Jury deliberations to resume in Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial
NEW YORK (AP) — A Manhattan jury will resume deliberations Friday in Harvey Weinstein 's sex crimes retrial after ending its first day without reaching a verdict in a case that encapsulated the #MeToo movement.
The panel, which was handed the case Thursday morning, has requested to hear a readback of some testimony from two of Weinstein's accusers, as well as to see medical records from one of those women.
The jury of seven women and five men is considering two counts of criminal sex act and one count of rape against the 73-year-old Oscar-winning movie producer, with the criminal sex act charges the higher-degree felonies. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty.
Sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein propelled the #MeToo movement in 2017.
He was eventually convicted of sex crimes in New York and California, but the New York conviction was overturned last year, leading to the retrial before a new jury and a different judge.
Jurors heard more than five weeks of testimony, including lengthy testimony from three accusers.

Wrestling legend Ric Flair reveals cancer diagnosis after previously denying reports
Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair is battling skin cancer for the second time in three years, the Hall of Famer revealed this week. The former WWE star, 76, revealed the diagnosis in an interview with PEOPLE after previously denying reports last month, a decision he told the outlet whad been made out of concern for his privacy. "It's the second time in three years that I've been dealing with skin cancer," he told the outlet. "I will be undergoing treatment next week." Last month, Flair addressed the rumors in a post on X. "I'm Sorry People Have Been Misled By Social Media, But I Don't Have Cancer Of Any Kind," he wrote on May 5. "Thank You For Your Concerns And For Everyone Reaching Out. I Am Absolutely Fine, And Unfortunately, You'll Have To Live And Put Up With Me For Another 25 Years!" Flair announced his split from his fifth wife, Wendy Barlow, in September. In a post announcing the couple's divorce, he thanked Barlow for her support during a serious health complication in 2017. "I'll never be able to thank her enough for standing by my side through my terrible health crisis in 2017. She never left my side! And for that I will always be grateful," he said at the time. "We are working on different projects at the current time & it becomes difficult with my schedule & her schedule to make this work. "I wish her the best of luck with her projects, and I know that she supports mine." Flair was admitted to a hospital in Georgia in 2017, and according to Sports Illustrated's reporting at the time, he underwent surgery to remove part of his bowel. PEOPLE reported that doctors also found that he was in the early stages of kidney failure and on the verge of congestive heart failure, which were results of alcohol abuse. NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Dubbed 'America's largest cultural celebration' with an estimated one million attendees, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade returns to New York City for its 68th year on Sunday. This year's parade follows the theme of 'Plantando Bandera (Planting Roots),' which focuses on recognizing how Puerto Rican communities have established deep roots and positively contributed to their communities. Things To Do Around NYC Event organizers also partnered with New York-native Lin-Manuel Miranda and his company TeeRico, to create merchandise featuring this year's theme. The design combines the Puerto Rican flag with a ceiba tree whose roots stretch around the image a global, symbolizing the deep roots and worldwide influence of Puerto Rican identity. The artwork was created by Puerto Rican artist Jorge Rafael Calderón. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is preceded by the 40th-annual 116th Street Festival in East Harlem on Saturday. More than 500,000 people will celebrate Puerto Rican culture, music, food and more during the 20-block festival.
