Substitutes Fofana and Mikautadze score to help Lyon rally past Le Havre in French league

PARIS (AP) — Substitutes Malick Fofana and Georges Mikautadze played key roles in helping Lyon to rally past Le Havre 4-2 in the French league on Sunday.
Mikautadze, who joined Lyon from Metz last year, scored and provided two assists after coming on in the 77th minute.
Fofana replaced Ernest Nuamah with 19 minutes remaining with Lyon trailing 2-1 and Mikautadze came on for Rayan Cherki six minutes later.
Fofana leveled the scoring in the 78th minute from Mikautadze's assist with a left-footed angled shot, and the Georgia international then turned finisher after Le Havre defenders failed to clear a corner soon after.
Thiago Almada added more luster to Lyon's win with another goal in added time after another assist from Mikautadze.
Lyon captain Alexandre Lacazette had put Lyon in front from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute. Another penalty from Abdoulaye Toure put Le Havre level before Josue Casimir scored on the stroke of halftime for the visitors.
Lyon moved to fifth place in the standings, just two points behind the last direct Champions League spot. Le Havre remained 16th in the relegation playoff spot.
Later Sunday, unbeaten PSG could move closer to another title with a home win against bitter rival Marseille.

Wrexham opens next season against ex-Premier League side Southampton

Associated Press MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Wrexham will play relegated Premier League team Southampton in its opening game of the season. Wrexham will begin its first campaign in 43 years in English soccer's second tier away at St Mary's on Aug. 9. The Welsh team has enjoyed a spectacular rise under celebrity co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Just two years ago, Wrexham was playing non-league soccer in England's fifth tier. After three straight promotions, it is one tier below the Premier League and faces a Southampton team that was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal last season. The game will be screened live in the U.K., another sign of the growing interest in Wrexham. Fixtures for the second-tier Championship were published on Thursday. Wrexham plays former Premier League champion Leicester on Sept. 30. It plays Ipswich, also relegated from the top flight last season, on Nov. 22 and Sheffield United on Boxing Day. The Championship is renowned as one of the toughest divisions in soccer. That was illustrated last season when Luton — in the Premier League a year before — dropped down to the third tier after back-to-back relegations. ___ James Robson is at ___ AP soccer: recommended

Mbappé files harassment complaint against PSG and judicial officials are investigating

PARIS (AP) — Kylian Mbappé has accused Paris Saint-Germain of moral harassment in a legal filing, the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed on Thursday. The Real Madrid star is at odds with his former club, arguing PSG owes him 55 million euros ($61 million) in unpaid wages. Mbappé is also unhappy with the way he was treated by the Ligue 1 club when the France captain was sidelined before the 2023-24 season, following his decision not to extend his club contract. The prosecutor's office said Mbappé is 'denouncing the 'lofting' he claimed to have been subjected to at Paris Saint-Germain.' The word lofting is used in France to describe a practice that involves isolating a player from the main squad for sporting, administrative, or disciplinary reasons. Mbappé joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer after scoring a club-record 256 goals in seven years at PSG, which won the Champions League without him this year. Mbappé's relationship with PSG ended amid deep tensions , and some fans booed him in his last home game at Parc des Princes. PSG felt let down by Mbappé after offering him the most lucrative contract in club history when he signed a new contract in 2022. But Mbappé was frustrated because he felt promises to sign key players were not kept. When he signed that deal, he was paraded in front of fans holding up a jersey with 2025 on it. Mbappé was reportedly annoyed because the contract was until 2024 — with a player's option for an extra season. Mbappé stunned PSG in June 2023 by informing the club he would not take the option for an extra year. With his contract effectively into its final year, it put PSG in the position of needing to sell Mbappé to avoid losing him for nothing when the contract expired. His PSG career could have ended that summer amid a tense transfer standoff . After telling the club he would not extend, Mbappé was left off a preseason tour to Japan and South Korea and forced to train with fringe players. PSG said it would rather sell him than let the player leave for free in 2024, but he rejected a 300 million euros move to Saudi Arabia team Al-Hilal. PSG left Mbappé out of the opening league game of that season but he soon returned to the lineup following talks. Mbappé's legal team said in April it would start an action against PSG for harassment because of the way he was treated at the time. ___ AP soccer:
