Germany, France, UK to hold nuclear talks with Iran in Geneva tomorrow: Sources
The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Britain plan to hold nuclear talks with their Iranian counterpart on Friday in Geneva, a German diplomatic source told Reuters. The ministers will first meet with the European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, at Germany's permanent mission in Geneva before holding a joint meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, the source said. The European initiative comes amid fears of a spiralling conflict in the Middle East after Israel launched wide-ranging military strikes on its arch-enemy Iran last week and Iran sent waves of missiles at Israeli targets in response.advertisement
President Donald Trump has declined to say whether the United States will join its ally Israel's military campaign, fuelling concerns that the crisis could intensify. The aim of the talks between Iran and the Europeans, which the German source said are taking place in coordination with the United States, is to persuade the Iranian side to firmly guarantee that it will use its nuclear programme solely for civilian purposes.According to the source, the talks are to be followed by a structured dialogue at the expert level.Israel has said its goal is to eliminate Tehran's ability to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran denies that its nuclear programme is for military purposes.German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has spoken out in support of Israel's attack and angered Tehran this week by saying the Iranians should de-escalate or face the threat of even greater destruction.Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Wednesday appealed to Iran's leaders to work towards a solution that would involve assurances over its nuclear programme, telling them: "It's never too late to come to the negotiating table".Tune InMust Watch

Israel's Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Hit By Iranian Missile But Market Surges To 52-Week High; Why?
Despite missile attacks at the building site, traders seem undaunted and optimistic. The major index Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is up 4.26 per cent intraday. Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: Iran launched a series of missile attacks on Israel on Thursday, striking several locations including Tel Aviv and Be'er Sheva. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange building was notably damaged, as reported by Al Jazeera and other local media. Significant damage was inflicted on the building after Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles. Despite missile attacks at the building site, traders seem undaunted and optimistic. The major index Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is up 4.26 per cent intraday on Thursday at 6,311. Since the escalation of the conflict, the index has jumped almost 14 per cent or 800 points. Index is now 52-week high. The ongoing Iran–Israel conflict has had a mixed but largely resilient impact on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE). Initially, indices like TA-125 and TA-35 experienced brief declines due to investor panic and geopolitical uncertainty. However, factors such as limited escalation being priced in, strong fundamentals, central bank preparedness, and upward momentum in certain sectors have helped maintain the stability of the exchange. Additionally, the strikes targeted a major hospital in southern Israel. Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service reported that at least 32 people were injured from these latest missile attacks. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Tehran would 'pay a heavy price" for the missile strike on the hospital in southern Israel. Israel's June 13 airstrikes on Iranian soil have sharply escalated the long-running confrontation between the two arch-rivals. Codenamed Operation Rising Lion, the operation involved dozens of Israeli fighter jets targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure, missile factories, and top military personnel. Explosions were reported in Tehran and at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. 'We are at a decisive moment in Israel's history," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a recorded video message. Meanwhile, Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz, announced a 'special situation' as some military officials there confirmed attacks on Iranian nuclear sites. According to Israel's Channel 12, Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and several senior nuclear scientists may have been killed, though Iran has not officially confirmed the casualties. Iran has issued a stern warning against any potential US involvement in the ongoing conflict with Israel, declaring that 'all options are on the table" should Washington take direct action. The statement from Iran comes amid rising tensions and a deepening regional crisis, with Tehran cautioning that American intervention could escalate. The warning underscores Iran's readiness to respond forcefully if the US is perceived as playing an active role in military operations against it.

2025 Repeats 1941s Chaos? Viral X Posts Link Ahmedabad Crash, Wars Chaos And Kumbh Stampede, Twitter Reacts
As 2025 is shaped with a string of catastrophic occurrences in India and worldwide, social media is running rampant with comparisons to 1941, all because the two years' calendars show such an uncanny similarity. Both years started on a Wednesday and have the same date-to-day correspondence, leading people to speculate that history is repeating itself in a year that has been filled with wars and disasters. This year, India has been hit by several catastrophes: a fatal stampede during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj that killed more than 30 people, a terrorist attack on Pahalgam killing 26 tourists, India's counterattack operation Sindoor against Pakistan, a stampede at Bengaluru while celebrating RCB's IPL win that left 11 dead, a factory fire in Gujarat killing 17 people, and an Ahmedabad plane crash that killed 269. These incidents have compared with 1941, a year characterised by global upheaval amidst World War II. In 1941, the world was at war. On May 27, the British Navy had sunk the German battleship Bismarck in the North Atlantic, which cost more than 2,000 German soldiers their lives—a catastrophe some attribute to the Ahmedabad plane crash based on its magnitude of loss. On July 26, US President Franklin Roosevelt confiscated Japanese assets in response to Japan's takeover of French Indochina. Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in Operation Barbarossa, and Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, which brought the US into the war, making wars fiercer in Europe, Asia, and Africa. The world economy fell further into depression. Today, 2025 reflected all that turmoil. The Russia-Ukraine war continues, and Iran and Israel are at outright war, as Israel fired missiles on Iran's nuclear plants, including the Arak reactor, after a Hamas-Israel ceasefire broke down. In South Asia, the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 civilian deaths, led to a four-day India-Pakistan clash, with India's Operation Sindoor against militant facilities and Pakistan firing back, killing 16 civilians. A ceasefire agreement was made on May 10, but tensions are still running high. The same calendars—1941 is not a leap year, nor is 2025, and both are in the Gregorian cycle—have generated viral conversations on X, where people pointed out uncanny similarities between the years' occurrences. "1941 and 2025: same calendar, same chaos?" @AdvAshutoshBJP — ADV. ASHUTOSH J. DUBEY (@AdvAshutoshBJP) June 17, 2025 From Kumbh stampede to Israeli-Iran strikes, 2025's tragedies have left India and the world in shock and dismay, wondering if history's darkest pages are being repeated.

Iran Uses ‘Undisclosed' Missiles In Operation True Promise III, Overwhelms Already Burdened Iron Dome
/ Jun 19, 2025, 01:58PM IST Iran has escalated its military campaign against Israeli-occupied territories in the latest phase of Operation True Promise III, launching hundreds of long-range missiles with increased destructive power. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed strikes across multiple cities, warning civilians in Tel Aviv and Haifa to evacuate immediately. Explosions were reported in both the occupied regions and near Tehran, as air defense systems activated. Iranian officials say these actions are retaliation for Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure. Israel's missile defenses are reportedly nearing depletion, with U.S. media estimating it could last only 10–20 more days. As civilian casualties rise and hypersonic Fattah missiles are introduced, the region edges closer to a broader conflict.#Iran #Trump #MiddleEastTensions #PersianGulf #Khamenei #USIranConflict#BreakingNews #Geopolitics #GulfStates #MilitaryWarning #WarThreat#USBase #IranRetaliation #TrumpVsIran #GlobalSecurity
