Deputy Prime Minister of Malta visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

ABU DHABI (WAM) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, Dr. Ian Borg, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Malta to the UAE, Maria Camilleri Calleja, along with an official delegation.During the tour, Dr. Borg and the delegation explored the mosque's halls and courtyards, learning about its message of cultural openness, coexistence, and tolerance—values inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's Founding Father. The delegation was also briefed on the role of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in promoting Islamic culture and fostering cross-cultural understanding.They were introduced to the mosque's architectural history and unique architectural details, and explored its extensive collection of artworks and artefacts, demonstrating Islamic civilisation's artistic and architectural heritage.At the end of the visit, Dr. Borg was presented with a copy of the centre's latest publication, 'Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace.'
The book features a visual journey highlighting the mosque's architectural magnificence through award-winning photographs from the "Spaces of Light" photography Award.

Pilgrims seek forgiveness and shade on Mount Arafat during key Hajj ritual
Tens of thousands of Muslim pilgrims clambered up rocks and nestled between boulders on Thursday as they embarked on a day of worship under a scorching sun at the Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Braving the heat and uneven surfaces, they scaled Mount Arafat to perform a key ritual of the annual Islamic pilgrimage. They opened their arms in prayer, smartphones and hearts raised, as outsized fans sprayed fine mists of water to cool them during their long hours of worship. Pilgrims must remain in Arafat until sunset. Temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Away from the worship, an ice cream kiosk nearby provided some relief. Salem Naji Ahmed, from Yemen, travelled four days overland to neighbouring Saudi Arabia because he couldn't afford the flight. Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, FNC Member accompanied the delegation. In his remarks, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised that identifying new paths for economic development amid current global challenges is, in itself, a significant underscored the importance of upholding two core pillars: first, the commitment to the founding principles and goals of BRICS, which are vital for guiding collective action and maintaining cohesion and shared vision; and second, focusing on serving the people through genuine partnerships and innovative initiatives that foster inclusive and impactful economic Al Nuaimi highlighted that the post-World War II international order is undergoing profound transformation, with serious threats to the principle of economic justice.
