K9 confirms live pipe bombs found at Michigan tow yard
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The says a K9 officer confirmed the presence of several pipe bombs at a tow yard.

K9 Loki and its handler responded to Mike's Wrecker Service on Monday in Saginaw for a report of suspicious items found inside an abandoned truck that was set to be scrapped.
Loki verified the items were explosives and the officer contacted the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad. That team successfully deactivated and destroyed the devices.
Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle where the pipe bombs were found was abandoned sometime in March on Saginaw's west side.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals offered a combined $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Arkansas officials urged residents of the surrounding Izard County to stay vigilant and lock the doors of their homes and vehicles. "I am very scared that this guy is going to hurt or kill somebody before this is over with," Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long told ABC News amid the manhunt. Nathan Smith, the former Benton County prosecutor who helped put Hardin behind bars, told Arkansas ABC affiliate KHBS the escaped inmate is "a sociopath."

Elmhurst K9 officer Ozy dies after suffering abdominal issue, police say
The Elmhurst Police Department is mourning the loss of beloved K9 officer Ozy. Ozy was taken for veterinary care on Tuesday after he was presented with an abdominal issue. He was initially doing well, but his health declined, and he passed away on Thursday with his partner, officer Brandt Cappitelli, at his side. Bullets, graffiti hinder restoration work on historic Michigan lighthouse
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A northern Michigan group is working to restore a historic lighthouse. Now, they're not only fighting Mother Nature and Father Time, but an alleged vandal, as well. Erin Griebe, the chairperson of the , says volunteers first noticed bullet holes in the lamp room last fall. 'That's very expensive glass to replace. It's all custom because this is a very old historic building, and once the integrity of the glass is disrupted with bullet holes, you have to make those repairs,' Griebe . Volunteers made those repairs but noticed new ones a few weeks ago. Frankfort Police Chief Mark Ketz said it's clear this is not an 'isolated incident.' In addition to the bullet holes, the lighthouse has long been a target of graffiti. 'It's just years and years of build up and paint and, you know, if we're going to spend all this money, donated money to entirely clean this down to the bare metal and then restore it to pristine condition, is this just going to happen again?' Ketz said. The restoration project was estimated to cost $1.1 million in 2022. Griebe already knows the costs will surpass that estimate and wants to avoid any other unnecessary work.
