint on this particular list. Beyond the Official Albums Sales chart, Fearless also breaks back onto both the Official Physical Albums and Official Country Artists Albums rankings. It lands at No. 66 on the former — just one spot beneath where it appears on the all-encompassing sales tally — while it rockets to No. 3 on the country-only roster. Swift released Fearless in November 2008, and the project proved she was not a one-hit wonder, catapulting her to greater heights than her self-titled debut. The full-length produced some of the biggest hits in country-pop history, including "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me." Fearless earned Swift her first several Grammy Awards. She collected Best Country Album, Best Country Song, Best Female Country Vocal Performance, and, notably, Album of the Year — and at that point, she became one of the youngest people to ever claim the top prize.
