Auxiliary policewoman fined RM1,500 for hitting another woman at JB mall
JOHOR BARU: A 32-year-old auxiliary policewoman has been fined RM1,500 by a Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (June 3) for hitting another woman at a shopping mall here.
Nur Shazlin Muhammed Sanusi pleaded guilty to the charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a 34-year-old woman near the mall's main entrance at around 2.50pm on Jan 3.
According to the facts of the case, the accused had hit the victim several times in the stomach and chest and kicked her leg, which resulted in soft tissue injury.
The offence was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
Nur Shazlin was represented by a National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer who declined to be named.
The lawyer asked for a lighter sentence as the accused has been working as an auxiliary police for the past two years without issue.
'The incident stemmed from a verbal argument after she was provoked by the victim.
'I hope the court can take into consideration her guilty plea, following which, she could lose her job even though she is not a civil servant,' he said.
He added that the accused also has to take care of her parents and six siblings on a monthly salary of RM1,700.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Fatihah Mohd Nizam asked the court to hand out a reasonable sentence to serve as a lesson to the accused and public.
The court ordered Nur Shazlin to pay a fine of RM1,500 in default two months' jail.

TANGKAK: The anguished cry of a father echoed through a home in Taman Cahaya, Bukit Gambir, last night as he struggled to come to terms with the death of his 34-year-old daughter, who was allegedly murdered by her husband. Tears flowed during the burial ceremony as the body was brought to the Kampung Durian Chondong Muslim cemetery to be laid to rest. Earlier, the hearse transporting the body arrived from Melaka Hospital after the post-mortem was completed earlier in the morning. Around 200 people, including family members, close relatives and villagers, gathered at the house compound to receive the body. A sombre atmosphere filled the air as the body was brought into the house and funeral prayers were performed, joined by more than 50 congregants. The victim was laid to rest at 8pm last night. It was reported that the 32-year-old suspect had allegedly murdered the victim and set fire to several vehicles at his in-laws' house before he had surrendered himself to the police. The suspect had walked into the Bukit Gambir police station at 7am on June 3 and reportedly told the police had slashed his wife and committed arson. He had been remanded for seven day s to facilitate investigations into the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 435 of the same Code for committing mischief.

‘Pasar malam' trader jailed 30 months after breaking into ex-Kedah MB Ahmad Bashah's home, stealing grass cutter
ALOR SETAR, June 5 — A pasar malam trader selling children's toys was sentenced to 30 months' jail and fined RM1,500 by the Magistrate's Court here yesterday after pleading guilty to breaking into the home of ex-Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah last week. Magistrate Nur Syifa Mohd Hamzah also ordered the night market trader, T Rakesh Kumar, 44, to serve an additional six months' jail if he defaulted on the fine. According to the charge, the accused was alleged to have committed housebreaking by entering the residence of the former Kedah Menteri Besar and stealing a grass-cutting machine at Taman Rakyat here at 2.50am on May 29. For the offence, he was charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code and punishable under the same section, which provides for imprisonment of up to 14 years and a fine or whipping. Earlier, the accused, who was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation counsel Aina Shafina Idrus Saidi, appealed for a lenient sentence, citing that he is married, has no fixed income, and is responsible for supporting his wife and parents. However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Sharmila Md Asri urged the court to impose a commensurate punishment as the offence was a repeat case and the accused had previous convictions for similar offences. — Bernama
