The Wilde Girls Roar Into Theaters May 30th – Opening at LA's Iconic Laemmle NoHo 7
Cali Scolari, daughter of legendary actor, the late Peter Scolari, stars in her debut role with Lydia Pearl Pentz in The Wilde Girls, opening May 30th at the Laemmle NoHo 7 across the US in July.
Grab your popcorn (and your hiking boots)! The Wilde Girls, the wild new survival comedy from director Timothy Hines, is officially opening at the legendary Laemmle NoHo 7 theater in Los Angeles starting May 30th, 2025!
Los Angeles, CA - Known for championing independent cinema since 1938, Laemmle Theaters has been the launchpad for some of the most beloved, daring films in movie history — and now, they're welcoming The Wilde Girls, a hilarious, heartfelt survival story that proves being spoiled is no match for Mother Nature.
Directed by Timothy Hines ( 10 Days in a Madhouse ) and produced by Susan Goforth, The Wilde Girls stars breakout talents Cali Scolari — daughter of the late, great Emmy Award-winning actor Peter Scolari, longtime Tom Hanks collaborator — and rising star Lydia Pearl Pentz, who's already completed work on four upcoming feature films. Joining them is Teddy Smith, known as 'New York's Favorite Comic,' bringing a dose of real-world wit to the film's wilderness chaos.
Fresh off graduating from the prestigious Stella Adler Academy, Cali is proudly carrying on the family tradition of great acting — her father was none other than Peter Scolari, Emmy Award winner and star in classics like Bosom Buddies (with Tom Hanks!), Newhart, and Girls. Now it's Cali's turn to shine — and she's absolutely owning it.
About the Film:
Set in 1932 during the height of the Great Depression, The Wilde Girls follows sisters Tinsley and Mattie Wilde, two pampered New York socialites who lose their fortune overnight — and end up stranded deep in the wilderness with no idea how to survive. No cell phones. No credit cards. No clue.
Think Clueless — but with bears. Think The Revenant — but with better shoes.
'This is the story of what happens when you lose every advantage you thought made you powerful,' says producer Susan Goforth. 'It's a hilarious, emotional journey about sisterhood, grit, and finding out who you really are.'
With its smart humor, gorgeous 1930s aesthetic, and uplifting message, The Wilde Girls is set to capture hearts — and have audiences laughing out loud. Early viewers are calling it 'a riot with real heart' and 'the feel-good surprise of the year.'
Following its Laemmle NoHo 7 launch, The Wilde Girls will open on June 6th at New York's historic Cinema Village — another iconic theater — before expanding across the U.S. in July.
Get ready to laugh, cry (just a little), and cheer for the funniest survival story ever to hit the big screen. #TheWildeGirls #LaemmleLove #SurvivalLooksGoodOnYou #SpoiledButScrappy

Here's how Pat Sajak said goodbye to 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' in his final episode as host
Pat Sajak is officially leaving Wheel of Fortune — for real this time. The beloved, Emmy-winning, longtime host of the game show staple took his last-ever spin on Tuesday's episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. "I want to thank ABC for the opportunity to host season 5 of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. I hope they'll take a close look at my proposed primetime series, Sajak Senior Secret Agent," he joked at the top of the show. "Sounds like a winner," bandied Vanna White, Sajak's cohost of over 40 years. The episode proceeded as usual, with Broadway legends Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Bernadette Peters as celebrity contestants. After a scintillating round of game play, in which a laissez-faire Sajak threw Peters' million-dollar wedge over his shoulder after she spun a Bankrupt and joked with the trio, Ferguson won, taking home $59,300 for his charity, No Kid Hungry by Share Our the end of the episode, Sajak, White, Ferguson, Goldsberry, and Peters all took to the stage to bid the maestro a final adieu. "See you next time for more Celebrity Wheel of Fortune," Sajak said — though of course, we won't see him next time. Sajak, 78, announced his retirement from Wheel of Fortune in June 2023, exactly four decades since he took the show from daytime to nighttime in 1983. "Well, the time has come," Sajak said in a statement shared to social media at the time. "I've decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it'll keep the clickbait sites busy!)" The Chicago native has made good on that promise, joining his longtime friend and KHON-TV Hawaii anchor Joe Moore for a stage production of Prescription: Murder, the play which was eventually adapted into the pilot episode of Columbo. He spun the wheel on the main series for the last time last June, dedicating his parting statement to White. "Like me, she takes the show very seriously, but not herself. I shudder to think what these 40-plus years might have been like had they brought someone in all full of themselves, playing the prima donna role," Sajak shared in a statement. "Vanna is as sweet and unassuming as she seems. We've seen a lot of changes in each other's lives over the years but we've always been there for each other." Doechii condemns Trump for 'ruthless attacks' on Los Angeles in BET Awards acceptance speech
Grammy Award-winning rapper Doechii denounced the "ruthless attacks" on Los Angeles by the federal government while accepting the BET Award for female hip-hop artist on Monday night. 'Trump is using military forces to stop a protest,' the "Denial Is a River" singer said. 'And I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?' Read more: What businesses are the feds targeting during L.A. immigration sweeps? Here's what we know On Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted workplace raids in L.A.'s garment district. Agents detained workers inside Ambiance Apparel, prompting protests. On Saturday morning, ICE agents gathered inside a gated industrial park in Paramount near a Home Depot. Word of their presence spread on social medial, which prompted protesters to arrive. Federal agents and sheriff's deputies fired tear gas and flash-bang rounds at the demonstrators, who threw items toward them. In response, President Trump deployed roughly 2,000 National Guard and 700 active-duty U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton to protect federal agents. 'People are being swept up and torn from their families and I feel it's my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people,' Doechii said. 'For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people in Gaza, we all deserve to live in hope and not in fear.' Doechii was not the only artist to publicly criticize the president and the federal government during the ceremony. Before singer Ledisi took the stage, actor, writer and producer Tyler Perry called out Hollywood studios for their silence in times when "politicians are removing books from libraries, history and names from government buildings." 'This is not the time to be silent, this is not the time to give up — this is the time to dig in and keep leaving footprints everywhere you go.'
