Chitrapuzha Junction-HOC Junction stretch to be made four-lane
The Chitrapuzha Junction-HOC Junction stretch along the Chitrapuzha-Ponjasseri Road under the Department of Public Works will be widened into a four-lane road.
A new bridge will be built at Chitrapuzha as part of the project. The government will spend ₹22.5 crore on the construction works, said P. Rajeeve, Minister for Industries, in a communication. Kochi Refinery will use its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for the project.
Discussions were held on various occasions to resolve traffic congestion in the area. The project may boost transport facilities through the stretch, which linked the eastern region of Ernakulam district with Thripunitura and Kochi city, according to the release.

The visit included an insightful presentation by Deepu Philip, professor-in-charge (Incubation & Innovation), SIIC IIT Kanpur, highlighting SIIC's vision and milestones. Piyush Mishra, COO and CFO of SIIC, was also present during the engagements. As part of the visit, a select group of SIIC-incubated startups presented their products and technologies, showcasing innovations in defence and aerospace, agritech, and sustainability. Speaking on the occasion, Poddar said, "Innovation with purpose has the power to change lives and nations. We see immense potential in India's youth-led startup ecosystem, especially in critical sectors like defence, aerospace, agritech, and sustainability. Our CSR initiative at IIT Kanpur is a step towards nurturing this talent and creating meaningful social impact. Foxhog Ventures will explore further capital infusion through equity, debt, and convertible notes, forming part of a wider commercial investment strategy. Prof Deepu Philip said, "At SIIC IIT Kanpur, we believe in empowering cutting-edge tech-product oriented startups with the right mentorship, capital, and infrastructure partnership will amplify our efforts to translate breakthrough ideas into scalable product-based solutions that will power our country's rapid growth." A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IIT Kanpur and Foxhog Ventures will be prepared, under which IIT Kanpur will play a key role in evaluating, mentoring, and monitoring the startups receiving support, ensuring rigorous technical due diligence and alignment with national priorities.

HCLTech opens delivery centre at Technopark
Seven months after technology major HCLTech set up its delivery centre in Kerala at Kochi, the company opened its second unit in the State in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. The newly opened delivery centre, located on the Technopark campus, will focus on projects in Artificial Intelligence (AI), GenAI, cloud and other emerging technologies. The first delivery centre which was opened on the Infopark campus in Kochi in October 2024 has been focussing on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) technologies to provide solutions in sectors such as medical, automobile and semiconductors. Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, in a social media post, expressed confidence that the State's collaboration with HCLTech, which is involved in crucial areas of advanced technology, will help create more job opportunities for youth. 'Utilising State's potential' 'While inaugurating the first unit of HCLTech last year in Kochi, I had said that the company will be able to further utilise the potential of Kerala. The day after the unit was launched at Infopark, we received a message from the company's Corporate Vice President and Head of Engineering (R&D) Hari Sadarahalli. He said the company wanted to start another unit in Kerala very soon. Now, seven months later, the company has opened its second unit in the State. HCLTech is becoming a new example that reinforces our confidence that those setting up their business in Kerala will soon expand or open new units,' said Mr. Rajeeve. He expressed confidence that Mr. Sadarahalli's words that the company's attention was drawn to Kerala by the excellent human resources and infrastructure will bring more companies to Kerala.
