PSG Yet to Submit Offer for Real Madrid Target Facing Uncertain Liverpool Future

Yahoo21-05-2025

PSG are keeping close tabs on Ibrahima Konaté, but they're not the only ones showing interest—Real Madrid are also reportedly in the mix for the Liverpool center-back. With his contract running until 2026, Konaté is starting to attract more attention as the summer transfer window nears.
Milan Skriniar, currently on loan at Fenerbahçe, is expected to leave PSG permanently at the end of the season. That's led the club to begin weighing options for defensive reinforcements. While nothing is close yet, it's clear PSG are planning for life without Skriniar.

Their interest in Konaté isn't new. Back in February, Anfield Watch reported that PSG had been monitoring him closely, sparking talk of a potential return to his hometown. The Paris-born defender came up through Paris FC's academy before making a name for himself at RB Leipzig, and he's now believed to be among PSG's top targets this summer.
PSG monitoring Real Madrid target's situation at LiverpoolL'Équipe reports that PSG are keeping an eye on Konaté as they search for a right-sided center back. The Liverpool defender's name had surfaced frequently a few months ago, but so far, no offer has been submitted to the Premier League club.
On Monday, TBR Football's chief correspondent Graeme Bailey shared more details on Konaté's situation, noting that Liverpool could be under pressure to sell the French defender rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.

'We really can't underestimate just how worried Liverpool are by Konaté's situation,' Bailey said. 'It's a situation that they did inherit to be fair, but it's also one that they could have maybe got in front of last summer.
'If we're playing sort of devil's advocate with this, would Konaté have turned down a big contract offer last summer? Unfortunately he didn't really get one last summer. And then let's be fair to the player — he's backed himself to have that big season and he's had that.
'He really has stepped up from being a good Premier League player to being a very very good one. Liverpool are in a massive quandary with him now, I'm told if a new deal is looking unlikely in the coming weeks then do not rule out the prospect of Liverpool selling Konaté this summer.
'Liverpool don't want to be dragged into a difficult situation and obviously there is the prospect that Konaté might not accept a summer move Then if that is the case we wonder whether we're in a similar sort of cycle to Trent and Real Madrid. It's all about player power and Konaté's got it and Liverpool are very worried about this situation.'

Barcelona identify two left-back transfer targets

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked a pair of leading options, in their search for potential left-back reinforcements with a view to next season. That's according to Diario Sport, who point towards Alejandro Grimaldo and Caio Henrique as the players in question. Advertisement The situation at left-back in Hansi Flick's Barcelona squad has of course emerged as a major talking point in the media over recent days. This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that Gerard Martín has made his way onto the transfer radar of Premier League sides Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers. And though the Camp Nou brass are not actively seeking a sale, they will not stand in the way of the Spaniard, should he opt for an exit. With as much in mind, Deco has kicked into gear a search for fresh blood at left-back with a view to next season. And according to Sport, the names of two players have been circled in red by the Blaugrana: Bayer Leverkusen star Alejandro Grimaldo, and Caio Henrique of AS Monaco: Advertisement 'Barça value the signing of Grimaldo as an immediate performance addition and a profile that can offer different things in attack. Another option that Deco is considering is Monaco full-back Caio Henrique.' The latter, it is understood, would set Barcelona back an affordable sum in the region of €15 million. Conor Laird – GSFN

Man United completes signing of Brazil forward Matheus Cunha

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United completed the signing of Brazil international Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday. The 26-year-old forward signed a five-year contract to 2030, with the option of a further 12 months. 'Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt,' Cunha said. United paid a reported 62.5 million pounds ($84 million) for Cunha, who is expected to be one of several signings for the fallen Premier League giant as coach Ruben Amorim looks to overhaul his squad following a woeful season. Cunha scored 17 goals for Wolves last season. The United attack had the fifth worst scoring record in the English top flight last term. 'All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top,' he said. United was 15th in the standings, its worst position since the Premier League era began in 1992. It also had its most losses in a Premier League season and recorded its lowest points total. The joint record 20-time English champion has gone 12 years without the title since last winning it in former manager Alex Ferguson's final season in 2013. 'Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window," said Jason Wilcox, United director of football. "He has proved his ability to succeed in the Premier League as one of the most exciting and productive forwards in England during his time at Wolves, and before that in Spain and Germany. 'He has all the qualities we are looking for as we seek to build a strong, dynamic and entertaining team capable of challenging for the biggest honors.'
