Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Cast Of "The Pitt," Including What You've Seen Them In Before

Buzz Feed02-04-2025

We're only a few months into 2025, but it feels safe to say that we've already been gifted the best new show of the year: The Pitt.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill, this new medical drama follows a group of doctors working at a hospital in Pittsburgh. What makes this show special is each episode follows an hour of Dr. Robby's (Noah Wyle) 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in the trauma hospital's emergency room.
So, because everyone — including myself — is absolutely obsessed with The Pitt, here's everything you need to know about this incredible cast:
1. First, Noah Wyle, who stars as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, is obviously best known for his breakout role as Dr. John Carter in NBC's beloved medical drama ER. He starred on the show for 254 episodes, making him the longest-serving cast member in the show's history.
Alongside ER, he's also known for appearing in blockbuster films like Donnie Darko (2001) and A Few Good Men (1992). Noah also starred in The Librarian franchise, as well as the TV show Falling Skies.
2. Tracy Ifeachor, who stars as Dr. Heather Collins, notably starred as Aya in The Originals Season 3, and she appeared in David Tennant's final Doctor Who episodes in 2009, aka the beloved Christmas special "The End of Time." In 2023, she appeared alongside Timothée Chalamet in Wonka.
Tracy also starred as Lydia Bates in Quantico Season 2 and Kuasa in Legend of Tomorrow Season 3. She's also leant her voice to several video games, most recently voicing Kraven's Hunters in Spider-Man 2 in 2023. She's also British IRL.
3. Patrick Ball's first major role is Dr. Frank Langdon on The Pitt. His only other professional acting credit was in an episode of Law & Order in 2023.
In 2022, he graduated from Yale's School of Drama. In real life, his dad is a paramedic, and his mom is an ER nurse.
4. Taylor Dearden, who stars as Dr. Melissa "Mel" King, is best known for starring as Ophelia in the beloved and short-lived TV series Sweet/Vicious. She also starred in American Vandal and For All Mankind.
Taylor is the daughter of Bryan Cranston and even appeared in the Season 3 premiere of Breaking Bad alongside her dad.
5. Katherine LaNasa, who stars as Dana Evans, has appeared in countless TV shows over the course of her career, including Judging Amy, Two and a Half Men, Big Love, Longmire, NYPD Blue, ER, Seinfeld, Dynasty, Imposters, and many more. Most recently, she also starred in Truth Be Told opposite Octavia Spencer.
She's also a trained ballet dancer, having danced with the Milwaukee Ballet as well as Salt Lake City's Ballet West and the Karole Armitage Ballet. She's been married to Melrose Place star Grant Show since 2012.
6. Fiona Dourif, who stars as Dr. Cassie McKay, is best known for portraying Nica Pierce in the Child's Play franchise, starting with Curse of Chucky in 2013 and most recently in the TV series Chucky. Her dad, Brad Dourif, has been voicing Chucky since Child's Play in 1988.
Alongside her work as Nica Pierce, Fiona's also starred in True Blood, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, When We Rise, The Blacklist, and more.
7. Supriya Ganesh, who stars as Dr. Samira Mohan, has appeared in countless TV shows over the years, including Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Med, Billions, New Amsterdam, and Grown-ish.
She also starred in the movie Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game alongside Mike Faist and Crystal Reed.
8. Isa Briones, who stars as Dr. Trinity Santos, has had a big stage career, most notably starring in the first national tour of Hamilton playing Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds. Recently, she starred as Eurydice in Hadestown on Broadway alongside her dad, Jon Jon Briones, who is best known for starring in Miss Saigon.
In terms of film and TV, Isa starred as Soji in Star Trek: Picard from 2020–2022. She also had a main role in Season 1 of Goosebumps.
9. Gerran Howell, who stars as Dr. Dennis Whitaker, is best known for starring as Vladimir Dracula in Young Dracula from 2006 to 2014. He's appeared in shows like Emerald City and Catch-22, too. Gerran also had a role in Sam Mendes' critically acclaimed movie 1917.
He's British in real life.
10. And finally, Shabana Azeez, who stars as Dr. Victoria Javadi, has appeared in several TV shows and movies like Apple Cider Vinegar, Utopia, Birdeater, and more.

Canceled TV shows in 2025

(NewsNation) — 2025 has been a huge year for TV, especially with hit shows like 'Severance' and 'The White Lotus' releasing new series. But some fans have faced bad news as their favorites have been canceled. Shows like 'The Sex Lives of College Girls' and 'S.W.A.T.' had their last seasons recently, as both weren't renewed this year. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said, 'We have to be fiscally responsible,' when talking about shows that have been canceled. Todd Chrisley shares first social media message since Trump pardon 'It's not easy to end shows, and we had a lot of options this year,' Reisenbach said, according to Deadline. 'The schedule is really full, and so we always have to look at all of our shows, look at the aggregate information, the creative of where they are in their life cycle, what the finances look like, what the ratings are, and then we make those tough decisions.' Here are some of the TV shows that have been canceled this year. Despite 'Suits' doing extremely well, its spin-off, 'Suits LA,' has been canceled after only one season, according to multiple sources. The NBC drama 'Found' has also been canceled after two seasons. NBC has also canceled two sitcoms: 'Lopez vs. Lopez' and 'Night Court.' CBS has canceled 'The Equalizer' after five seasons, as well as 'Poppa's House' and 'The Summit.' Amazon Prime also canceled two 'Citadel' spinoffs, after one season of each series. Instead, the storylines of each spinoff will be put into the second season of 'Citadel.' CBS also canceled several popular TV shows, including 'FBI: International' and 'FBI: Most Wanted.' Then, FX canceled 'The Old Man' after two seasons, reportedly due to a delayed production schedule. Other canceled TV shows include: 'Laid' 'The Wheel of Time' 'On Call' 'The Irrational' 'Acapulco' 'Frasier' 'The Cube' 'Wipeout' reboot Brad Pitt hasn't cut off kids, set for more attacks ahead of F1 movie: Exclusive Some shows aren't being canceled but are ending in 2025, including 'The Sandman,' 'The Summer I Turned Pretty,' 'Andor' and 'Harlem.' ‘Smash' to close just over 2 months on Broadway

NEW YORK — 'Smash,' the Broadway show based on the NBC series of the same name, announced on the heels of a disappointing Tony Awards that it will be closing curtains later this month. The stage musical — which traces the roller coaster of making a Broadway hit centered on Marilyn Monroe's starry origin story — will end its brief tenure at the Imperial Theatre on June 22, Variety and Playbill report. News of the pending closure comes just two months after the Tony-nominated production opened on April 10, with a score from Marc Shaiman and Scott Witt. But, much like the Emmy-winning series that inspired it, the show had high aspirations but has hit many a low note. The New York Times reports that the show's weekly grosses peaked at $1 million for the week ending April 20 but ended this past week grossing a measly $656,161. For the latter period, Variety notes that the Imperial was at 66% capacity. Reviewing the stage rendition for the Daily News, Chris Jones recently bemoaned the new 'Smash' for lacking 'quality of surprise.' 'Especially given the level of talent involved here, the adaptation will be deeply disappointing even for die-hard fans of the source material,' which became a cult favorite and even netted six Emmy nominations, winning one for Outstanding Choreography. 'Smash' aired for two seasons on NBC from 2012 to 2013 and starred Debra Messing, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee and Anjelica Huston, as well as real-life Broadway stars Christian Borle and Megan Hilty. Though the Broadway iteration scored two Tony nominations — Best Choreography (Joshua Bergasse) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical (Brooks Ashmanskas) — 'Smash' was snubbed for Best Musical consideration at Sunday's awards show. The show, directed by Susan Stroman, couldn't even perform during the broadcast, despite requesting to do so, per The Times.

A Big Update On ‘The Pitt' Season 2, Which Is Adding These New Actors

The Pitt The Pitt is currently filming as it attempts to start HBO Max's desire to pump out one season per year like the good old days of broadcast TV. It's a very contained location, almost procedural with all its various crises, and it seems like they'll be able to pull it off. Well, if The Pitt season 2 will be out close to a year after season 1, we can search for other new information about what's coming during season 2, and now we've found some. It's been confirmed that four actors are joining the cast: one patient and three medical personnel. From Deadline, we have the actors in question and who they will be playing: Charles Baker - Troy, an unhoused man forgotten by most, and a patient in the ED. If you're concerned that this young crop of newbies may replace the old crop of newbies who are off the ER rotation, that's not true, as it's been confirmed the likes of King, Santos, Whitaker and Javadi are all returning. The same is true for Dr. Langdon, seemingly booted out by Robby, but he is a fixture of season 2 as it will take place during his full first day back in the ER, presumably after some sort of rehab/testing stint. There's really no confirmation about who will not return at this point, which also includes Dana Evans, who seemingly left the ER at the end of the season. The Pitt is about to become a major contender in the Emmys now that nominations are submitted, and many would consider Robby's Noah Wyle to be a frontrunner for Best Actor in a Drama. Clearly, there are a lot of potential nominations in the supporting cast, along with the big category, Best Drama, itself. It's not a big surprise that the show is adding new cast members. Well, it was always going to in terms of a slew of new patients, but on the medical side as well. I do wonder, however, how many new actors could be jammed in without any others being removed, lest the show begin to feel overstuffed. But it's just season 2, and we can see how they handle it soon enough. Within the year, it seems. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
