Automotive aftermarket franchise renews longstanding master franchise license for 91 locations mainly across Quebec and Ontario
Canada agreement will pave the way for further expansion in Ziebart's second-largest country
Ziebart signs new master franchise agreement for 10 stores across Mexico, plus operations in approx. 40 dealerships
TROY, Mich., April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziebart, the global leader in premium automotive appearance and protection services, is accelerating its international growth with the renewal of its 60-year-old master franchise license with Driven Brands Canada, which owns Uniban Canada. This renewal reinforces its strong market presence of 91 stores across the country under the VitroPlus and UniglassPlus brands. Furthering the brand's commitment to international growth, Ziebart also signed a new master franchise license agreement for its first 10 stores in Mexico, as well as operations in approximately 40 car dealerships.
Building a Legacy in CanadaZiebart's first venture into Canada dates back to a store in Windsor, Ontario that opened in 1965, six years after the first location opened in neighboring Detroit, Michigan. Canada's climate, with harsh winters and road salt exposure, creates a strong need for Ziebart's rustproofing and maintenance solutions. The Windsor store was built to keep up with growing demand for Ziebart's invention of rustproofing to protect vehicles.
"Since the beginning of our relationship in 2020, Ziebart has been instrumental in delivering top-tier automotive protection to Canadian drivers," said Maurice Filion, President of Uniban Canada. "This renewal of our master franchise license allows us to continue growing across the country and enhancing our services while maintaining the quality and trust that our customers have come to expect."
Today, the brand's presence includes 29 UniglassPlus/Ziebart stores primarily located in Ontario, as well as 62 VitroPlus/Ziebart stores in Quebec. The contract renewal opens the door for further expansion in Ziebart's second-largest country.
"Renewing our master franchise agreement in Canada is a testament to the strength of our partnership and the trust Canadian consumers have instilled in Ziebart," said Larisa Walega, Chief Growth Officer and Senior Vice President at Ziebart. "With decades of history in Canada – and a footprint second only to the United States – this agreement reinforces our commitment to supporting our franchise partners and delivering best-in-class vehicle protection services across the country."
A New Era in MexicoZiebart's entry into Mexico is driven by a new master franchise agreement that will establish three locations in Mexico City, as well as seven other stores in key regions across the country, with the first store slated to open later this year. Under the agreement, Ziebart operations will also be available in approximately 40 car dealerships across Mexico.
Furthering Ziebart's potential in the market, franchises are instrumental in the success of Mexico's economy, accounting for 5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating more than one million jobs across the country. That franchise-friendly environment provides a strong foundation for Ziebart to introduce and expand its offerings over time.
"Mexico's supportive franchise sector amidst an increased demand for premium automotive protection services offers an ideal market for the Ziebart franchise model," said Thomas A. Wolfe, President & Chief Executive Officer of Ziebart. "With a growing number of vehicles on the road, we are confident Ziebart will quickly establish a strong presence in the Mexican automotive aftercare space."

Dozing Breaks Ground on North America's Largest Low-Carbon Cement Mill

CHICAGO, June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ozinga has officially broken ground on a cutting-edge low-carbon cement manufacturing facility in East Chicago, Indiana. Equipped with one of North America's largest vertical roller mills, the new plant will produce one million tons of low-carbon cementitious materials annually. Strategically located with direct access to rail, truck, and water (via the Great Lakes and the inland waterways of the U.S.), the facility will serve customers across the United States and Canada, reinforcing Ozinga's commitment to sustainable infrastructure, supply chain resilience, and American manufacturing. "Ozinga has always believed that true innovation isn't just about progress, it's about purpose," said Marty Ozinga, CEO of Ozinga. "This facility is more than a plant. It's a commitment to the future of American manufacturing, to sustainable building, and to strengthening American communities for generations to come." Investing in Communities and American Manufacturing The East Chicago facility and its related operations are projected to create approximately 150 construction and long-term full-time jobs, fueling regional economic growth. Operations are expected to begin in 2026. "This is the kind of investment that strengthens communities and provides real opportunity for local families," said Anthony Copeland, Mayor of East Chicago. With over 2,500 employees nationwide, Ozinga continues to prioritize sustainability, community development, and innovation. The East Chicago facility marks a major milestone in the company's mission to deliver net zero concrete by 2030. Reducing Emissions, Strengthening Supply Chains Concrete is the backbone of modern infrastructure essential to homes, schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges. Yet traditional Portland cement, its core ingredient, accounts for nearly 7% of global CO₂ emissions. In 2024, the United States imported nearly 30 million tons of cement, leaving infrastructure projects vulnerable to supply chain instability and trade volatility. Ozinga's East Chicago facility directly addresses this challenge. By producing domestic low-carbon cements, it will reduce dependence on imports and dramatically lower embodied carbon in construction materials, supporting both environmental goals and economic resilience. Powered by North America's Largest Low-Carbon Vertical Roller Mill At the heart of the facility is the MVR5300-C6 vertical roller mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer, the largest of its kind in North America. With six independent rollers and unmatched throughput capacity, the mill maximizes energy efficiency while minimizing carbon emissions. "This isn't just a plant—it's a technological milestone," said Timothy Burden, President of Gebr. Pfeiffer Americas. "The MVR5300-C6 sets a new benchmark for sustainable cement production." The facility will produce ASTM C989-compliant low-carbon slag cement, as well as proprietary blends under Ozinga's CarbonSense™ brand, meeting ASTM C1157 performance standards and delivering up to 80% reductions in embodied carbon. Once fully operational, the plant is projected to offset more than 700,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of U.S. construction. Driving Innovation Through Collaboration Ozinga's leadership in sustainable building materials has been strengthened by partnerships with Meta, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and other industry leaders. These collaborations have yielded AI-optimized low-carbon concrete, used in Meta's DeKalb, IL data center, and enabled a 64% reduction in embodied carbon at the award-winning Amazon Web Services New Carlisle, IN data center, setting a new industry benchmark. The new East Chicago facility is a timely response to the growing demand for low-carbon concrete in data center construction and other mission-critical infrastructure projects across North America. About OzingaOzinga is a fifth-generation, family-owned American company providing concrete, bulk materials, and construction solutions for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Committed to service, learning, and entrepreneurship, Ozinga continues to develop environmentally responsible products and practices that make a positive impact and shape the future of the built environment. US still dependent on Canadian oil, despite Trump's claims, Cenovus CEO says

CALGARY (Reuters) -The U.S. is still reliant on Canadian oil imports, despite claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump, Cenovus Energy's CEO said on Tuesday at a conference in Calgary, Alberta. Trump has threatened on-again, off-again tariffs on Canada's oil, of which nearly 4 million barrels per day are exported to the United States. Canada also remains dependent on U.S. energy systems, Cenovus CEO Jon McKenzie said, adding the country must diversify its customer base. MindArk Launches AI-Powered Global Localisation for Entropia Universe

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, June 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- MindArk, the developer of the pioneering real-cash economy MMO Entropia Universe, is proud to announce a major leap forward in accessibility with the rollout of global language localisation powered by Artificial Intelligence. About Entropia Universe Entropia Universe is a unique massively multiplayer online game (MMO) built around a real-cash economy, where virtual assets hold real-world value and players can participate in a thriving digital marketplace. Developed and maintained by MindArk, the platform has been live since 2003 and continues to push the boundaries of virtual economy design. Set in a persistent, single-shard universe, Entropia Universe offers a deep and evolving sci-fi world spanning multiple planets and vast space environments. Unlike traditional class-based MMOs, players progress through infinite skill development, with the freedom to define their own roles and paths. Players can invest in in-game companies, own land areas, and even acquire shares that pay real dividends, connecting gameplay with genuine economic opportunity. Now Live in 49 Languages Starting today, Entropia Universe is available in 49 languages, making the immersive virtual universe more accessible than ever before. This breakthrough is made possible through cutting-edge AI systems that translate millions of in-game strings, including user interface elements, game text, and system messages. This ambitious initiative opens the door to millions of new players worldwide, dramatically lowering the language barrier that has previously limited participation in non-English speaking regions. Expanding a Global Community With players from over 150 countries, Entropia Universe already boasts a diverse and international user base. Until now, however, the experience has been optimized for English-speaking users, limiting the potential for deeper global engagement. "Our community has always been global, but language has remained a hurdle," said Joe Martin, Marketing Director at MindArk. "With this new capability, we're removing that hurdle and opening up for the world to experience Entropia in their native language." Strategic Global Growth The localisation update is part of MindArk's broader strategy to expand its reach into new and underserved markets. In the coming months, the company will intensify its efforts in these regions through localized marketing campaigns, strategic partnerships, and collaborations with creators and gaming communities worldwide.
