Consecration of ‘Raja Ram', other deities held at Ram Temple in Ayodhya
The consecration of 'Raja Ram'— Lord Rama in his royal form— along with the installation of idols in eight newly built temples inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex was held on Thursday (June 5, 2025) in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The ritual was the second major consecration ceremony at the temple, the first being that of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ceremony took place during the 'Abhijit Muhurat', considered one of the most auspicious moments in the Hindu calendar.
The consecration of the deities began with prayers at the 'yajna mandap' at 6:30 a.m., followed by a 'havan' at 9 a.m., which lasted an hour. Thereafter, centralised rituals began simultaneously across all temple shrines, aided by visual technology like cameras and large screens, ensuring synchronicity of the ceremonies.
According to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, among the deities consecrated were Shri Ram Darbar (central installation), Sheshavatar, Lord Shiva in the northeast (Ishan) corner, Lord Ganesha in the southeast (Agni) corner, Lord Hanuman at the southern wing, Surya (Sun God) in the southwest (Nairitya) corner, Goddess Bhagwati in the northwest (Vayavya) corner and Goddess Annapurna in the northern wing.
Mr. Adityanath offered prayers at the Ram Temple, had darshan of the 'Ram Darbar' on the first floor, and visited Hanumangarhi temple nearby.
'Today, in the holy birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya Dham, we are getting the great fortune of becoming a witness to the programme organised for the Pran-Pratishtha of the holy idols of gods in the eight temples including Shri Ram Darbar on the first floor of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple,' he posted on X.
He added, 'This auspicious occasion is a new expression of 'Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat'. Victory to Siyavar Shri Ramachandra!' The BJP, which is in power at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, took to X and posted: 'The second festival of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha concluded today in Ayodhya. A step towards Ram Rajya'.
Ram Temple trustee Anil Mishra told PTI that the ceremonies were performed in accordance with Vedic traditions, with the participation of learned Brahmins from across the country.
'The day of Ganga Dussehra will symbolise a new beginning. It will be the moment when the fruits of centuries of penance, struggle, and faith will manifest in tangible form,' he said.
Ahead of the ceremony which took place on the occasion of Ganga Dusshera, Mahant Raghuvar Sharan, the chief priest of Rasik Niwas Temple in Ayodhya, told PTI, 'This year, Ganga Dussehra will not only be sacred but also historic, as after a long struggle of 500 years, Lord Ram, known as 'Rajarama', will be ceremonially installed on the first floor of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya.' Explaining the significance of the date, Ayodhya-based astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram said, 'Any auspicious deed performed on Ganga Dussehra yields manifold results. Perhaps this is why the Ram Temple Trust chose this day for the consecration of Rajarama.' Pilgrims in large numbers flocked the temple complex, celebrating what many described as a 'landmark moment' in the city's and nation's spiritual history.

Panaji, Amid protests by a section of taxi operators regarding the draft guidelines on cab aggregators, the Goa government on Saturday stated the proposed rules would help boost business for local taxi operators. Goa's Transport Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, aim to regulate app-based taxi services, ensuring driver welfare and affordable rides. These guidelines require aggregators to possess a valid license from the Goa government and comply with operational and legal stipulations. In an exclusive interaction with PTI, Director of Transport P. Pravimal Abhishek stated that the draft guidelines stipulate that any aggregator wishing to operate in Goa must use vehicles registered in the state and employ only drivers who hold a valid badge issued in Goa. "Therefore, there is no question of any outside taxi or drivers coming in and taking over the traditional business of Goans. These guidelines aim to protect and improve the livelihoods of local taxi drivers," he said. The assurance was prompted by protests against the proposed guidelines, with taxi operators claiming they would negatively impact their business. These operators have been lobbying against the draft by meeting with local MLAs. Abhishek highlighted that the guidelines promote a 3G Model: Goan Taxis, Goan Drivers, and Government Fares. "We have received over 1,600 suggestions from various stakeholders across society, and the tone of these suggestions has been largely positive and constructive. Some of the feedback includes important recommendations that we will consider once the consultation period ends," he added. Eid namaz barred at Srinagar's Jama Masjid, CM Omar Abdullah says, ‘learn to trust our people'
Authorities in Srinagar on Saturday did not allow Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the Eidgah ground and the historic Jama Masjid in the old city. The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid, which manages the mosque, issued a statement saying, 'Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar deeply regrets to inform that the authorities have once again disallowed Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the Eidgah as well as at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar,' reported news agency PTI. The release stated that the gates of the mosque were closed and police personnel were deployed outside. The statement further said that even the early morning Fajr prayers were not allowed. Chief minister Omar Abdullah expressed disappointment over the restrictions. Speaking to reporters, he said, 'While we are celebrating Eid, unfortunately, once again, permission was denied to offer namaz in Srinagar's iconic Jama Masjid. I don't know the basis of these decisions, but we need to learn to trust our people.' Referring to recent public solidarity, he said, 'These are the same people who came out to protest against the Pahalgam terrorist attack... The government should think about allowing namaz in the historic Jama Masjid.' 'I hope this Eid brings better days ahead for the Muslims of India and the world. I hope it brings peace and strengthens brotherhood.' the CM added. Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq claimed he was placed under house arrest.
