Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor join Shah Rukh Khan's action thriller, King, directed by Siddharth Anand.
Remember the iconic duo, Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, from Ram Lakhan? Their legendary pairing in the 1989 hit will forever be etched in our hearts. Well, they're back together now, this time for Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited action thriller, King! Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is already making waves with its stellar cast. This exciting news comes just ahead of the film's shoot, which kicks off on May 20.
While the details of Jackie Shroff's role is still under wraps, Pinkvilla had earlier reported that Anil Kapoor has come on board to play Shah Rukh Khan's handler and mentor in the film. SRK essays the role of a trained assassin, and Anil's character will guide him through a gritty world of espionage and high-stakes action. 'There were several actors in contention, but Anil Kapoor was unanimously chosen for the part. His on-screen charisma and experience bring just the right weight to the role," a source close to the development revealed.
'King has been written with the sensibilities of the contemporary theatrical audience in mind," the source added. 'It presents Shah Rukh Khan in a never-before-seen avatar—raw, rooted, and emotionally intense. The action will balance slick choreography with realism, making it a true event film."
King is set to be an action-packed thrill ride with not just Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, but also Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma. The makers have also roped in international action directors to make sure the stunts are nothing short of epic.
The project is in the final stages of pre-production and is scheduled to begin filming in Mumbai between May 18 and May 20. Following its India schedule, the unit will fly to Europe for a significant international leg. The film is targeting a release window between October and December 2026, and will be shot over 100 days across multiple locations.
On the musical front, Sachin–Jigar are scoring the songs while Anirudh will handle the background score.

‘The Accountant 2' movie review: Adds up to a fairly good time

An assassin, Anaïs (Daniella Pineda), walks into a bar to meet Raymond King (J.K. Simmons), a former Treasury agent. He tells her he needs help finding a missing Salvadoran family and is then killed in the ensuing shootout. Treasury agent and King's protégée, Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), finds King's body with 'Find the Accountant' scrawled on his arm. Meanwhile, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), aka the Accountant, has gamed the dating app system and finds himself at a singles night, baring his teeth in what he imagines to be a pleasant smile. Though skeptical, Medina contacts Wolff, who ropes in his brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) for backup. Braxton is still a lethal assassin, despite being two weeks away from adopting a corgi puppy (aww) and sharing stories about the well-paid terrier from The Wizard of Oz with the lady at his job site. Chris, who is on the spectrum and brilliant with numbers, works as an accountant for dangerous people around the world. He stays one step ahead of the villains with help from Justine (Allison Robertson, Alison Wright, voice), whom he met as a boy at the Harbor Neuroscience Academy. The Accountant 2 (English) Director: Gavin O'Connor Cast: Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, J.K. Simmons Storyline: A family goes missing, and everyone searching for them ends up in deep trouble. Run time: 132 minutes The hunt for the Salvadoran family pits the trio against human traffickers and all-around bad guys, including Burke (Robert Morgan), Cobb (Grant Harvey), and Batu (Andrew Howard). While not as tightly written as 2016's The Accountant, and therefore not quite as fun, The Accountant 2 shines in scenes where Bernthal and Affleck riff off each other. Shifting the focus away from Affleck's autistic accountant makes the sequel feel more like a standard action flick. The sequel also suffers from several inexplicable plot points. Unlike the original, where Medina's methodical tracking of Christian felt detailed and believable, this film skips over key motivations, starting with why King spent his retirement searching for this one family. Christian's back-story and where he got his particular set of skills added layers of authenticity to the character while helping in the world building. Still, Affleck remains watchable as ever, and even busts out some cool dance moves. What is with all these dancing accountants? We just saw Tom Hiddleston burn up the dance floor in The Life of Chuck! Apparently, a third film and a series are in the works. For fans of The Accountant, the sequel may not deliver the same delight, but it is still a fairly engrossing action film with slick fights and high-octane chases. The Accountant 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video

Queen Camilla stays neutral amid ongoing rift between King Charles and Prince Harry

London, June 7 (UNI) Amid continuing tensions between King Charles and Prince Harry, Queen Camilla has chosen to remain neutral, staying away from the discord that has fractured the British royal family. The Queen "stays out of it", a source told PEOPLE in this week's exclusive cover story. The family's fractures came to light when the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, and today, the deep divide between the King and Harry remains one of the most painful fissures in his reign. Since then, the chasm has widened through a cascade of media exposés, a Netflix docuseries and Harry's incendiary memoir, 'Spare', in which he notably characterised Camilla as a manipulative figure intent on restoring her public image, allegedly at the expense of his own. "I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent, who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar," Prince Harry said in his memoir. In an interview with Good Morning America in 2023, he further explained: "She had a reputation or an image to rehabilitate, and whatever conversations happened, whatever deals or trading was made right at the beginning, she was led to believe that that would be the best way to doing it." Still, Harry struck a tone of reluctant civility, noting: "We haven't spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences. So when I see her, we're perfectly pleasant with each other. She's my stepmother. I don't look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake", reports PEOPLE. King Charles is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, adding pressure to reconcile with Harry before it's too late. Although both were recently in North America, they didn't meet. In 'Spare', Harry opened up about his conflicted feelings surrounding his father's marriage to Camilla and alleged that she traded information with the press to salvage her public image. There has been a desire to reconnect at times, but "the underlying issue is trust", according to royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith. "The King and William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation," Bedell Smith says. Insiders add that King Charles isn't encouraged by his inner circle. The Prince of Wales has shown no interest in extending an olive branch, and senior aides like Clive Alderton, who was targeted in 'Spare', are unlikely to encourage outreach. "There is not a good angel in his ear to say, 'Be a good dad and make the first move,' " says Valentine Low, author of the upcoming book 'Power and the Palace'. UNI NST RN

Top Akshay Kumar Day 1 Openers: Housefull 5 emerges the actors's 4th best starter; Mission Mangal, Sooryavanshi and Gold remain atop

Akshay Kumar has delivered his 4th biggest opener at the Indian box office with his recent killer-comedy, Housefull 5. The movie has collected Rs 22 crore net and it is a good result given how difficult it is to even take a decent start in today's time. The film is just under Mission Mangal (Independence Day), Sooryavanshi (Post-Diwali Day) and Gold (Independence Day). Consequently all of Akshay Kumar's top 3 openers were aided by a Holiday while Housefull 5 has managed these numbers on a non-holiday Friday. Top Akshay Kumar Day 1 Openers Are As Under (Lead Roles): 1. Mission Mangal - Rs 28.50 crore 2. Sooryavanshi - Rs 26.25 crore 3. Gold - Rs 23.75cr 4. Housefull 5 - Rs 22 crore 5. Kesari - Rs 20.50 crore Rs 22 crore start gives Housefull 5 a strong foundation to grow over the Holiday weekend. Based on the trends, there is a growth of 35 percent on Saturday and Sunday should also remain strong, for a weekend of Rs 83-85 crore net. The numbers internationally are the best for an Akshay Kumar starrer. The weekend projections are over USD 4 million. Housefull 5 is a pricey film and the theatrical recoveries are very important for it to turn profitable. At Rs 275 crore worldwide, the movie will just about recover its budget and at Rs 325 crore worldwide, it'll be well in contention to emerge a hit fare. As things stand, Housefull 5 will have to hold strong over the weekdays after a good weekend in order to sail through. Whatever be the eventual result, it is heartening that a film has atleast taken a start to build on, that too on a non-holiday. The starts are getting rarer and the industry should take what the audience is signalling, very seriously. Housefull 5 plays in theatres now. 2 versions of the movie have released - A and B. Both versions have a different killer, increasing the intrigue among its target audience. If you have watched Housefull 5, which version of the film did you watch? Do let us know. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Housefull 5.
