Arsenal ‘advancing' in Benjamin Sesko transfer talks
Arsenal are advancing in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko but no agreement has been reached with RB Leipzig. Sesko has emerged as the leading target for Arsenal as the Gunners look to sign a centre-forward this summer. Arsenal failed with a move to sign the Slovenian striker 12 months ago but have returned with renewed interest. Arsenal progressing in Sesko transfer talks Fabrizio Romano has revealed that negotiations between the clubs are progressing but no agreement is expected imminently. Arsenal are relaxed on the situation and have also assessed the cost of signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Sesko is a player endorsed by the recruitment team with the forward regarded as one of Europe's best number nine prospects. Advertisement He has scored 39 goals in 87 games since joining Leipzig from sister-club Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 and has netted 16 times in 41 caps for Slovenia. At five years younger than Gyokeres, Sesko is viewed as a more sensible long-term addition. The 6ft 5in forward would offer Arsenal an out-and-out forward presence, though Arteta remains a big believer in Kai Havertz's ability to fulfil the role. Havertz scored 13 goals in 27 starts for Arsenal before a hamstring injury sustained in February decimated the latter half of his 2024/25 campaign. FC Barcelona Considers Selling League Winner To Saudi Arabia
FC Barcelona has received interest from Saudi Arabia in one of its first team stars and is considering offloading him to the Pro League according to local newspapers SPORT and Mundo Deportivo. This week has already seen a report from the former publication explaining that Neymar's former employers Al-Hilal are interested in taking captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen off the Catalans' hands. Missing most of 2024/2025 through injury, the German is effectively being ousted from the club because of the expected arrival of Joan Garcia from Espanyol. RAC 1 reported that President Joan Laporta told the board Ter Stegen will have to leave if Barca activates Garcia's $28.5 million (€25 million) release clause, which is expected to be done in a matter of days. Meanwhile, Hansi Flick and his staff have also reportedly greenlit Ter Stegen's potential exit because of a poor attitude and effectively trying to force his way into the first XI for Barca's Champions League semifinal second leg defeat to Inter Milan despite not being registered for the competition. Whether Ter Stegen heads to the Middle East or not, one of his closest friends at Barca off the pitch in Andreas Christensen could do. SPORT reports on interest from Al-Hilal's bitter rival Al-Nassr in the Dane, and adds that Sporting Director Deco and Laporta are 'thinking about opening the door for him'. While Flick admires the 29-year-old for his versatility in being able to operate as a center back or pivot, Barca has to think about possibly profiting on a player it signed on a free for Chelsea, and who has just over 12 months left on his contract. Mundo Deportivo says that while Christensen hasn't shown he wants to leave Barca, there is a feeling that he will want to run down his contract and once more join his next club for nothing once becoming a free agent. FC Barcelona could afford to sell Christensen from a sporting sense because of its wealth of options at center back. With Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez undisputed starters, there's also Ronald Araujo to consider and Eric Garcia though injuries to some of these players have sometimes left Flick undermanned.

Family affair: Chalobah brothers set to join exclusive England group
Trevoh Chalobah is hoping to make his England debut this evening when the Three Lions take on Andorra in World Cup qualification. Chalobah has been called up to the senior side for the first time, following an impressive season with Crystal Palace and Chelsea. The defender helped Chelsea to Europa Conference League success last season and is now pushing for an international debut. Should he feature, the Chalobah family will become just the third to have two brothers play for England since the Second World War. A total of 21 brothers have represented England, but just two post-war. Advertisement Jack and Bobby Charlton each featured as part of England's 1966 World Cup winning team. Centre-back Jack won 35 caps for the Three Lions, scoring six times. His younger brother, Bobby, won the Ballon d'Or after England's World Cup success. He retired with the then records as England's most capped player and highest goalscorer, having scored 49 times in 106 games for England. The second set of brothers to feature for England post-war are Phil and Gary Neville. Combined, the defensive duo won 144 caps for England. Chalobah will be hoping his international career lasts longer than elder brother Nathaniel, who featured for just six minutes on his sole appearance for England in 2018.
