Taps Across America 2025
LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – There are different ways to honor the men and women who've given their lives in service to our country
Traditionally, it's the playing of Taps at military services.
Sometimes there's what's known as 'Echo Taps' with two trumpeters, making the tribute even more emotional.
Gary Cordell and Larry Ransom founded the non-profit TAPPS Nevada in 2014 to make sure taps is played in person.
Last year on 8NewsNow, Ransom told our Kamari Esquerra:
'If you've ever been to a military funeral, most times a fallen veteran will get taps via a recording (a hidden speaker inside a trumpet). We want to restore the long-held tradition of a live professional quality trumpeter to perform taps at military funerals and other veteran services.'
And that's all great.
But there may be something even greater. CBS News 'On The Road' Correspondent Steve Hartman:
'We started Taps Across America as a way to safely commemorate Memorial Day during the pandemic.'
Anyone who plays any instrument is encouraged to take part
Hartman explains how it works:
'At precisely 3 o'clock (whatever time zone you're in), musicians from all 50 states play taps in what's turned out to be one of the largest musical tributes of all time. Roughly 20,000 soloists all playing in harmony. In a country too often divded, this is the call we all can answer. So, if you play – whatever you play – please join us for Taps Across America.

Las Vegas couple killed after apparent online streamer clash
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Sunday's murder of a husband and wife stems from an online beef between two YouTube streamers arguing over, among other things, copyright infringement, the 8 News Now Investigators' review of hours worth of archived video reveals. Finny Da Legend, one of two of the shooting victims, and fellow streamer Sin City Manny, had argued for several months, the video appears to show. The two trolled each other, disagreed, and had lengthy conversations over the course of hours on a myriad of streams and sometimes different social media handles. Sin City Manny, whose real name is Manuel Ruiz, 41, will appear in Las Vegas Justice Court Tuesday morning. He faces two charges of open murder. By Monday morning, Ruiz's streams seem to have been scrubbed from the Internet. But Finny Da Legend's stream included some of Ruiz's stream, where Finny and a cast of online guests criticize his prowess of Las Vegas. 'He's the least informed Vegas person out there,' one of Finny's co-streamers said in an online broadcast that lasted over five hours. Someone with the screen name Kevin, another streamer on Finny's channel, in the same post, directly addressed the feud over copyright. That portion of the stream, from just five days ago. 'If anyone should be striked down, it should be Manny,' Kevin said. 'That's who needs the copyright strikes. That's who needs the axe.' It is unclear what exactly the copyright issue entails. That comment appears sometime after the opening sequence of Finny's stream, which included a copyright disclaimer and an obviously fake portrayal of President Donald Trump saying, 'I want to say '[Expletive] Sin City Family and [Expletive] Manny.' Its most recent big-budget release, Fountain of Youth, landed with quite a thud. The studio certainly has ambitious goals and deep pockets, but it's still searching for a consistent formula for movie success. What's the real story? The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is the animated sequel series to the original Nickelodeon series, with Cosmo and Wanda interrupting their retirement to be 10-year-old Hazel Wells' new fairy godparents. 10 new episodes hit Netflix this week. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns with his team of secret agents for season 2 of FUBAR, which also introduces Carrie-Anne Moss as the German spy Greta Nelso. 'I don't know if I've ever had so much fun doing a job,' Moss told Netflix's Tudum. 'When the reigning King of Joburg makes an impossible and illogical deal to take over the notorious King of Cape Town's empire, it unleashes a deadly chain of events that not even Mo' Masire can stop…. Or can he!?' says Netflix about this South African crime series. The streamer refers to Rana Naidu as 'Netflix India's breakout series of 2023,' and in the second season of this action drama franchise, Rana the fixer struggles to keep himself and his family safe from the many dangerous people he works with. One of Netflix's most popular reality shows makes its way to Spain, and 10 singles have to give up sex if they want to win €100,000. This latest spinoff joins other international versions of the show in Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Italy. Just weeks after the 21st season of Grey's Anatomy wrapped up on ABC, Netflix subscribers are going to get the chance to catch up on all of the latest drama at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
