Deputy Home Minister Attends Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference

BANGKOK, June 25 (Bernama) -- Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah is leading the Malaysian delegation to the Third Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, aimed at strengthening the country's registration system.
Shamsul Anuar said Malaysia's participation in the conference marks an important step towards holistically and inclusively strengthening the registration of births, deaths, marriages, and other vital events.

'All recorded information is used to generate statistics that serve as crucial input for policy formulation and programme planning in areas such as population development, health, education, and employment. These records also provide a valuable reference for researchers and academics,' he said during a gathering with Malaysians residing in Thailand on Wednesday.
He added that the three-day conference, which began on June 24, 2025, offers participating countries the opportunity to deliberate on registration systems to support policy-making efforts.
Also present at the event were Deputy Director-General (Operations) of the National Registration Department, Sarinah Apisah, along with officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the National Registration Department, and the Department of Statistics.
Shamsul Anuar also underscored the Malaysian government's commitment to the welfare of its citizens abroad.
'Through close cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs, Wisma Putra, and relevant agencies, the government is committed to ensuring the protection of Malaysian citizens, their access to identification documents, and strengthened consular support for the Malaysian diaspora,' he said.
He further called on Malaysians living abroad to continue playing an active role in their communities, contributing their expertise to the country, and upholding the noble values that underpin Malaysian unity.

GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Communications is among three ministries recognised for successfully implementing reforms to reduce bureaucratic red tape, earning a special certificate of appreciation for the achievement. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the ministry significantly improved the approval process for foreign film scripts, reducing the timeline from 30 days to just seven, resulting in regulatory cost savings of up to RM2.4 million per production. "This, in turn, enhances Malaysia's competitiveness as a preferred destination for international film production," he said in a Facebook post today. The Ministry's secretary-general, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, received the special certificate from Shamsul Azri at a ceremony in Putrajaya yesterday. Another ministry recognised for its achievement is the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), where reforms were driven through the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), which successfully reduced the approval time for Electric Vehicle Charging Bay Plan Certifications from 28 days to just three. He added that JBPM also expedited the approval process for non-system-based technical plan certifications, reducing it from 30 days to just seven. 'This was achieved through streamlined procedures and the strengthening of the e-Premis system and development of a central data repository, resulting in annual regulatory cost savings of RM1.776 million,' he said. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) successfully reduced barriers to financing in the aerospace sector, generating RM17 million in regulatory savings for 50 small and medium enterprises by boosting production capacity by up to 30 percent. 'Gross profit margins increased by over 20 percent through automation and certification, further strengthening the supply chain and creating more high-skilled jobs. Reforms are being intensified and improvements accelerated,' he said.

10A and above SPM students to get matriculation placements: MOE

KUALA LUMPUR: All students who obtained 10As and above in last year's Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination and applied for the Matriculation Programme will be offered places, regardless of race or background. The Ministry of Education (MOE) said this was agreed upon at today's Cabinet Ministers' Meeting. "This includes students who obtained 10As and had A- results. This policy is the same as the one announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last year. "This decision is made to ensure all top-performing students in the 2024 SPM examination have the opportunity to further their studies,' it said in a statement today. It added that the existing Bumiputera quota system for the Matriculation Programme remains unaffected. PAS distances from controversial FB post, says Johnny Lim's appointment should be celebrated
PETALING JAYA: PAS takes seriously the controversy involving a social media post by one of the party's division leaders speculating on the country's future leadership, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan. The PAS secretary-general, in a statement Wednesday (June 25), emphasised that the post, or any similar posts, were the personal views of the individual and completely contrary to the official policies, resolutions, and vision of PAS. "PAS is committed to and upholds the principles and reality of racial and religious diversity as a unique and valuable characteristic of our society that must be nurtured in the best possible way. "Racism or racialism in any form or colour has no place in PAS, nor does it fit with the broader culture and national aspirations of this country," he said. Takiyuddin said the appointment of Mejar Jeneral Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng as a Leftenan Jeneral of the Malaysian Armed Forces is a historic event that should be celebrated by all citizens. "The abilities, achievements, progress, and success of any Malaysian in any field is good news for everyone. Congratulations from PAS to Leftenan Jeneral Johnny Lim," he said. Takiyuddin also said PAS continually reminds members to remain cautious and careful in their actions.
