Stadler and Amey Headline Sponsors for Public Transport Summit
Transport for Wales has announced that Stadler and Amey will be headline sponsors at the Public Transport Summit taking place in Wrexham.
Wales' first Public Transport Summit will take place on May 22 and 23 and is designed to bring together both Wales and England's influential transport and business leaders.
The two-day Summit will look to unlock economic prosperity through the public transport lens.
Over the last five years, Stadler and Amey have become partners in helping deliver transformative change to the public transport network in Wales.
Stadler have provided brand-new trains to the Wales and Borders rail network in Wales and Amey have been a key partner in delivering the £1 billion electrification of the South Wales Metro.
James Price, Transport for Wales CEO, said:

Trains between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury disrupted after points failure

Train chaos after freight train breakdown at Caldicot
The incident, which began early in the morning, led to all lines being blocked in both directions, causing significant delays and cancellations for commuters and travellers. National Rail first reported the problem at around 7am, warning that trains could be delayed by up to 50 minutes, cancelled, or revised. The disruption affected key services, including CrossCountry trains between Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central, Great Western Railway services between London Paddington and Swansea or Carmarthen, and Transport for Wales trains between Cheltenham Spa and Cardiff Central. At around 7.25am, National Rail confirmed the cause of the disruption, stating it was "due to a broken down freight train at Caldicot." The organisation advised that disruption was expected to last until at least 8.30am, but it remained until around 9am. To help passengers, Transport for Wales arranged rail replacement buses supplied by Ferris Calling, running between Cheltenham Spa, Gloucester, and Cardiff Central. National Rail issued guidance for those using these replacement services, noting that "replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey." Passengers were also encouraged to check real-time updates using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner and to look for station signage for pick-up and set-down locations. National Rail also reminded affected travellers about compensation, stating: "You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. "Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim." By 8.01am, National Rail confirmed that all lines had reopened, but warned that delays and cancellations could still be expected until 8.30am. The organisation said: "Trains running between Gloucester and Cardiff Central in both directions may continue to be cancelled, delayed by up to 50 minutes or revised." The situation was finally resolved at 9.58am, when National Rail announced that the disruption had ended and services had returned to normal. Passengers who experienced delays are advised to keep their tickets and check the National Rail website for information on how to claim compensation.
