Mastercard Launches Cyber Resilience Centre in Riyadh

Fintech News ME26-05-2025

Mastercard has launched its Cyber Resilience Centre in Riyadh, an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration within the financial sector to strengthen the Kingdom's commerce and payment security framework.
This marks Mastercard's first such initiative in the Middle East, extending its network of cyber resilience centres already established in Europe and the United States.
Riyad Bank is the first institution to join as a partner and will work with Mastercard on various initiatives including training programmes, risk assessments, and the implementation of international cybersecurity standards.
The establishment of the centre represents a key step in supporting Saudi Arabia's cybersecurity infrastructure and facilitating collaboration to safeguard its rapidly growing digital economy.
As cyber threats become more advanced and persistent, the centre is intended to serve as a platform for organisations to access the tools, knowledge, and strategies necessary to address risks effectively and in real time.
It also aims to contribute to the development of local cybersecurity expertise and promote ongoing learning and capacity building.
The centre will focus on three primary areas.
First, education and training, which involves working with financial institutions to introduce cybersecurity certifications in Arabic and organise knowledge-sharing sessions.
Second, the adoption of standards and best practices to improve trust in the digital landscape, including the creation of benchmarks and measurable progress indicators.
Lastly, risk assessment and readiness efforts will be supported through cyber defence simulations, scenario planning, and workshops designed to anticipate and respond to emerging threats.
Commenting on the partnership, Ibrahim AlSulobi, Senior Vice President and Head of Cyber & Information Security at Riyad Bank, said:
'This partnership enables us to further strengthen our defence frameworks, accelerate the adoption of global best practices of global security, and fortify security in the Kingdom's financial sector. We remain committed to delivering a secure, seamless, and trusted banking experience for every customer.'
Adam Jones, Executive Vice President and Division President for West Arabia at Mastercard, added:
'The launch of the Cyber Resilience Center in Riyadh reflects Mastercard's commitment to staying ahead of emerging risks and helping our partners do the same. We're proud to work with Riyad Bank to help advance a secure ecosystem in the Kingdom, and ensure that people, businesses, and institutions in Saudi Arabia are protected through world-class capabilities.'
Mastercard stated that the Cyber Resilience Centre will help position Saudi Arabia as a regional leader in digital security, reinforcing the country's financial sector as a stable platform for innovation and sustainable economic growth.
The company plans to continue expanding its cybersecurity offerings through innovation and strategic acquisitions.

One in every four new enterprise clients in H1 2025 switched from global CXM vendors to Lucidya

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lucidya, the region's leading AI Customer Experience Management (CXM) platform, announced that one in every four new enterprise clients in H1 2025 made the switch from global CXM vendors. This milestone underscores a growing shift toward platforms purpose-built for Arabic-speaking markets and region-specific regulatory needs. Clients cite Lucidya's advanced Arabic natural language processing, deep CX focus, and regional expertise as decisive factors. The platform currently supports over 15 Arabic dialects with 92% sentiment analysis accuracy, significantly outperforming global alternatives. A key driver behind this shift is Lucidya's alignment with local data privacy regulations, including compliance with Saudi Arabia's National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) guidelines and Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). This makes Lucidya the preferred choice for highly regulated sectors such as government, telecom, and finance. 'Arabic AI accuracy and regional CX leadership are driving this exciting market shift,' said Muhannad Al Shaikh, Chief Commercial Officer at Lucidya. 'Clients choose Lucidya because they see measurable results. Our technology understands context, is fully compliant with local and global regulations, and delivers insights that drive real impact.' This momentum follows a series of strategic leadership appointments earlier this year that have strengthened Lucidya's commercial, product, and go-to-market capabilities, further accelerating regional expansion. About Lucidya Lucidya is an AI-powered unified customer experience platform (CXM) designed to support CX and Marketing leaders in large enterprises, governments, and SMEs across the Arab world. Through the transformative power of AI, Lucidya enables organizations of all sizes to turn raw data into meaningful interactions and actionable insights, allowing them to build human connections and drive real business impact, safely and securely. We are fully compliant with global and regional data privacy and security regulations, including SOC2 for data management standards, and the SDAIA PDPL in KSA. Lucidya also adheres to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), ensuring robust risk management practices, and comply with key US data privacy regulations.

NotebookLM Audio Overviews now available in Arabic

Google is launching Audio Overviews on NotebookLM in more than 50 languages including Arabic, starting this week. Audio Overviews , which turn uploaded sources into engaging, podcast-like conversations, were launched late last year in English. With Gemini's native audio support, people can now use Audio Overviews in their preferred language, and more updates will come to the feature based on users' feedback. Audio Overviews are generated in the preferred language of the user's account. This update also introduces a new 'Output Language' option in NotebookLM's settings. People can change the language at any time, making it easy to create multilingual content or study materials as needed. For example, a teacher preparing a lesson on – climate change in the region can share resources in various languages — like an Arabic documentary, an English research paper and Spanish study reports — with students. The students can upload these and can generate an Audio Overview of key insights in their preferred language. This capability breaks down language barriers and makes the information more accessible to everyone.
