Amid multiple global challenges and AI becoming unavoidable, Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said that the ongoing tariff wars is pushing businesses to derisk sourcing and that the energy transition adds another layer of uncertainty. Nileknai was speaking at the 44th annual general meeting (AGM) of the company.'Look around us, there's a perfect storm of multiple colliding trends that is raging. Clearly the world is shifting from a single global market to fragmented blocks, forcing companies to make strategic choices and navigate between regions,' Nilekani said in a virtual address to the shareholders on Wednesday. He said that with bilateral and regional trade rules emerging as dominant forces, there is a clear need to accelerate supply chain diversification While regulatory variances across regions present AI implementation complexities, Nilekani said that 'Legacy system modernisation and data architecture overhauls to ensure that all the firms' data as consumable AI are becoming increasingly unavoidable. Companies need both AI foundries for innovation and AI factories for scaling.'With its focus on being an AI native company, Infosys has over 275,000 of its about 320,000 employees trained in AI at different levels of proficiency.Salil Parekh, whose reappointment as Infosys CEO and MD was approved by the shareholders until March end 2027, said the company today is working on 400 generative AI projects for its clients. 'Using AI technologies, we have generated 10 million lines of code, all done through different tools that we use within generative AI,' he said.Parekh said the company has also built 200 agents within Infosys and working on 30 agent based AI engagements being deployed across different clients. On the energy transition bringing in another layer of uncertainty, Nilekani pointed out that with the future depending on the innovation in solar, wind batteries, hydrogen and nuclear technologies, electricity will play a much larger role, requiring massive infrastructure investments in transmission lines, charging stations and transformers.'This transformation, too, will have to deal with regulatory hurdles. The price of commodities will depend on how fast these changes take place,' the Infosys chairman added, explaining how every business sector including automotive, pharma, logistics, financial services and manufacturing, is facing fundamental challenges.Nilekani assured shareholders that 'Infosys offers the stability that organisations need to survive and thrive' and that Infosys today is more relevant than ever to clients.Answering shareholders' questions, Nilekani emphasised that the current wave of global capability centres (GCCs) is not about cost arbitrage but innovation arbitrage. 'Quite a few companies are setting up research centres, AI/ML centres at GCC, and we are helping many of them in this regard. This means that GCC is no longer our competitors. They're critical clients for us on AI,' he said.Besides, the company is also actively moving to tier-2 and 3 cities to enable talent coming in from the regions. It has recently opened centers in Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Hubli in Karnataka, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, Vizag in Andhra Pradesh and Guwahati in Assam. On multiple questions around bonus and buyback, the Infosys chairman assured that the company is committed to returning 85% of free cash flow to the shareholders over FY25-29.

Nestle India rewards shareholders: Board approves 1:1 bonus issue; first in nearly 30 years

Nestle India approves 1:1 bonus shares issue NEW DELHI: Nestle India's board on Thursday approved the issuance of bonus equity shares in a 1:1 ratio. The company, in a regulatory filing, announced that the bonus equity shares with a face value of Re 1 each will be issued in full to shareholders holding equity shares of the same face value. "The record date for determining the entitlement of the members of the company to receive bonus equity shares will be announced in due course," the company stated, as quoted by PTI. The move follows the company's earlier disclosure on June 19, when it announced its intention to consider a bonus share issue. Outgoing Chairman and Managing Director Suresh Narayanan, addressing shareholders at the AGM, said, "...the board of directors have declared a bonus of one equity share, or one equity share held..., which is subject to the approval of the members in the EGM to be held on 24th July, 2025." This is Nestle India's first bonus share issue since 1996 and comes after the recent share subdivision and listing on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2024. The issuance is expected to benefit over 1.6 lakh small shareholders, most of whom hold fewer than five shares—a group that has long awaited such a move. The company described the decision as a gesture of appreciation toward shareholders, stating it was intended to "recognise shareholders' consistent support throughout their growth journey." Following the announcement, the company's stock rose by nearly 1 per cent in morning trade. Shares were last seen trading at Rs 2,426.95 on the BSE, up 0.94 per cent. Nestle board approves 1:1 bonus share issue; stock up 1% in morning trade on June 26

The board of FMCG maker Nestle India approved the issuance of bonus equity shares in the ratio of 1:1 to its existing shareholders on Thursday (June 26, 2025.) 'The bonus equity share of face value of Re.1 will be fully issued to equity shares of face value of Re.1 each, held by the members of the company,' Nestle India said in a regulatory filing. However, "record date for determining the entitlement of the members of the company to receive bonus equity shares will be announced in due course," it added. On June 19, Nestle had announced that the company's board will consider the bonus shares issue. The board of Nestle India, which is also having its annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday (June 26, 2025), approved the issue of 1:1 bonus share, subject to final approval in the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) held by Nestle India on July 24, informed its outgoing Chairman and Managing Director Suresh Narayan. "...the board of directors have declared a bonus of one equity share, or one equity share held..., which is subject to the approval of the members in the EGM to be held on 24th July, 2025," Mr. Narayanan said during his address at the AGM. This is the first bonus issue after the year 1996, with subdivision of shares and NSE listing in 2024. "We believe we have fulfilled a long-standing wish of all the shareholders," he said, adding that this will benefit more than 1.6 lakh small shareholders holding less than five shares each. The company believes that the proposed issuance of bonus equity shares "recognises the steadfast support and loyalty" of the shareholders throughout the company's growth and transformation journey. "Moreover, it will enhance the liquidity of the shares while expanding the…retail investor participation," he added. After this announcement, Nestle India shares jumped nearly 1% in the morning trades. Shares of Nestle India were trading at ₹2,426.95 apiece on the BSE, up 0.94%.

India will continue to be a premier destination for setting up GCCs; govt needs to ramp up infrastructure investment: PwC Report

New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): India will continue to be a top choice for setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs), according to a new report by PwC. The report mentioned that the global companies are showing a strong commitment to keeping their operations in India, with less than 25 per cent of business leaders surveyed considering moving their GCCs out of the country. Instead, they are focusing on expanding and upgrading these centres to become global sourcing hubs for IT and business processes, especially by using artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The report stated, 'India will continue to be a premier destination for setting up GCCs, with global companies committed to maintaining their presence in the country'. As per the data, India is expected to see the addition of over 150 new GCCs in the coming years. To support this growth, national and state governments must increase investment in infrastructure. This will help strengthen the overall GCC landscape in the country and make it more competitive. The report added, 'The national and state governments therefore need to intensify investments in infrastructural development to bolster the Indian GCC landscape'. It also highlighted that leaders from both headquarters and Indian GCCs, across product and service-based companies, have shared suggestions with the government on how to make India a more attractive destination for these centres. These suggestions include steps to improve ease of doing business, technology infrastructure, and regulatory support. GCCs in India have grown over the years from being cost-saving units to becoming innovation-focused and multifunctional centres of excellence. Today, they are playing a central role in their headquarters' global growth strategies. The report described them as 'cost-conscious innovators' that are now key to India's transformation into a global digital powerhouse. The report also pointed out that by implementing the recommended steps, the value generated by Indian GCCs could increase significantly. Currently, GCCs are expected to deliver a value growth of 11-12 per cent during FY25 to FY29. With proper actions, this could rise to 14-15 per cent, resulting in a weighted average compound annual growth rate (CAGR) boost of 3-4 per cent. The report showed a positive outlook for India's role in the global GCC ecosystem and stresses the importance of government support to maintain this momentum. (ANI)
