A group of Tesla Superchargers in a small town outside Boston caught fire this week — and investigators suspect it was arson.
Massachusettes police are working with local officials to investigate seven Tesla charging stations that were engulfed in flames early Monday morning. Littleton Police said in a Monday press release that local officials have "determined that the fire appears to have been intentionally set."
Littleton Police Deputy Chief Jeff Patterson told Business Insider that the seven charging stations that were damaged are the only ones in the town, and none of them are useable. However, he said they are actively being repaired.
Tesla's charging account on X responded to a post about the incident on Monday and said the charging posts and wiring would be replaced in under 48 hours.
Police chief Matthew Pinard said that officers were dispatched to The Point Shopping Center at 1:10 a.m., following reports of fires at the Tesla charging station.
The officers said that "several Tesla charging stations were engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke" and another caught fire while they waited for the Electric Light & Water Department to arrive to shut down the power. Seven charging stations suffered heavy fire-related damage.
There were no reported injuries, and all of the fires were extinguished. The Littleton police and fire departments, along with the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, are investigating the incident. The Arson Watch Reward Program is offering rewards of up to $5,000 for information about the incident.
Patterson told BI that he wasn't aware of any Tesla protests or vandalism incidents in the town.
There have been dozens of demonstrations against Elon Musk and Tesla around the country in recent weeks in response to the Tesla CEO's efforts with the Trump administration and DOGE.
Demonstrators have gathered in cities around the country to participate in "Tesla Takedown" protests, many of which have occurred outside Tesla showrooms. Some Tesla owners have also reported being subject to insults when driving or vandalism on their vehicles.
Some of the anti-Tesla and Musk efforts have resulted in arrests.
Colorado police arrested a woman last week on suspicion of her involvement in a series of vandalism incidents at a Tesla dealership, including painting "Nazi cars" in graffiti on the dealership building and throwing Molotov cocktails at vehicles. The suspect was charged with criminal intent to commit a felony, criminal mischief, and using explosives or incendiary devices during a felony, according to police records.
Nine people were also arrested at a Tesla showroom protest in Manhattan on Saturday, Reuters reported. Police said hundreds of people showed up to the protest, some of whom entered the building, prompting employees to close the store. Videos from the protest also captured some of the store's glass shattered.

School board to take up multiple improvement projects
OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Community School District Board of Education is expected to address several improvement projects at various buildings in the district, as well as technology renewals during Monday's meeting at Career Campus. One of the bigger-ticket improvement items includes awarding a contract to Bi-State Contracting at the cost of $196,270 for renovations to the wrestling room, backstage dressing rooms, two classrooms and the teachers' lounge as part of the high school's comprehensive renovation project. Weller resigned from the board last month after taking the role as the district's security and safety coordinator; his seat will be filled until November, as it is one of three seats that will be on the ballot. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Downtown Las Vegas businesses brace for weekend protests
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Marco Lopez, co-owner of Juice Stars, told 8 News Now his business was vandalized earlier this week during the Las Vegas protest downtown. Anti-ICE expletives were spray-painted on his storefront, and he spent nearly two hours cleaning it up. 'At first I was like 'ugh really,' but I came in, grabbed a razor blade, spray bottle, and just had to sit there and scrape slowly,' Lopez said. He is now preparing his business for the protests planned this weekend. 'I mean we're gonna prep as best we can, bring all our stuff inside, get stuff put away, possibly just take everything money-wise, valuable out of here,' said Lopez. The owner also plans to monitor the store's security cameras, since the business will be closed during those hours. Other employees working at downtown businesses, who wanted to remain anonymous, told 8 News Now they are taking precautions. Many did not want to be named out of fear of retribution. 'The company we partnered with next door had to lock up their doors just as a precaution and for extra safety as well,' a woman told 8 News Now. She explained although they hope things won't get out of hand over the weekend, they are prepared to close their doors if it does. 'To close up early would impact our sales obviously, but we just want to make sure everyone's safe out there, especially our employees,' she said. The downtown protest is expected to take place at the federal courthouse tomorrow from 5-7 p.m. According to a press release, it is meant to be 'peaceful protests against the Trump administration.' The complexes have allegedly deceived future and current tenants of rent increases, property quality, amenity quality and building safety. Brown filed a complaint Friday in Snohomish County Superior Court against the apartment complexes and property management firm, FPI Management, for deceptive practices against senior tenants. What we know The following Western Washington apartment complexes are part of the lawsuit: Vintage at Everett Vintage at Mill Creek Vintage at Sequim Vintage at Tacoma Cedar Pointe Apartments FPI has been allegedly violating the Consumer Protection Act over the last several years, after the management company and the property owners failed to disclose rent increases, apartment unit quality, property safety and the quality of apartment amenities like pools and gyms. FPI markets its apartments to tenants 55 years and older who are also low-income. Brown claims that the company does not inform future tenants that their rent will be decided on Area Median Income, resulting in seniors paying more than the Social Security or pension incomes they live on. What they're saying "Housing is particularly important for older Washingtonians, and it's hard for them to move once they've signed a lease," said Brown in a statement. "It's egregious to convince vulnerable populations they're getting quality living when in reality they are stuck with properties in disrepair that also end up costing more than they expected over time." Additionally, FPI has allegedly deceived tenants of the quality of their apartment units, building quality and amenity qualities. FPI markets the quality of its buildings as "luxury" and "resort style" but photos of the buildings show broken appliances, mold, leaks and other building damage. Some amenities the apartments promised to tenants were either nonexistent, shut down or broken. The apartment complexes also raised concerns around safety, as many did not have anyone monitoring people or vehicles entering and exiting the property, which has led to trespassing, theft and vandalism. What's next Brown's complaint calls for an injunction that prevents FPI and property owners from continuing the alleged unlawful activity. It also seeks a civil penalty of $12,500 for each Consumer Protection Act violation, restitution to impacted tenants and coverage of legal costs.
