Heat-seeking camera used by Michigan State Police to find missing 2-year-old
A 2-year-old toddler is safe after a helicopter equipped with a heat-seeking camera located them following their disappearance on Saturday, according to Michigan State Police.
The state law enforcement agency was asked on Saturday to help Blackman Township police find the toddler, who was wearing only a diaper when they went missing.
Police said in a
post on X
that the toddler had been missing for over an hour when the request for help was received.
Using a heat-seeking camera, a helicopter crew operating Trooper 2 found the toddler in a ditch near Interstate 94 and Airport Road around 15 minutes after arriving at the scene.
Officials say the toddler was conscious and alert, and didn't appear to be injured when found. They were still taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Man dies after being ejected from SUV in Detroit rollover crash
A man is dead after being ejected from the SUV he was driving during a rollover crash on Lodge Freeway in Detroit early Saturday, according to Michigan State Police. The Detroit Regional Communication Center received calls about the crash on the freeway near the exit to Chicago Boulevard at 2:15 a.m. Witnesses told officials the SUV was on fire and blocking the roadway. Investigators say the man, 25, was driving northbound on the freeway when the SUV went up an embankment, struck a tree and rolled back onto the freeway. Livonia police officer shoots armed man who was "behaving erratically"
Police in Livonia, Michigan, say an officer shot a man who they say was acting erratically and pointed a gun at the officer Friday afternoon. Authorities received a call at about 2:10 p.m. about a 31-year-old Livonia man with a gun near Middlebelt and Five Mile roads. The caller told police that the man was acting erratically. Responding officers made contact with the man, who pointed the gun at an officer. Livonia police say the officer fired his weapon, striking the man. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown. Police say the officer was not injured. Michigan State Police is investigating the shooting.
