PSG Yet to Submit Offer for Real Madrid Target Facing Uncertain Liverpool Future

Yahoo21-05-2025

PSG are keeping close tabs on Ibrahima Konaté, but they're not the only ones showing interest—Real Madrid are also reportedly in the mix for the Liverpool center-back. With his contract running until 2026, Konaté is starting to attract more attention as the summer transfer window nears.
Milan Skriniar, currently on loan at Fenerbahçe, is expected to leave PSG permanently at the end of the season. That's led the club to begin weighing options for defensive reinforcements. While nothing is close yet, it's clear PSG are planning for life without Skriniar.

Their interest in Konaté isn't new. Back in February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG had been monitoring him closely, sparking talk of a potential return to his hometown. The Paris-born defender came up through Paris FC's academy before making a name for himself at RB Leipzig, and he's now believed to be among PSG's top targets this summer.
PSG monitoring Real Madrid target's situation at LiverpoolL'Équipe reports that PSG are keeping an eye on Konaté as they search for a right-sided center back. The Liverpool defender's name had surfaced frequently a few months ago, but so far, no offer has been submitted to the Premier League club.
On Monday, TBR Football's chief correspondent Graeme Bailey shared more details on Konaté's situation, noting that Liverpool could be under pressure to sell the French defender rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.

'We really can't underestimate just how worried Liverpool are by Konaté's situation,' Bailey said. 'It's a situation that they did inherit to be fair, but it's also one that they could have maybe got in front of last summer.
'If we're playing sort of devil's advocate with this, would Konaté have turned down a big contract offer last summer? Unfortunately he didn't really get one last summer. And then let's be fair to the player — he's backed himself to have that big season and he's had that.
'He really has stepped up from being a good Premier League player to being a very very good one. Liverpool are in a massive quandary with him now, I'm told if a new deal is looking unlikely in the coming weeks then do not rule out the prospect of Liverpool selling Konaté this summer.
'Liverpool don't want to be dragged into a difficult situation and obviously there is the prospect that Konaté might not accept a summer move Then if that is the case we wonder whether we're in a similar sort of cycle to Trent and Real Madrid. It's all about player power and Konaté's got it and Liverpool are very worried about this situation.'

Real Madrid Will Present A New Signing To Fans

Real Madrid will present a new player to the club and its fans early on Tuesday afternoon in Spain, as the 15-time Champions League winner confirmed through an official statement. 'Real Madrid C. F. announces that today, at 12:30 p.m., the presentation of our player Dean Huijsen will take place at Real Madrid City,' the correspondence began. 'The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, will receive Huijsen for the signing ceremony that links our new player with the club for the next five seasons. After the presentation, Huijsen will speak to the media in the press room at Real Madrid City,' it added. Huijsen became Madrid's first signing of the summer transfer window after Madrid triggered his £50 million release clause at Bournemouth on the weekend that a trophyless 2024/2025 campaign in terms of major silverware drew to a close. Rejected by Juventus, which allowed him to make just one senior appearance in Italy, he found his feet in England and attracted a number of top European clubs with his performances in a sole Premier League season. Madrid saw enough to pay big money for the 20-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands but moved to Spain as a youngster which has allowed him to become a regular in La Roja's national team currently keeping FC Barcelona Pau Cubarsi out of Luis de la Fuente's first XI. As of yet, there's still no word on when Trent Alexander-Arnold will be presented amid completing what was a free transfer in theory from Liverpool. The right back's contract at Anfield was expected to expire on June 30, but Perez paid a reported €10 million for the right back to switch allegiances earlier than planned and take part in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup which kicks off in a few days. Because of this, 'TAA' might be unveiled following the US-held tournament and could be joined by Franco Mastantuono. As reported by various outlets, Real Madrid is closing in on Mastantuono after sending a delegation to Buenos Aires last week. In the Argentine capital, Madrid struck an agreement with the teenage prodigy and his current employers River Plate, but he's not expected to complete a transfer made possible by meeting his €45 million release clause until the Club World Cup has wrapped up.

Sky Sports: Tottenham Hotspur have Joined the Race to Sign 24-year-old Premier League Star

Tottenham Hotspur Turn Up the Heat in Race for Semenyo Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as reported by Sky Sports News, with the North London club seeking to bolster their attacking options ahead of a pivotal new era under expected incoming manager Thomas Frank. Advertisement According to Sky, 'Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Antoine Semenyo' with the Bournemouth star now firmly on Spurs' radar. The 24-year-old Ghana international, who impressed in the Premier League last season with his pace, power and direct style, fits the mould of the energetic, forward-thinking football Spurs are expected to play under Frank. Photo IMAGO Spurs Seek Firepower Amidst Rebuild Following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are clearly not standing still. Their pursuit of Semenyo signals ambition and a desire to reshape the attack. With the future of Richarlison uncertain and Heung-Min Son not getting any younger, investing in a dynamic, goal-hungry talent like Semenyo makes long-term sense. Advertisement Crucially, Spurs are not alone in admiring the Bournemouth striker. Sky Sports confirmed, 'Manchester United also remain admirers of the Bournemouth forward', despite their primary focus being elsewhere. The Red Devils had a £55 million bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo rejected, and they are 'expected to follow-up with another offer'. Mbeumo Chase Gives Spurs Opening This transfer window has turned into a game of dominoes. Manchester United's aggressive pursuit of Mbeumo, who is also 'on the list at Spurs' according to Sky, has seemingly opened the door for Tottenham to act swiftly on Semenyo. United appear to be focused on Mbeumo for now, while Spurs may see a chance to move ahead in the queue for Semenyo without immediate pressure from their rivals. Given the growing price tag Brentford have attached to Mbeumo, Spurs' interest may be shifting toward a more attainable, and arguably better value, option. Photo: IMAGO Semenyo's Rise and Appeal Semenyo's stock has quietly risen in the last 12 months. A key figure in Andoni Iraola's attacking setup, he has developed into a versatile forward who can lead the line or play from wide areas. His ability to stretch defences and his powerful ball-carrying ability make him an ideal fit for high-tempo pressing football. Advertisement With Frank's appointment all but confirmed, his knowledge of Semenyo and the Premier League market could be a key factor in accelerating this deal. The incoming manager knows what it takes to succeed in England's top tier, and Semenyo might be one of his first major signings. As clubs like Manchester United continue to dominate headlines with expensive pursuits, Tottenham's more astute and calculated approach might just give them the upper hand in a race that could define their season. Our View – EPL Index Analysis From a Tottenham Hotspur fan's perspective, this news is massive. Antoine Semenyo is exactly the kind of player we've been crying out for — raw pace, physical presence and a real direct threat in the final third. After watching us play sideways football for most of last season, the thought of someone who actually runs at defenders is mouth-watering. Advertisement Also, the timing is perfect. With Thomas Frank expected to come in, you can already feel the direction the club wants to go. High-energy, flexible forwards are his bread and butter. If Semenyo is one of his first signings, it shows we're backing the new manager early — which we didn't really do with Ange, let's be honest. What I love most is that we're going toe-to-toe with United and might actually win. While they're busy throwing £55 million bids for Mbeumo, we could quietly wrap up a deal for Semenyo, who arguably fits our style better and is less of a risk. Let's not forget, Bournemouth gave us a tough time this season, and Semenyo was a big part of that. If you can't beat them, sign them. This move would be smart, shrewd and very Spursy — in the right way.

Cody Gakpo comes clean on Bayern Munich offer

Liverpool have got ambitions to restructure their squad this summer - starting with Florian Wirtz. The 22-year-old Germany playmaker is a No10 by trade but can also occupy a left-sided attacking midfield position. His potential arrival could have an impact on several current Liverpool stars. Dominik Szoboszlai, for one, might consider his place under threat with Wirtz a rival for a central attacking position. Advertisement But Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo might also be looking over their shoulders. If Arne Slot opts to keep Szoboszlai where he currently plays - in order to get through his fair share of off-the-ball work - then Wirtz could end up being fielded from the left. And if the club are going to spend £126m on a new attacker, the expectation is that he will be a nailed-on starter. Where that leaves Diaz and Gakpo right now is anyone's guess. Gakpo a target for Bayern Diaz, 28, has been extensively linked with both Barcelona and Al-Nassr - with Liverpool seemingly willing to cash in if the right bid materialises. Advertisement Gakpo has also been associated with a move away and Bayern Munich are known to be keen amid uncertainty for attackers like Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman. Under contract until 2028, the 26-year-old is reported to be seeking a new deal from the Reds. However, if an attractive bid is made for the Dutchman then sporting director Richard Hughes could opt to take it under consideration. © IMAGO - Cody Gakpo Liverpool 2024-25 'Maybe my agents have heard', admits Gakpo The question of Gakpo's future was put to him recently on international duty - when the attacker featured in the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Finland. Does he see himself sticking with Liverpool? 'The way it looks now, definitely,' he said. ' I am in my place and I am happy. We have had a good season and as a team, as a club we are looking for more.' Advertisement He was then quizzed on Bayern's reported interest, stating that he is leaving all talks in the hands of his representatives. "I haven't heard anything about it myself. I've moved on from that,' he said. "Maybe my agents have heard something about it, but I haven't heard anything yet. As I just said, I'm focused on how things are now." Gakpo has been at Anfield since January 2023 and excelled for Arne Slot last season when placed in his correct position. He scored 18 goals and added seven assists in 49 appearances overall.
