Deputies: Motorcyclist hospitalized after crashing into tree near Port Sheldon
PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after he ran off the road and hit a tree in Port Sheldon Township, deputies say.
Around 6:20 p.m., the 34-year-old on a Honda Grom motorcycle was headed east on Port Sheldon Street near Butternut Drive when deputies say he swerved off the road and crashed into a tree.
He was taken to the hospital with 'serious injuries,' according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say he was not wearing a helmet.
The crash is still under investigation.

Arrest made in gas station shooting that left 2 injured
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An arrest has been made in a shooting at a Hickory Hill gas station that left a man and a juvenile critically injured last month. Tariq Robinson, 21, is charged with two counts of criminal attempt first-degree murder, two counts of employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and criminal attempt especially aggravated robbery. ORIGINAL STORY: Two injured in Hickory Hill gas station shooting On May 29, Memphis Police say they responded to the Circle K gas station on 6193 Mount Moriah Road Extended regarding a shooting call. A male victim was found sitting in he driver's seat of a Corolla suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hand and face. A juvenile victim was later found after he ran from the Corolla during the shooting. Police say the male juvenile was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper left leg and abrasions to his face. They were both taken to the hospital in critical condition. Man allegedly shoots coworker after 'exchange of words' Video footage showed two men getting out of a white Nissan Altima and walking toward the two victims sitting in the Corolla. Witnesses say they saw one of the suspects running after the Corolla when it left the parking lot and began yelling, 'get out the car, get out the car' as it drove off. The suspect is then accused of firing shots into he back of the Corolla. On June 2, Memphis Police Violent Crime Unit investigators conducted a search warrant on the suspect's Nissan Altima. The investigators said a wallet was found in the front passenger side of the vehicle belonging to Kevon Chapman, and another was found in the backseat belonging to Tariq Robinson. Tariq Robinson was booked into jail on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning. His bond has yet to be set. Suspect hides in trap door during SWAT raid in Murray
MURRAY, Utah () — A Murray man is in police custody after a SWAT raid revealed a number of illegal narcotics and weapons. Shannon Ashcraft, 52, was booked in the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple drug distribution charges Tuesday morning. Court documents show that just after 5 a.m., SWAT from the carried out a no-knock search warrant at Ashcraft's home in Murray. According to police, Ashcraft was located hiding in a trap door located in a back bedroom of the home. Officers also found keys lying on the ground inside the trap door. 'They stripped her of her humanity': Former nurse dies in assisted living facility after being left unattended for 6 hours After further examination, police found the keys to match a black safe located inside of a closet which was also connected to the back bedroom. Inside the safe, police allegedly found large amounts of meth, heroin, and morphine pills. According to a probable cause statement, officers also found four 'very large swords' which were straight-blades and longer than 18 inches. Court documents also allege that officers found a bat in the home which 'had a sword that detached from it'. Ashcraft was arrested for three counts of illegal drug possession with intent to distribute, interfering with a peace officer, and four counts of dangerous weapon conduct by a restricted person. State police to hand out 1.5K handgun safes to promote safe storage
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police say they'll soon be issuing 1,500 handgun safes to new pistol permit recipients as part of their Safe Storage Initiative CT program. The program is meant to raise awareness and education about the safe storage of firearms. Connecticut advocates push to raise awareness of gun storage safety The safes were funded by a Byrne-SCIP grant and will be issued to recipients at state police headquarters in Middletown. They'll also come with a pamphlet outlining safety recommendations and relevant laws. Gun Storage Check Week is also this week, spanning from June 1 to June 7. State police said it's an important time to remember improper storage can lead to accidents, suicides, or thefts. The Safe Storage Initiative is expected to launch on July 1.
