KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has appointed Azizan Abd Aziz as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective Aug 1, 2025, following the resignation of Rosidah Baharom last month.
Azizan joins the exchange from Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, where he has served as CFO since May 2019 and was later promoted to Group CFO following the Islamic bank's listing in October 2021.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Bank Islam confirmed that Azizan has stepped down to pursue other career opportunities, with his last working day set for July 31.
Bursa Malaysia announced Azizan's appointment in a separate filing, highlighting his more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance and advisory, including previous roles at Deloitte Malaysia and KPMG United Kingdom.
"Azizan's extensive expertise in both conventional and Islamic finance makes him well-suited to steer Bursa Malaysia's financial strategy and governance," the exchange said.
Azizan's entry into Bursa Malaysia follows the departure of Rosidah, who officially stepped down on May 17 to pursue personal interests, prompting a search for her replacement.
During the interim, group finance and corporate services executive vice president Rasmona Abdul Rahman was appointed acting CFO to ensure continuity.
Azizan is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and holds a chartered professional qualification in Islamic Finance.
He earned his degree in accounting and finance from the University of Plymouth in the UK.

Anwar slams Muslim nations' silence over Israeli attacks on Iran
LUMUT: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today condemned the silence of the international community, particularly Muslim-majority nations, over the recent Israeli attacks on Iran. "A few days ago, Iran was attacked by Israel. They casually targeted and killed scientists and military officials. "What kind of country behaves in such a barbaric, treacherous, and insane manner as Israel? "There are over a billion Muslims, and many Islamic countries are wealthy, yet very few speak up to defend Iran," he said in his speech at the closing ceremony of the Madani Rakyat Programme at Lumut Waterfront here today. Also present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. Anwar said that Malaysia, as a sovereign and independent nation, must have the courage to stand up for justice, not only within its borders, but also in solidarity with oppressed nations around the world. "That is why I told my colleagues in the Cabinet, Malaysia must build its own capacity. "We are a sovereign country, and we must defend the rights of our friends, including Iran, which has long been oppressed. "We support Iran's right to respond and to defend its national dignity," he said. Highlighting Iran's resilience under prolonged economic sanctions, Anwar praised the country's commitment to education and technological advancement, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), despite being shut out by major global tech companies. "While companies like Google and Microsoft are present in our country, they are not allowed into Iran. " Yet Iran still manages to educate its youth, develop its AI sector, and sustain its economy under immense pressure," he said. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of global powers and European nations who remain silent when Israel strikes, but react strongly when Iran retaliates. "When Israel attacks, you remain silent. But when Iran responds, suddenly there's outrage. That's not our position," he said. Anwar affirmed that the Madani government will continue to uphold its principles of justice and solidarity. "Alhamdulillah, the leadership of this Madani government holds firmly to the principle of defending justice and the rights of all nations," he concluded. It was reported that Iran struck Israel early Saturday with barrages of missiles after a massive onslaught targeted the Islamic republic's nuclear and military facilities, and killed several top generals. Air raid sirens and explosions rang out across Israel overnight, with its military calling on residents to take refuge in bomb shelters Saturday morning.

Valet Technology eyes Q1 2026 ACE Market listing
KUALA LUMPUR: Valet Technology Sdn Bhd is preparing for a debut on Bursa Malaysia's ACE Market in the first quarter of 2026, as the company accelerates its push into cyber and identity security solutions. Chief executive officer Puan Sri Rayana Abdul Rahman said the proposed initial public offering (IPO) is part of a broader strategy to scale beyond Malaysian borders and deepen the company's research and development (R&D) efforts. "We are on track for an IPO early next year. While capital is one reason, this move is about laying a stronger foundation for our identity security and R&D pipeline," she told Bernama. Founded in 1995 as a traditional manpower-based security services provider, Valet Technology has since transformed into a dynamic, homegrown technology company. Today, it boasts a workforce of over 200 and collaborates with a nationwide network of more than 1,000 system integrators (SIs). Rayana revealed that the company currently generates annual revenue of around RM25 million, with expectations of stronger growth momentum post-listing. She noted that the future of security lies in the seamless integration of physical and digital domains. This convergence will define not just Malaysia's security landscape, but the broader regional industry as well, she added. Rayana stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between public and private sectors in the face of rapidly evolving digital threats. Digital risks are evolving fast, and the threat landscape is constantly shifting, she said, adding that a strong public-private collaboration is required to keep pace. Valet Technology's next chapter will be anchored by its new identity security division in Cyberjaya, a move designed to position the company for long-term regional expansion.
