Love Island's Sophie Lee shares tragic story about fire-breathing accident which left her in intensive care
Love Island is finally back and ready to take over our summers once again, with a brand new set of islanders we are ready to obsess over.
And already, it seems fans have their favourites, with Sophie Lee receiving praise for opening up about the shocking story about a fire-breathing accident, which resulted in facial burns.
The 29-year-old was sat with Harry Cooksley, where she explained: 'When I was 22 I was in a fire accident. It made me the woman that I am. It made me learn so much about life and interactions with people and how to be better.'
Sophie and Harry has since been paired together, with the girls choosing who they want to couple up with based on short bios left by the boys. While there doesn't seem to be a romantic connection as of yet, things may change as the series develops.
Viewers have since dubbed Sophie as 'inspiring' for sharing her story with the others, with many praising the star on social media.
Sophie previously worked as a fire-breather, and suffered extreme burns when performing at an event in Chicago after air-con resulted in fire being blown back into her face.
'The air-con was too strong so when I blew the fire out it blew back to me,' she told Fabulous. "It set me on fire. I just remember being in so much pain, I blacked out for a little bit. It's crazy.
"It happened in front of everyone and I had to get on with it as professionally and quickly as I could. As soon as I got into the ambulance, I was in bits.'
Sophie spent over a month in intensive care over in the States, where doctors treated her severe burns.
'That was a scary, scary time. I couldn't breathe by myself, I couldn't eat, I couldn't really see, it was scary. I was pretty out of it but on day two on looked in the mirror and just cried,' she explained.
The burns then became a keloid tumour, which Sophie had to treat herself with liquid nitrogen and steroid injections, as well as a round of chemotherapy. Doctors have since reconstructred her face, but she has now been left with permanent scarring.
Sophie has since written a book about her experience, In My Skin. She also works as a motivational speaker.
'I want to speak to young girls, really get the message out there that you should love yourself for everything you are,' she said.
"It's taken me a long time to accept my body, especially with the industry I was in, I was always scrutinised for how I look.
"But with this accident it's crazy. Because the one time I feel like I should be most body conscious, I'm probably the happiest I've ever been.'
This series of Love Island is set to be one of the most exciting yet, with host Maya Jama promising plenty of twists.

Revealed: The Love Island cast who should actually couple up, based on their astrology
We've got a text! And omg is it juicy. Tonight's [12 June] episode of Love Island will see the Islanders face their first recoupling of the season, in which the girls will pick who they want to couple up with, leaving two boys single. It comes at a very good time as no one is really in a committed relationship and two new boys entered the Villa last night - Shea and Remell. However, while the cast may think they know what's best for them, who they are destined to be with could actually all be written in the stars. Yep, ahead of tonight's recoupling we spoke with astrologer Inbaal Honigman, on behalf of OLBG, who revealed which Love Island contestants should actually couple up based on their tarot cards. And let's just say the results were interesting... Yep, you read that correctly, while Tommy, 22, may be all loved up with Megan after just a few days, according to Inbaal, American Toni, 24, is actually the better match for him. She pulled The 10 of Cups card for Tommy and a 3 of Cups for Toni, because of this she predicts they would be a good match. She describes Toni as "unapologetic and fully herself, and her taste in love is for someone faithful whose feelings are true," and the card for Tommy translates to meaning he is: "Loving and friendly, this card tells us of an uncomplicated guy who comes from a warm household and wants the same for himself. His ambition is to find love, and it could be absolutely anybody." So why are they a good match? "Those two really want to have an old fashioned love story, with flowers and violins and no drama," she explains. Ok, we're not sure how Megan is going to feel about this. But maybe she doesn't need to worry as according to Inbaal, Megan, 24, is much better suited to Dejon, 26, who is currently coupled up with Meg. Inbaal pulled the card of The 10 of Swords for Dejon, which means it's a "card of overthinking, and shows a person who takes everything to heart. All he wants is to be with someone who understands him, he's personality driven and has a kind heart. He can turn even the slightest situation into a whole drama, and will have his heart broken." As for Megan, well her card the Page of Cups reveals Megan is, "Caring and sensitive. She'll be truthful and will believe everyone, even the least reliable contestants. She believes in true love and will look for someone to reflect that back to her. Tears will come when she finds out that not everyone is as honest as she is." So why are they better suited to each other than their others? Inbaal suggests as they're both "sensitive souls" they would fit well together. She adds that they would, "Both look after each other and be open to listening and talking about their emotions. They'll go out of their ways to ensure that their partner is happy and feeling heard." Meg, 25, shouldn't be too disappointed that Dejon is destined for someone else, as Inbaal suggests her more suited match is in fact new Islander Remell, 24. Inbaal drew the 6 of Cups card for Meg which shows she's "Quick to fall in love and quick to move on". Ooh ouch. She also noted this means Meg, "has no idea what she wants to find, and that will make her search for love search difficult." As for Remell she pulled the Rebirth card, which says he is "a guy who has a guard up. He likes people, but finds relationships complicated. He favours 'nice girl' vibes, but can only date someone who's as complex as he is." Their shared love of drama is what Inbaal argues will bring them together: "They both give as good as they get, and they'll enjoy high-octane drama together. Their relationship may appear challenging to the outsider, but they both love the twists and turns of a passionate romance." The only couple that are actually together on the show right now that Inbaal predicts should be together are Harry and Shakira. Shakira has the King of Pentacles card which means she is "loyal to her own image and business goals, there are no friends, only acquaintances," Inbaal argues. As for Harry he has The Chariot card which means, "He'd love to win a trophy, a girl who's gorgeous, well connected and wealthy. Emotions aren't central to him." Ugh, so why are they a good match? Well for Inbaal they connect on wanting to be a "power couple" and in the future they'd "want to have a life of luxury, and their goals are the same." Given how the teaser for tonight's episode shows a rift between the pair, it seems this could be power couple may be slipping away. Want even more Love Island gossip? Love Island's Ben Holbrough: Everything to know about the taxi driver - age, job, height, Instagram
The Love Island villa is filling up and one of the contestants in this year's line-up is Ben Holbrough, a private taxi driver from Gloucester. Ben was originally in a couple with Shakira Khan, but was stolen by the first bombshell of the season - Toni Laites. However, on Wednesday's episode (11th June), he told Toni right to her face that she's given him the "ick" - yikes. And now he's back to wooing (ish) Shakira, despite saying that Toni picking him "humbled" his previous partner - a comment that didn't sit well with many viewers. So, who exactly is Ben? And what's he looking for on Love Island? As season 12 continues, read on for everything you need to know about him. Job: Private Hire Taxi driver Lives: Gloucester Ben is one of the contestants in this year's Love Island line-up. He's an OG, and was announced as part of the cast on Tuesday 3rd June. Outside of the show, Ben works as a private taxi driver and model. In episode one, he spoke about his line of work, saying he usually does airport runs and takes children to school. Ben is 23-years-old and is one of the younger Islanders in the villa. Shakira and Tommy are currently the youngest at 22. He sure is. You can follow Ben on Instagram at where he currently has 17.8k followers. This number is likely to increase, following his Love Island appearance. On his grid, Ben shares lots of selfies, shirtless snaps and some holiday pictures with his pals. He also shares some modelling photos, having worked with several fashion brands. Ben is 6ft 2in tall. Ben is currently in a couple with American bombshell Toni, however, he told her that she's given him the "ick" and she said it right back to him LOL. It looks like he could be trying to win Shakira back, as he took her to the Hideaway garden to talk. Ahead of the show, Ben expressed his hopes to find "someone sexy" with "good vibes". Asked what type of Islander he'd like to couple up with, he replied: "Someone sexy, good looking, good chat, good vibes, nice teeth and good eye contact - they're all the traits I look for. Oh, and also a cute smile, I just look at you and know I can be around you all day, every day." New episodes of Love Island air on ITV2 at 9pm on weekdays and Sundays.

Love Island's Shea Mannings: His age, Instagram, job and more
The bombshells are officially bombshelling. Last night's Love Island [11 June] saw not one, but two new Islanders enter the Villa, ready to shake things up: introducing Shea Mannings and Remell Mullins. The pair entered the Villa towards the end of the episode and were given some alone time with the girls to quiz them on what was happening with their various connections. The boys then joined the group and they all played a number of cheeky dares. And while it's not 100 per cent clear who Shea is interested in yet, it's safe to say the whole of X [formerly known as Twitter] are either hoping he'll couple up with Alima, or they can keep him for themselves. So when you're over your thirsting for Shea (we understand it could take a while) then this is everything you need to know about the latest Islander. Shea is 25 years old. Shea is from Bristol. Shea's nine to five is working as a scaffolder. As mentioned on the show during 11th June's episode Shea also plays football semi-professionally. According to OK! it appears Shea's most recent team he played for were Swindon Supermarine FC, but he also played for these teams in teh past too: "Bristol Manor Farm, Roman Glass St George, Ashton & Backwell, Larkhall Athletic, Metropolitan Police, Paulton Rovers, and Melksham Town." Yes! Before heading into the Villa, Shea revealed he has a young son from a previous relationship, whom he will take into consideration when looking to date any of the women. "I have a little boy, so I'll be taking him into consideration with who I couple up with, too," he said. When it comes to coupling up Shea kept his cards very close to his chest during his first episode, however, ultimately he's said he's looking for a woman who is "bubbly and we need to have that initial spark. She needs to have a nice personality - like I think I have - so that we match together." He also mentioned as he's reached the age of 25 he's now looking to settle down and have a more serious relationship, "But I am ready again to look for something more serious. I'm 25 now, so I want to be settling down and have someone always by my side." Ok so despite only just stepping into the Love Island Villa, it appears this isn't Shea's first connection with the world of Love Island. Back in June 2022, Love Island's Ella Barnes liked a number of Shea's photos, however Ella hadn't yet at that time been on the show. She also liked one of photo carousels back in July 2023. And in 2021, last year's Uma Jammeh also liked one of Shea's pictures from when he was playing football. However, now neither of the women follower the Islander. If you want to see even more of Shea outside of Love Island then follow him on Instagram at the handle @ where he has just over 6,000 followers and regularly posts from his footie matches and from his holidays with his mates, which includes trips to Ibiza. And he's also on TikTok too. The Islander's handle is @shea_fit and he mainly posts football content and the odd working out advice video. Want even more Love Island gossip?
