Vendors and volunteers sought for Holyoke's 4th of July event

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The City of Holyoke has announced that the annual 4th of July festivities are set for Friday, June 27th.
The community is invited to enjoy entertainment, food, vendors, and activities for children at Holyoke Community College beginning at 6 p.m. The fireworks display will start at dusk.
'Dr. Beach' names this Massachusetts beach in top 10 of 2025
Vendors interested in joining the event are encouraged to contact the Parks and Recreation Department for a permit application at 413-322-5620 before June 13th. Those interested in volunteering can call the mayor's office at 413-561-1600.
If the event has to be postponed due to weather concerns, it will be rescheduled for Sunday, June 29th.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Smoke from wildfires burning in Canada is expected to cast a haze over the skies and diminish air quality in Massachusetts. The sun is out across much of western Massachusetts on Wednesday however, the sky is very hazy from wildfire smoke. This is wildfire smoke high in the atmosphere from Canada. The smoke gets caught in the upper levels of the jet stream and gets carried east, giving the smoke here in New England. Winds push smoke from Canadian wildfires south into US and compromise air quality The smoke may be noticeable in New England until Friday. If you have any photos or videos, email us at ReportIt@ An air quality alert has been issued for Hampden County until 11 p.m. The state has several air quality sensors in western Massachusetts, one in Ware near the Quabbin, one at Westover in Chicopee, and one at the State Police Barracks in Springfield. These sensors track five major air pollutants: ground-level ozone, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and aerosols. Exposure to poor air quality can lead to headaches, irritated eyes, coughing, and difficulty breathing, especially for those with respiratory conditions like asthma. Free concert lineup announced for The Big E Fair in September From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., general admission tickets to New England's Great State Fair are on sale for only $10 with a $0.75 fee. Regular ticket prices cost $21.50. There is a limit of eight tickets per order. The discounted tickets are available online only at This Flash Sale is a way for the Eastern States Exposition to say thank you to attendees for helping make last year's fair memorable, as they had the best attendance to date, with numbers reaching a record-setting 1,633,935.
