Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) has been an Emmerdale staple since arriving back in 1986.
More recently, he has grappled with adjusting to living with Parkinson's.
Today's episode sees things take an unfortunate turn for the soap legend.
While carrying heavy boxes at David's Shop, Eric is visibly strained and ends up injuring himself.
Kerry (Laura Norton) and Tracy (Amy Walsh) both notice their boss trying to hide his injury - but he brushes off their concern about his health.
In particular, Eric clashes with Kerry, whom he also lives with at Wishing Well Barn.
She tells him: "Don't be a silly divvy and just admit that you're slowing down."
But a furious Eric replies: "How dare you speak to me like that! I don't want a lift from you or anything else.
"You either speak to me with respect, or you start looking around for another home."
Later on, Eric is taking his medication at home when he stumbles and falls to the ground.
Eric Pollard sinks to shocking low in Emmerdale - as he betrays fiancee Brenda Walker
Having been left on the floor, he desperately pleads out loud for someone to help him.
What will happen to Eric from here?
The character first discovered he had Parkinson's after being diagnosed in 2023.
Emmerdale worked closely with the charity Parkinson's UK, who will continue to support the production team to give Eric's story a realistic and authentic depiction, whilst creating awareness of the condition and how it affects those afflicted.
Eric Pollard's biggest Emmerdale storylines

As Emmerdale's current longest-serving character, Eric Pollard has seen his fair share of drama.
Introduced in 1986, the character was originally portrayed as a villain - but this has been since downplayed.
Here is a look back at some of Eric's biggest storylines from over the years. Long lost son: Having had an affair with Lydia Halliwell, Eric left unaware that she was pregnant. His son David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) arrived in the village during 2006 - and ended up staying until 2023.

Marriages: Eric has tied the knot on five occasions. His five ex-wives are Eileen Pollock, Elizabeth Feldmann, Dee la Cruz, Gloria Weaver and Val Lambert. Eric's current partner is Brenda Walker - played by actor Chris Chittell's real-life wife Lesley Dunlop.

Parkinson's diagnosis: In 2023, Eric left fans heartbroken after it was revealed he'd been diagnosed with Parkinson's - the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
Chris Chittell, who plays Eric, said at the time: "I feel really privileged to be given this storyline.
"Parkinson's is indiscriminate, deceptive and wickedly unkind targeting so many.
"I want to do this storyline justice for the most courageous of people who are having to bear the brunt of this condition.'
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.

While she's been making big money on the platform, having claimed to have taken home £700,000 in 2022, Sarah has found herself the target of cruel trolling. Taking to Instagram to confront her latest bully, she sarcastically responded to their nasty comment. The follower had written: "Yeah why not just make sure your kids get bullied because of your content just so you can get a little validation from people you don't know, good idea." But Sarah - who shares son Stanley, nine, with her husband Jonathan Smith - made sure to clap back with humour, pretending to read a positive one in a get-ready-with-me video. With the aforementioned jibe shown on the screen, she instead read: "Thanks for your inspiring content. Your son is really lucky to have a mom like you that loves him so much. Please show us some more of your outfits." Sarah then enthused: "Of course I will! What a kind, kind comment. Thank you. I will happily show you another outfit," before proceding to talk her fans through what she had been wearing. At the end, she concluded: "Thanks again for that really, really lovely, positive comment." The actress quit the Channel 4 soap for a career on OnlyFans three years ago. Hollyoaks said it doesn't allow cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites because of the show's responsibility to its young audience. Axed Hollyoaks star reveals she's now a pole dancing teacher as she shows off her moves in thong and high heels Speaking about posting on OnlyFans before, Sarah said it was "about taking back control, about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices". More recently, Sarah revealed her new job after quitting the soap, and will be teaching her first ever pole class. Sharing images of herself pole dancing, the actress penned: 'I'm excited and terrified in equal measure… because very soon, I'll be stepping into a whole new challenge- teaching my first beginners' pole class! 'Pole has been a huge part of my life for over two years now. I first found it just after lockdown, a little before turning 41, when I was looking for something fun, but challenging. 'From the very first spin, I was hooked. What started as a way to move and push myself has become so much more- strength, confidence, and a whole new community of incredible, supportive people who lift each other up (literally!).' 7 She shares son Stanley, nine, with her husband Jonathan Smith Credit: Instagram 7 Sarah has been making six figures on OnlyFans Credit: Instagram 7 She has been posting images of herself pole dancing recently Credit: instagram Sarah continued: 'I've recently started 1:1 training with a new pole coach, and I can already feel myself improving in ways I never expected. 'Pole is as tough as it is beautiful, what looks effortless takes an insane amount of strength, control, and resilience. But that's what I love about it. Every move mastered feels like a little victory, and there's always a new challenge to take on. 'Now, I'm about to take the next step, sharing everything I've learned with others. My beginner's classes will be for absolute newbies or anyone wanting to go back to basics! 'I'll be teaching at the same studio where my journey began too which is exciting @PoleGymholmeschapel, and I can't wait to help others discover just how empowering pole can be.' Sarah showed off her toned physique in the carousel of images, as she promoted her new pole class. She worte a sparkly leotard and had her hair in a colourful plait as she revealed her pole skills for her fans. One person commented: 'These photos are mind boggling @sarahjaynedunn they're full of warrior woman power and I love them! You'll be amazing. You've excelled at this and been so determined. All the joys!' Someone else penned: 'Wow you look incredible Sarah, I remember when you first started, amazing how far you've come. So pleased for you, all the best for your next chapter.' And another added: 'You will be wonderful we just know it. Our gorgeous girl who can achieve anything she puts her mind to.' It's not the first time that Sarah has shown off her sensational figure in a skimpy pole dancing outfit. The star has been praised for her toned body after completely transforming her physique. She looked ageless as she shared a series of photographs after working out and doing some intense pole dancing. "My knees have almost recovered," Sarah penned in the caption of her sizzling set of snaps, revealing that she suffered some pain after her intense work out sessions. She went on to add: "If you missed my stories last month, I had the BEST workshop with @dapnelux, is was a HUGE challenge- those moves were FAST, especially tying them all together to music!" Sarah added: "I left feeling tired but inspired to sign up for more workshops this year with this wonderful community of supportive women. "I've got much further to go before I'm anywhere near as slick as Daphne (although she has been at it much longer than me!) but what an inspiration!" One fan remarked: "You look absolutely amazing. Your body shape has changed so much. Great job." A second said: "I can't believe how much your physic has changed! Looking fab!" 7 The former soap star played the role of Mandy Richardson from 1996 to 2001 Credit: Lime Pictures

Who is the body in the lake of Emmerdale?

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) will be questioned by a police officer in tonight's episode of Emmerdale, after confessing to the murder of Anthony Fox. Last week, Ruby got word that a body had been pulled out of the lake near the village. She immediately assumed it was her abusive father Anthony, and that was where John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) had disposed of him months ago. In order to save the other people who knew about Anthony's murder from prison, Ruby secretly went to the station and confessed on her own. She will be interviewed by a detective, but the situation will change dramatically when they later learn the body in the lake is not Anthony at all. Here's everything you need to know about what's ahead in Emmerdale for the rest of the week. The corpse is actually Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). After Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) had an affair with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), Nate and Tracy's marriage broke down again and Tracy asked for a divorce. Nate was devastated about the affair and also about the breakdown of his relationship. After a while they seemed to have repaired things, but a false accusation from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) that Nate was having an affair with Moira (Natalie J Robb) again destroyed things, as Tracy believed Cain and Nate was shattered by her lack of trust in him. Subsequently Nate announced that he'd taken a job in Shetland and left the village. We learnt in April that John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) killed Nate last year, and then disposed of his body in the lake. More Trending In an episode that featured flashback scenes, it was established that John lives with a hero complex. He orchestrates terrible situations and then steps in to fix them, looking like a great person in front of the Emmerdale residents. When it comes to Nate, John attempted to help him after he was attacked by Cain. He gave Nate some medication but he reacted badly to it, leading to his death. View More » Nate's family will learn about his murder before the week ends. Amid their devastation, they will be told they're not able to see Nate's body, due to it being badly decomposed. Emmerdale's big Robert Sugden return falls flat as ratings are revealed – and it's bad news for the soap

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EMMERDALE'S big return for Robert Sugden failed to impress fans - with ratings DROPPING from the previous night. The ITV soap's big comeback for actor Ryan Hawley six years was hoped to bring in a major ratings boost for the cash-strapped channel. In fact the episode broadcast the evening before his comeback pulled in just over 3.1m viewers. By Wednesday, the day of Robert's big return - and despite ITV axing the episode from its streaming service ITVX in an effort to get people to watch the TV broadcast - just over 3m tuned in with the show losing viewers. Worst still - the next night that continued Robert's return saw a further 600,000 viewers switch off. In contrast the first edition after Robert was returned to prison, the following Monday's episode rebounded to 3.1m. A source said: 'It's not ideal for such a big moment to not pull in the numbers. 'Bosses expected a great deal of excitement from fans about Robert's return but it doesn't seem to have transferred into actual ratings. 'The so-called Robron coupling was seen as a previous heyday for the show to tap into - but the reality appears to be quite different. 'With all the cuts ITV is having to make, people will be wondering if his return is worth it.' Actor Ryan, who quit the show in 2019, recently revealed he had been struggling for work during his six year absence from the show. Coronation Street and Emmerdale humiliated at British Soap Awards as rival soap wins EIGHT gongs It even led him to move to Brazil with his wife Daisy Prestes de Oliveira and their children for a life away from the spotlight. 'I've got to do things like All Creatures Great and Small, Miss Scarlet, Casualty and Silent Witness,' he told the Mirror. 'I wasn't as busy as I would have liked, but that meant I got to be around my kids a lot, so I was very lucky.' The ITV soaps both suffered a blow at this year's British Soap Awards with Emmerdale winning just two awards and Coronation Street on compared to EastEnders' eight and Hollyoaks' three.
