24-year-old Indian woman goes missing in New Jersey after arriving for arranged marriage – Here's what we know
A mysterious case has came to light in New Jersey, the United States, where a 24-year-old Indian woman has gone missing days after arriving for an arranged marriage, reported New York Post.
The lady, identified as Simran Simran, arrived in the US from India on June 20.
Surveillance footage showed the woman looking at her phone and seemingly waiting for someone, said the report.
New Jersey Police said she didn't appear to be in distress in the video.
The police stated that they were told that Simran had came in the US for the arranged marriage, but it was also possible she had no intention to marry, and merely wanted a free trip to the America.
According to the US authorities, Simran has no relatives living in the States and speaks no English.
Her international phone only works via Wi-Fi.
The woman was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip flops, and small diamond-studded earrings.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a 23-year-old Indian woman was brutally attacked and robbed near her home in Winnipeg, the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba, and a teenager has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
The woman, identified by community members as Tanpreet Kaur, was walking back to her apartment in Winnipeg after finishing her evening shift late when she was ambushed by two strangers at the 1-99 block of Roslyn Road shortly after midnight on June 23.
Winnipeg police said in a statement on Wednesday that bystanders in the area stopped the attack after which suspects quickly fled after stabbing and robbing the victim of her property.
'The victim was stabbed and robbed of her cell phone. During the assault, she was able to disarm the suspect and held onto the knife, while they continued to assault her. Bystanders intervened and called 911 and the suspects ran off,' the police said, adding the woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

RAMANATHAPURAM: Eight Indian fishermen hailing from Rameswaram were arrested by the Sri Lankan navy in the wee hours of Sunday for allegedly crossing the IMBL, marking the first arrest of fishermen by the island nation since the annual fishing ban was lifted on June 14. Fishermen associations in Rameswaram condemned the arrest and urged the centre to secure their release.

An Indian Aviation Minister on Sunday (June 29, 2025) said investigators were probing 'all angles' behind the Air India plane crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad when asked by media about possible sabotage. All but one of the 242 people on board the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner were killed when it crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. Authorities have identified 19 others who died on the ground, but a police source told AFP after the crash that the toll was 38. The team appointed to investigate the crash started extracting data from the plane's cockpit voice and flight data recorders this week, in an attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the disaster. Air India has said that the plane was "well-maintained" and that the pilots were accomplished flyers.

‘Have asked parents to take back abandoned baby: Police
PANVEL: Within 24 hours of a two-day old baby girl being found abandoned at Takka in Panvel on Saturday morning, police have traced her parents to Bhiwandi. Both the mother and father are from well-to-do families and they abandoned the baby as their family members did not know about their marriage last year, police said. The couple has been asked to take back the child, presently under the Child Welfare Committee's (CWC) custody, police officers familiar with the case told Hindustan Times.
