The actor has donated a whopping Rs 10 crore from the profits of his latest blockbuster Retro to the Agaram Foundation, his long-standing initiative that supports students' education. The generous move was announced during a thanksgiving event for the film, and fans couldn't be more proud.
'To increase this number, we need to increase our contributions to Agaram. As a first step towards that goal, I'm happy to share that from the love and support you gave to our film Retro, I'm contributing Rs. 10 crore to the Agaram Foundation in this academic year 2025," Suriya said at the event.
He added, 'There is no greater joy than sharing. It has always brought me immense fulfillment to share my success with all of you, who recognised my efforts and gave me an identity as an actor."
Suriya also reflected on the love Retro has received, saying, 'The overwhelming support you've shown for the film Retro has made it a heartwarming success. Every time I face a challenging situation, it is your love and encouragement that lifts me up and keeps me going."
Meanwhile, the film's success story continues. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Suriya alongside Pooja Hegde, Retro has raked in a massive ₹235 crore globally, according to its makers. Production house 2D Entertainment shared the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), thanking fans for their 'immense love and support."
They shared a poster that said, 'Worldwide 235 crore" and wrote, 'Dear Audience and #AnbaanaFans, we're humbled by your immense love and support for #TheOne. Grateful for the glory, it's all because of you. #RETRO."
Released on May 1, the high-octane action drama also stars Joju George, Jayaram, and Karunakaran. With music by Santhosh Narayanan and action choreography by Kecha Khamphakdee, Retro not only set the box office on fire but also brought real change.
