Otego to get $3.9 million for water projects
The village of Otego is among municipalities getting state funding for water projects.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Thursday, May 22 that the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors approved more than $37 million in financial assistance for water infrastructure improvement projects across the state.
"The board's approval authorizes municipal access to low-cost financing and previously announced grants to get shovels in the ground for critical water and sewer infrastructure projects, from treatment processes to remove emerging contaminants from drinking water, to replacing lead service lines and modernizing aging systems," a news release from Hochul's office said.
'This is how you lead: invest boldly, move fast and protect your people,' Hochul said. 'This $37 million investment jumpstarts critical projects to fix aging pipes, tackle emerging contaminants and upgrade infrastructure, all while keeping costs down for communities and creating good-paying local jobs.'
Otego will get $3.9 million in grants for the installation of a redundant production well, replacement of asbestos-lined pipe and exposed water main, relocation of a well house treatment building to a higher elevation, replacement of a booster pump station, and the installation of a tank mixer, according to the release.
EFC's board approved grants and financing to local governments from the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds — a mix of federal and state dollars dedicated to financing community water infrastructure projects. State Revolving Fund interest rates are below market rate, and with long repayment periods, and communities may save significantly on debt service compared to traditional financing, the release stated.
State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said, 'This latest round of funding means critical infrastructure projects will be affordable to municipalities looking to protect their communities without breaking the bank. Through our Bureau of Water Supply Protection, the Department of Health will continue to work with our state and local partners to protect the health and safety of New Yorkers by providing technical assistance and monitoring for emerging contaminants, lead and other chemicals.'

How AI is Revolutionizing SAP Architecture in Modern Manufacturing
In the quickly advancing scene of advanced fabricating, counterfeit insights (AI) is no longer a cutting edge concept but a present-day reality changing businesses around the world. One of the most critical recipients of this mechanical insurgency is SAP engineering, where AI integration is reclassifying how fabricating endeavors work, enhance, and compete on a worldwide scale. This article investigates how AI is revolutionizing SAP design in cutting edge fabricating, driving SAP-driven fabricating development and clearing the way for brilliantly, proficient, and responsive generation frameworks. SAP (Frameworks, Applications, and Items) has long been the spine of endeavor asset arranging (ERP) frameworks over businesses, counting fabricating. It gives comprehensive arrangements for overseeing supply chains, generation forms, stock, and financials. In any case, the conventional SAP frameworks, whereas vigorous, frequently confront challenges in dealing with the expanding complexity and real-time requests of today's fabricating environments. Enter AI — a game-changer that improves SAP engineering by presenting capabilities such as machine learning, prescient analytics, characteristic dialect preparing, and robotization. AI engages SAP frameworks to go past inactive information preparing for energetic decision-making, empowering producers to optimize operations with phenomenal exactness. In addition, AI improves request determination by processingOne of the center focal points of coordination AI into SAP design is the noteworthy boost in generation proficiency. AI calculations analyze tremendous sums of information produced by fabricating hardware, supply chains, and client requests to recognize designs and peculiarities that human administrators might miss. For case, AI-powered prescient upkeep inside SAP frameworks makes a difference expect gear disappointments some time recently they happen, minimizing downtime and upkeep costs. By estimating when machines require overhauling, producers can plan support proactively, hence dodging exorbitant interruptions. chronicled deals information, advertisement patterns, and outside components like financial markers or regular vacillations. This empowers producers to adjust generation plans with genuine showcase needs, lessening overproduction and stock holding costs. AI moreover optimizes asset allotment by analyzing vitality utilization designs, crude fabric utilization, and workforce efficiency. Through cleverly planning, SAP frameworks guarantee that assets are utilized productively, diminishing squander and operational costs. The concept of Industry 4.0 centers around smart factories where interconnected systems communicate and make decisions independently. AI-powered SAP architecture is crucial to realizing this vision. Intelligent manufacturing systems rely on real-time data integration and AI analytics embedded within SAP platforms to coordinate complex processes seamlessly. A key advantage is AI-driven supply chain optimization, which allows SAP systems to dynamically adjust logistics, forecast disruptions, and ensure timely delivery of components and finished goods. This visibility enables manufacturers to respond rapidly to supply issues such as vendor delays or transportation breakdowns, thus maintaining consistent production flows and customer satisfaction. How To Make an Extra $6K a Month (It's as Easy as Riding a Bike)
If you live in New York, you've probably heard of Citi Bikes. It's an immensely popular bike-sharing program by Lyft that operates throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Hoboken and Jersey City. Read More: Find Out: The official website claims it's 'the best way to get around.' Considering there are plans to expand to 36,000 bikes and more than 2,000 Citi Bike stations in 2025, this might not be that far off base. Citi Bikes is more than the area's 'official bike share program.' It's also touted as a fun — and affordable — alternative to taxis, walking, and the whole public transit system. It's accessible, convenient and, for some people, a great way to earn additional income every month. Citi Bikes might not have been intended as a side hustle, but it's certainly become that way for the dedicated few who know how to game the system. The New York Times even called it 'the perfect New York hustle, a scam of subtle perfection. The way it works is simple: Borrow a Citi Bike. Ride it a block — just one. Wait about 15 minutes. Ride it back to where you started. As for earning money, that part's a little more complicated. Citi Bike's goal is to offer seamless pickup and drop-off of its bikes — but things don't always go as planned. Sometimes, someone going to work doesn't have a place to leave their bike when they arrive. Others can't find a bike when they need one during their lunch break or have errands to run with no time to waste. Read Next: However, the program costs roughly $220 a year, and subscribers are none too happy with paying that much only to find no available bikes. That's why Citi Bike started introducing various tactics and incentives to get bikes where they're most needed. One such program, introduced in 2016, is Bike Angels. This program essentially allows Citi Biker subscribers to move bikes themselves in exchange for points. After earning enough points, they can redeem them for a variety of things — from swag to membership discounts to gift cards. Some New Yorkers — later dubbed Power Angels — got so into this that they started competing with one another to win the most points. Here are just a few ways to earn points: 4 points for taking a bike from a full station 4 points for docking a bike at an empty station 3x points for moving 4+ bikes within 24 hours Each ride can earn as many as 24 points, which translates to a maximum of $4.80 per ride (with the 3x points). Cutting ahead a few years, these 'Power Angels' discovered how to game the system, analyzing the algorithm to see where they could earn the most and maximize those financial benefits. By working together, they found a way to exploit the system — called 'station flipping' — and make some pretty good money. Here's just one account of how, back in August 2024, seven Bike Angels made money riding bikes: Each one used a special blue key (awarded by Citi Bike) to unlock a bike at a docking station. They then rode it one block, docked it, ran back to their starting point to unlock another bike, and repeated the cycle. Knowing Lyft's algorithm resets every 15 minutes (meaning new point values get awarded for each bike move), the Angels created a system in which one station would be totally full while the other (just one block away) would be empty. Viewing the empty docks as being in high-demand, the algorithm offered $4.80 per bike returned to the empty station. The riders then changed direction (each riding their bikes from the full station to the empty one), earning the maximum incentive per ride. As far as side hustles go, it's inventive, but not without its challenges. That said, one particular Bike Angel, known as Tommy, was said to have earned around $60,000 in 2023 by flipping bikes. In the early part of September, another Angel (username: NS143) earned roughly $3,800 or 19,394 points. Most don't earn nearly that much, perhaps enough to pay some bills, and taxes still have to be paid. But all in all? For those who are dedicated and willing to put in the work, it's not a bad hustle. Queens mom beaten brutally beaten on Randalls Island improving but still critical: family
The Queens single mother of two prosecutors say was brutally beaten on Randalls Island by an ex-con out on parole is improving but remains unconscious and in critical condition, her family said Friday. 'She's a little bit better,' 44-year-old victim Diana Agudelo's daughter Stephanie Rodas said. ''The doctor just told me to take it day by day. They don't really tell me anything long term.' Doctors have begun weaning Agudelo off medications meant to reduce the swelling in her brain to see if it will go down on its own, Rodas said. 'She had a drain on her head that would drain out the excess blood that would come out. They took out one of the drains,' Rodas added. Agudelo was biking home from her job as a janitor at an East Harlem museum on May 16, taking her usual short cut through Randalls Island to get to her Astoria apartment, when 30-year-old parolee and registered sex offender Miguel Jiraud viciously attacked her, repeatedly beating her in the head before taking off with her e-bike, according to prosecutors. The victim lay unconscious in a grassy area near the 103rd St. footbridge for nearly six hours until Jiraud, posing as a good Samaritan called police at about 5:15 a.m. the next morning, alerting them he discovered the wounded woman, prosecutors said. Rodas, and her 22-year-old brother have been at their mother's bedside at Elmhurst Hospital ever since, holding on to hope that she will improve. Last week doctors told the family that Agudelo had a '99% chance mortality rate with her injuries.' Even if all goes well, doctors said she will lose all or most of her ability to move the right side of her body and will be blind in the top of her right eye. She will also have memory issues, the extent of which is not clear. Rodas said Friday that her mother is beginning to look more like herself again. Initially, Agudelo was 'so swollen' that Rodas could hardly recognize her. 'She's looking better. Her [external] swelling has been going down,' Rodas said. 'It feels good to see. It's mostly external. Internal [swelling] we don't really know.' Agudelo's co-workers at the Museum of the City of New York have created a GoFundMe that has quickly raised more than $75,000 for her continued medical care. When asked Friday what she'd tell New Yorkers, Rodas said, 'Just to continue thinking of my mom and to thank them for all the prayers that they have sent my mother's way.'
