PSG showed no signs of fatigue as the Champions League winners thrashed Atletico Madrid last time out and now are firm favourites to beat Botafogo
Any lingering doubts about Paris Saint-Germain's drive after their Champions League victory were laid to rest with a resounding 4-0 thrashing of Atlético Madrid on Sunday. The Parisians were in complete control, dictating the pace of the game with a staggering 75% possession and outshooting Atlético 16 to five. Even Clément Lenglet's dismissal in the 78th minute did little to change the flow of the match, as PSG seemed untroubled throughout.
Luis Enrique's squad received a significant morale boost with goals coming from all corners. Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-in each found the back of the net, showcasing the depth and versatility of the team. With such a commanding lead, Enrique had the luxury of rotating his squad and resting key players in the second half.
This dominant performance places PSG firmly at the top of Group B, making them overwhelming favourites at 1/16 to finish first. Their impressive display has also seen them leapfrog Real Madrid as the tournament favourites, now priced at 11/4.
Despite PSG's formidable form, Botafogo shouldn't be written off just yet. The Brazilian side are no strangers to success, having clinched both the Copa Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles in 2024. However, under new leadership from Renato Paiva, they currently sit eighth in their domestic league and have struggled to replicate last season's form.
Botafogo kicked off their Club World Cup campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders. Early goals from Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus gave them control, but Seattle fought back hard in the second half, with Cristian Roldan pulling one back in the 75th minute. Despite being pushed to their limits, Botafogo managed to hold on for a win that was tighter than anticipated.

Thomas Frank shows his true colours over Ange Postecoglou as new Tottenham boss makes feelings clear

The former Brentford manager was hired by Daniel Levy to take over from the ex-Celtic gaffer in North London Thomas Frank has spoken out on Ange Postecoglou as part of his first interview as Tottenham's new manager – hailing him as a legend. The former Celtic boss delivered on his second season trophy promise as he sparked wild scenes in Bilbao by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League Final and ending the long wait for silverware in North London. ‌ The triumph also booked a golden ticket to the Champions League this season and landed Spurs a mega windfall in the process. ‌ However, a 17th place finish in the English Premier League - despite the success in Europe's second tier competition - proved to much for Daniel Levy and club bosses as they decided to axe Ange after two seasons at the club. They moved quickly and turned attentions to Brentford boss Frank and got a deal over the line with the Bees. Now, the new Spurs boss has spoken for the first time since taking up his new position and he has shown his true colours over the man he has replaced. Speaking as part of an in-house interview, Frank said: "I think Ange has done something special. He'll forever be a legend in Tottenham. "It's important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. "I'm going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I'm very humble about that. ‌ "I'll do my very best to continue the great work he put in. "The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans' faces, the pictures were 'wow'. "Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that." ‌ Tottenham kick off the new season at home to Burnley but before that EPL showdown they have the small matter of fighting PSG in the Super Cup with more silverware on the line before the campaign even gets up and running. Ange has already been linked with a quick-fire return to the dugout in Saudi as he ponders his next steps. What Conor Coady really thinks about Rangers transfer as target ready to show Brendan Rodgers what he passed on

Coady is a target for Rangers and has previous with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of a reunion in Glasgow Conor Coady admitted Brendan Rodgers pushing him out on loan was a turning point in his early career – as he gears up to show his former boss the player he's turned into. The defender is a target for new Rangers boss Russell Martin who is desperately in need of defensive reinforcements before their first Champions League qualifier with Panathinaikos, which is coming up fast. ‌ News of John Souttar's surgery might have catapulted Coady to top priority status with Robin Propper, Clinton Nsiala, Ben Davies and Leon King the only central defensive options if Souttar is unavailable. ‌ If the 32-year-old does decide on a move to Ibrox then it will mean crossing paths with Celtic boss Rodgers – who coached him during his formative days at Liverpool and sent him out to gain first-team experience at Sheffield United in 2013. And speaking in 2020, the defender credited the Irishman for pushing him to leave his comfort zone. He said: "Brendan Rodgers was good to me when I was young. I had a season training with the first team at Melwood, learning off them. That was big for me, but I always knew it was tough. "I knew at some point I'd have to come away from Liverpool to really experience being a first-team player. It was the best decision I ever made, and Brendan was great for that; he pushed that to send me on loan and try to improve my game. "Liverpool were always getting better, they were always improving, and the players in my position were ridiculous. But I just wanted to play football. I knew where I was at, the type of level I was at, but I just wanted to be part of a first team, playing in games which meant something, playing against men." He ultimately never made the grade under Rodgers at Anfield, making just two appearances, and now he may be gearing up to show his former boss the player he passed on by taking the fight to him in Glasgow. ‌ Pundit Lee Hendrie meanwhile has offered an insight into where Coady's head is on the deal. He told FootballLeagueWorld: "I could see him at Ibrox, for sure. I think that he could certainly step in and do a job at Rangers. There's no doubt about that. He still offers a lot in the line of experience. "He has been limited on game time, but I think, particularly with Leicester being in the Championship, he'd be one you look at and think that he's got a bit more mileage in him to go on and kick on in the Championship. ‌ "If you're linked with Rangers, I'm sure that would certainly give him something to think about. I'd be looking at it from a Leicester point of view, thinking that he'd be one that I want to keep hold of, given some of the players that they have at the club." Aston Villa transfer chief Monchi hand picked by Unai Emery targeted by Spanish giants just as the summer transfer window gets underway

Aston Villa transfer chief Monchi is a target for the potential new owners of his former club Sevilla. Monchi was hand picked by Villa boss Unai Emery for the role of 'president of football operations' and runs the playing side along with Emery and director of football Damian Vidagany. Monchi made his name with a series of impressive signings across two spells at Sevilla and now investors Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero hope to bring him back for a third stint - if they can mount a successful takeover bid. 'Sevilla has achieved far more than its own capabilities,' said Quintero. 'Its successes have a lot to do with Monchi, everything to do with him. He's the most important person in the club's history. 'He accounts for a large part of the success wherever he goes. We're seeing it in Birmingham. At Roma, they reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2018. When success accompanies you in everything you do, it's not the success, it's you. 'I have no idea if he's going to come back. Yes, I want him back. Antonio Lappí, definitely. I think every Sevilla fan wants him back.' Monchi will again lead Villa's recruitment campaign this summer, with Emery identifying those players he wants for the first team and Monchi working to secure the best young talent from around the globe. Villa are braced for interest in young attacker Morgan Rogers, who was on Thursday nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award following an outstanding 2024-25 season. Rogers is admired by Arsenal and Chelsea but as things stand, Villa have no interest in selling.
