Cat Paradise Hotel Launches Cat Sitting Service Amid Rescue Milestone
SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 24 June 2025 - Cat Paradise Singapore has launched a new cat sitting service, now available to the general public. This service provides in-home care by trained professional cat sitters in Singapore , expanding the centre's support for cat owners who require assistance while away from home. This development is part of Cat Paradise's ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive feline care. The centre has also recently reached a milestone, with over 150 rescued cats adopted through its cageless adoption centre. The adoption model allows cats and potential adopters to interact in a homely, cage-free environment, helping reduce mismatches and returned adoptions. Many of the cats available for adoption are surrenders, already socialised and litter trained, while others are stray rescues that have undergone medical screening and socialisation before entering the centre. The centre's adoption process is thorough: visitors are guided through responsible pet ownership, screened for home readiness (such as meshing windows), and required to sign adoption contracts. This structured approach ensures each cat enters a stable, caring environment. Adoption donations go towards covering medical and upkeep costs, allowing the team to continue their rescue efforts. The process of integrating rescued cats into the café takes weeks to months, often requiring staff to rehabilitate cats from neglect or abuse before they are ready for adoption. In addition to adoption services, Cat Paradise offers cat boarding services in Singapore . Some adopted cats return to board at the facility, reflecting continued relationships between adopters and the centre. To support future rescue efforts, the company has partnered with online pet retailer ExpressPetSupplies.sg, which donates a portion of proceeds to assist in funding care for more cats. Despite the challenges of rescue work, the team remains dedicated to giving each cat the time and space it needs to heal, socialise, and eventually find a loving, permanent home. The new cat sitting service complements existing offerings by supporting cat owners who prefer their pets remain at home during their absence. It aligns with the centre's approach to providing consistent, long-term support for feline welfare.Cat Paradise is a cageless adoption centre and boarding facility in Singapore dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of cats. The centre offers a home-like setting where visitors can interact with adoptable cats. In addition to adoption and boarding services, Cat Paradise has expanded to include professional cat sitting. To learn more about Cat Paradise Hotel's boarding or newly launched cat sitting service, please visit https://catparadisehotel.sg/ Hashtag: #CatParadiseSingapore

Gobind announces MyGOV Malaysia app to launch in July, streamlining access to govt services
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo today announced that the MyGOV Malaysia mobile application will be launched in July 2025. Gobind said the MyGOV Malaysia app is part of the nation's Government Technology (GovTech) initiative, aimed at providing Malaysians with easy access to various government agencies through a single gateway. 'This is part of the government's plan to transform Malaysia into a digital nation,' he said in a statement. 'It is only right to ensure we have a single platform where Malaysians can deal with various government agencies seamlessly.' The MyGOV Malaysia mobile application will initially focus on seven main services: travel (passport-related matters), registration (birth and citizenship), driving (road tax and driving licenses), healthcare (appointments and medical records), summons, housing (land tax/assessment rates), and the Rahmah Cash Aid (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah). More features are expected to be added in the future. Gobind said MyGOV Malaysia will be integrated with MyDigital ID to streamline access to government services via a single, secure platform. 'Users will be able to verify their identity and access multiple services directly through the mobile application using their MyDigital ID credentials. 'This unified approach not only simplifies user interaction with government platforms but also underpins the broader commitment to digital inclusivity, trust, and service excellence by the Ministry of Digital,' he said. The app will allow Malaysians to access multiple services directly on their mobile devices. 'This is part of our journey in transforming Malaysia into a digital nation, a journey that will benefit Malaysians and ensure no one is left behind in a trusted digital environment,' he added. As of June 23, Gobind said 2,604,160 MyDigital ID registrations had been recorded. He added that the single sign-on integration will initially cover 34 main government system applications, with more services to be included soon. Gobind also highlighted that the development of MyGOV Malaysia involves collaborations with the private sector, including telecommunications companies and banking institutions. The end goal, he said, is to provide users with easier, safer access to services while benefiting the government by optimising operational costs at Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) nationwide and improving productivity through better data-driven decision-making.

Malaysia's inflation eases to 1.2pc in May 2025, lowest in 51 months, says DOSM
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Malaysia registered an inflation rate of 1.2 per cent in May 2025, the lowest in 51 months, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) at 134.4 versus 132.8 a year ago, according to the Statistics Department Malaysia (DOSM). In a statement today, it said Malaysia's slower inflation trend as an open economy was in line with selected countries and region, namely Eurozone (1.9 per cent), South Korea (1.9 per cent), Indonesia (1.6 per cent) and the Philippines (1.3 per cent), in tandem with the decline in global oil prices. 'The decline was also reflected in the Producer Price Index, which registered a -3.4 per cent in April 2025,' it said. The mining sector was the main contributor with a -17.8 per cent (March 2025: -15.0 per cent) due to a fall in crude petroleum extraction of -19.8 per cent, it said. The food and beverages group, which contributes 29.8 per cent to the CPI, rose more slowly at 2.1 per cent in May 2025 versus the 2.3 per cent in April 2025. 'The subgroup of food-at-home did not record any changes in May 2025 versus April 2025, which increased 0.5 per cent,' it said. However, the food-away-from-home subgroup was up 4.4 per cent versus 4.3 per cent in the preceding month. Moreover, DOSM said a few groups recorded a higher increase compared to April 2025; restaurant and accommodation services, 3.0 per cent (April 2025: 2.9 per cent), health, 1.1 per cent (April 2025: 0.9 per cent) and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, 0.2 per cent (April 2025: 0.1 per cent). The information and communication and the clothing and footwear groups remained in negative territory, registering -5.2 per cent and - 0.2 per cent, respectively. Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said 342 out of 573 of the items, or 59.7 per cent, recorded price increases. Of the 342 items, 330 items (96.5 per cent) registered an increase of less than or equal to 10 per cent, while 12 items recorded increases of more than 10 per cent in May 2025. 'However, 180 items (31.4 per cent) showed a decline and 51 items remained unchanged, which, to a certain extent, offsets the inflation from increasing further,' he said. In line with global oil market price changes, diesel in May 2025 recorded a slower 12.4 per cent price increase compared with the 15 per cent in April 2025. The average price for diesel in Peninsular Malaysia was RM2.81 per litre against RM2.15 in May 2024 (April 2025: RM2.95), while the average price of diesel for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan remained at RM2.15 per litre. Meanwhile, unleaded petrol RON97 remained at a negative range of 10.4 per cent versus -6.3 in April 2025. The average price of unleaded petrol RON97 in May 2025 was RM3.11 a litre against RM3.47 in May 2024 (April 2025: RM3.25). Mohd Uzir said 11 states recorded increases below the national inflation rate of 1.2 per cent, with Kelantan recording the lowest rise at 0.3 per cent in May 2025. Five states recorded increases above the national inflation level, namely Johor (1.8 per cent), Negeri Sembilan (1.6 per cent), Selangor (1.5 per cent), Melaka (1.5 per cent) and Kuala Lumpur (1.4 per cent).

Probe, prosecution of businessman not in vain, MACC officer tells court
Businessman G Gnanaraja was fined RM230,000 after pleading guilty to an alternative charge of using company funds to enrich himself under Section 218(1) of the Companies Act in 2020. KUALA LUMPUR : An investigating officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) told the sessions court in Lim Guan Eng's corruption trial here that their efforts to probe and charge businessman G Gnanaraja had not 'gone to waste'. Eng Heng Jun acknowledged that Gnanaraja was initially charged with cheating key witness Zarul Ahmad Zulkifli in Lim's undersea tunnel project case, but that those charges were later withdrawn. Gnanaraja was fined RM230,000 after pleading guilty to an alternative charge of using company funds to enrich himself under Section 218(1) of the Companies Act in 2020. Eng told the court that the RM230,000 was paid to the government's coffers. 'I disagree with counsel's suggestion that Section 218(1) was a 'minor' charge (as opposed to the cheating charges which carried a custodial sentence),' he said during cross-examination by defence lawyer Haijan Omar. Haijan had questioned the prosecution's move to offer Gnanaraja an alternative charge. Eng said the Section 218(1) charge was offered to Gnanaraja after Zarul in 2019 amended his witness statement, telling authorities that he had made 'mistakes' regarding the source of funds allegedly used to pay Gnanaraja. He added that the amendments to the witness statement meant 'it was insufficient to proceed with the cheating charges'. Tiara Katrina Fuad, who also represented Lim, then questioned the investigating officer on whether he doubted Zarul's credibility as a witness. 'So, do you think he was not a credible witness because he changed his stand?' she asked. Eng disagreed with the lawyer, saying the instructions to offer the Section 218(1)(a) charge came from the deputy public prosecutor. The hearing continues before judge Azura Alwi on June 25. Lim is charged with using his position as then Penang chief minister to ask Zarul for a 10% cut of the profits from the undersea tunnel project and accepting RM3.3 million in kickbacks from the businessman. He is also accused of two counts of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land.
