
Ivanhoe Pauses Work at Congo Copper Mine After Seismic Activity
Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. paused some operations at its giant copper mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo after experiencing 'seismic activity.'
The Canadian mining company said on Tuesday that it temporarily suspended operations at the Kakula underground mine, part of the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex. Seismic activity was seen over the past week in the eastern section of the mine. All employees were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported, the company said. Operation suspensions started on May 18.
