Driver who plowed through Liverpool FC parade ID'd as ‘normal, well balanced' suburban family man: report
The man arrested for mowing down dozens of Liverpool FC soccer fans at a championship parade with a minivan has been identified as a 'normal, well balanced' middle-class father, according to a report.
The 53-year-old suspect has been revealed to be a small business-owner who lived in a detached home in a Liverpool suburb with his teacher wife and their children, The Times of London reported.
Neighbors said the suspect, who has not yet been charged or publicly named, was 'such a normal Liverpool dad' and a 'genuinely pleasant family man,' according to the outlet.
'I briefly chatted to him six months ago. He seemed fairly normal, and as people go, quite down to earth and a normal, well balanced guy,' an anonymous former neighbor said, adding he was a 'very sensible family man.'
7 Video captured the moment the minivan rammed into the crowd during the Liverpool FC parade on May 26, 2025.
'He was quite proud of his oldest child, and he was telling me how well they were doing. I got the sense he's proud of his family,' that ex-neighbor dished to the outlet.
A current neighbor told the outlet the 53-year-old suspect once came to their house in the middle of the night to help them turn off a malfunctioning alarm, The Times of London reported.
'He was very thoughtful, and would look out for older residents in the street,' the neighbor told the publication.
'I really struggle to believe how he could be the [arrested man]. He's the last person on this street I would have thought would be connected to something like that,' the neighbor added.

Social media reviewed by the Times of London revealed that the suspect competed in triathlons and took vacations to exotic locations.
British police are still questioning the man in connection with the unconscionable driving crash that saw scores of Liverpool FC boosters injured, with 79 people taken to area hospitals, including two young children.
Video showed the car encircled on Water Street by hundreds of fans who were partaking in the celebration of Liverpool FC's Premier League Championship win, which drew tens of thousands of people to the streets.

The driver of the Ford Galaxy is believed to have followed an ambulance onto the crowded street, which was attempting to help a person in the crowd suffering from a heart attack, The Times of London reported, citing local law enforcement officials.
Fans enraged at the infraction poured in around the minivan and began beating at the windows and the windshield, causing yellow-vested cops to try and intervene, video showed.
The car lurches back then accelerates down the street striking numerous people — sending one fan flying head over heels across its hood, according to the footage.

At one point, the driver veers into a densely packed part of the crowd, hitting even more people before stopping the vehicle, according to video.
Police are still holding the 53-year-old in custody for questioning on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving offences, and driving while unfit through drugs, according to The Times of London.
Seven people remain hospitalized in stable condition as a result of the incident and there were zero fatalities, the publication reported.

Madeleine McCann: Investigators end latest searches for missing British girl
Investigators in Portugal have ended their latest searches for Madeleine McCann after three days. Police have been scouring scrubland and abandoned structures near the town of Praia da Luz, where the three-year-old British girl went missing 18 years ago. Officers could be seen holding pitchforks as they combed land in an area on the outskirts of Lagos in the Algarve on Thursday. Search teams involving German and Portuguese officers, as well as firefighters, used pickaxes and shovels to dig undergrowth, and a digger was again used to remove rubble from an abandoned structure at the site. They spent two days focusing on one particular derelict building, using a ground-penetrating radar on the cobbled ground after clearing the area of debris and vegetation. British officers have not been present for the latest searches, the Metropolitan Police said. German and Portuguese investigators could be seen shaking hands and embracing as the search drew to a close. The officers stood in a circle for a debrief before taking part in a round of applause. Authorities have not yet commented on the ending of the latest searches. So far, officers have not announced they have found anything of significance. Read more: German authorities had requested the search as part of their continued attempts to find evidence to implicate suspect Christian B. The suspect, who cannot be fully identified under German law, is coming to the end of a prison sentence for the rape of an elderly American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005. He has not been charged or indicted over Madeleine's disappearance and denies any involvement. It comes 18 years after three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from Praia da Luz while on holiday with her family in 2007. She vanished after she was left sleeping while her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, went for dinner in a nearby restaurant. If we do not control our borders, Britain will not exist in the next century
It is the truth that dare not speak its name. The daily reality for millions of people in this country. Britain is changing before our very eyes. And, for years, our two-faced leaders have been pretending it isn't happening. Even now, as the Prime Minister throws off the cosy blanket of immigration denial and embraces the brave new world of 'smashing the gangs' and 'strangers' in our own land, I get the feeling that Westminster still doesn't get it. Countless politicians continually pitch up on TV programmes and radio shows branding anyone who wants to safeguard our borders as far-Right. Just this week, when newly elected Reform MP Sarah Pochin dared to ask during PMQs whether our illustrious leader might consider banning the burqa, a collective groan rose from the Chamber. There was also a sharp intake of breath as the incumbents of the Commons realised just what exactly was going on. Of course Sir Keir Starmer refused to even consider answering the question. Along with the majority of MPs he finds such questions all rather distasteful. They would rather declare war on Russia than admit that immigration has changed the fabric of our country forever. Never before have our elected representatives been so out of touch with the British public. They have been gaslighting us for years. Boris Johnson supported globalism and immigration. He never really meant it when he promised to reduce net migration. Theresa May was useless whenever she went to negotiate with Brussels on freedom of movement. And when she tried to create a hostile environment for illegals, she was painted as some kind of cross between Attila the Hun and Pol Pot. No government has been truly honest with the electorate about immigration. Time after time we have been told not to be bigoted. We've been encouraged to embrace a multicultural society. We've learned that kebab shops and Turkish barbers are enriching our society. After all, diversity did build Britain, didn't it? And it's our greatest strength, isn't it? Well now the chickens have truly come home to roost. I've been telling my audience at Talk for years that mass immigration – which has allowed millions of people to come and settle here in the past decade or two – is unsustainable. And this week that same audience has signalled that enough is enough. Entire towns, cities and neighbourhoods have been transformed – and not for the better. But does your MP care? Does your local council worry about what might be happening? We have come a very long way from the time when local administrations from John O'Groats to Lands End decided it would be a great idea to rename the local High Street Nelson Mandela Way. Now, thanks to a fascinating study by Professor Matt Goodwin, we know that the effect of mass immigration on this country means that we are losing our identity. According to Goodwin, white British people will become a minority by 2063. The foreign born and their children will be a majority by 2079. And, incredibly, roughly one in five people will be Muslim by the year 2100. This news should come as no surprise to anyone who has been listening to Talk since 2015. Visit parts of Birmingham, Rochdale, Blackburn, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds: what you will find are communities which are not British. English is not spoken as a first language by many. British mores of conduct, behaviour and politeness have gone out the window. And yet, despite what we see before our very eyes, our politicians are busy trying to convince us that this is all good. Heaven forbid you should question government policy. Make no mistake; the Tories were no better than this current lot. In fact, on their watch, immigrants became ever more bold in their attempts to come here. No one with a brain will think that immigration is all bad. Of course there are brilliant things that different people from all round the globe bring to a country like Britain. We can wax lyrical about amazing restaurants, cool festivals, convenient food delivery and the joy of learning about different cultures. But please, don't pee down my back and pretend that it's raining. There is a world of difference between people who come here to make a new life for themselves and those who are connected to criminal gangs. There can never be a justification for welcoming young men who brandish swords and machetes in our high streets. And families who arrive on our shores while refusing to integrate or learn our language should not be welcome in our future. The gaslighting is over. The die is cast. If we do not reverse the current state of play on our borders, we won't make it to the next century. Murder arrest after teenager killed in ‘hit and run'
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was hit by a car that appeared to mount the pavement, police have said. CCTV footage of the incident in the Darnall area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, appears to show a grey Audi veering into the opposite carriageway before hitting the 16-year-old boy at speed as he walked along the road. He was taken to hospital, but later died. An 18-year-old man riding an electric bike, was also hit by the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital. The driver of the Audi failed to stop at the scene, South Yorkshire Police said. Police also said a 20-year-old man had been arrested in Kent on suspicion of murder. Three people, a 45-year-old woman and two men aged 26 and 46, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remain in custody. Det Ch Insp Benjamin Wood, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: 'This is a tragic incident in which an entirely innocent bystander, who was going about his daily business, has sadly lost his life. 'Our thoughts are with the boy's loved ones, and we remain focused on securing justice for them. 'We know that this incident will have caused concern in the local community, and we have a team of detectives working at pace to piece together the circumstances which unfolded. 'We're aware of footage being shared online, and I'd like to reiterate our message to the public to withhold from speculating or circulating videos, which may cause distress to the boy's family. 'If you have any footage, imagery or information that may help our investigation then please share this directly with us – it may form an important part of our enquiries. We are also keen to hear from the riders of two electric bikes who were in the area at the time of the incident.' Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism.
