Tony Bloom unveils £10million Hearts move as Brighton supremo goes public with his enticing shareholder offer

Daily Record06-05-2025

The man behind the Seagulls' rise is pushing to secure 30 per cent of non-voting shares at Tynecastle
Brighton & Hove Albion owner Tony Bloom has offered to pump almost £10 million into Hearts for a 29 per cent stake in the club.
The Foundation of Hearts – the club's majority shareholders after Ann Budge signed over her shares to the group - will now consult with the Seagulls supremo.

Hearts, on the lookout for a new boss, have already been using Bloom's Jamestown Analytics. Crucially, his investment would see him acquire 'non-voting' shares.

A statement on the Scottish Premiership club's website read: 'Heart of Midlothian can confirm that Tony Bloom has made a proposal to invest capital of £9.86m into the club for which he shall receive a 29% stake in the club via non-voting shares.
'A consultation period with the club's majority shareholders –will now begin.
"The consultation will explain the proposal to FOH members and ascertain their views before asking them to vote on this.
'A majority of FOH members' acceptance is required (as determined by the FoH board) for the proposal to be successfully carried forward.
'Following the FOH consultation process, an Extraordinary General Meeting of the club's shareholders will be called in order to formally approve the transaction.

'In the meantime, the transaction remains subject to entry into legally binding documentation, SFA approval and other normal course regulatory requirements.'

Askou wants 'aggressive not passive' Motherwell

New Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou wants his players to be "aggressive".Former IFK Gothenburg boss Askou, 42, has replaced Michael Wimmer in the Fir Park dugout and his first games in charge will be in next month's League Cup first-round group will play Clyde, Peterhead, Stenhousemuir and Greenock Morton. Askou's first Scottish Premiership fixtures will be in early August."I'm here to make [the players'] dreams come true," said the Dane."I have to push them every day and teach them that they can actually do more than they think they can do. I think that's my most important job." And he added: "Managing style-wise, I believe in being aggressive, I believe in attacking. We attack the opponent if we have the ball or if we don't have the ball."I don't like passive football. I believe in taking the initiative and I want my players to express themselves on the pitch, to show some joy, some passion and respect for the game."Askou cited "the passion about football from the supporters" from his spell as a player with Norwich City from 2009-11 as he prepared to return to the UK."The passion also from the players, I really thrived on that because I am also very passionate about football and winning," he explained."I really hope to experience that again as a manager and a coach. That's something I work on, being good enough to go there and see what I can do with a British team."

It is claimed Rangers have set an asking price of £5million for the 30-year-old as they look to make a profit on the £4.5million paid securing his services from Serie A side Cremonese two years ago. That money could be reinvested in the signing of Frigan following reports that Rangers are preparing an official £6m bid for the 22-year-old striker, who hit 13 goals for Belgian side Westerlo last season. Rangers boss Martin is also said to be interested in Maccabi Tel Aviv front man Dor Turgeman while talks have also been initiated with Leicester City regarding a potential move for Conor Coady.
