Troy offers Spring Clean-Up Week trash collection services
TROY, Ohio (WDTN) — Troy residents can place additional trash items at the curb during Spring Clean-Up Week.
During the week of April 7-11, the city of Troy will relax their trash collection rules to allow residents to remove yard waste and additional trash free of charge.

The Solid Waste Division will collect bagged trash exceeding the capacity of resident trash carts when doing their regular trash collection schedules. Residents should place additional bags a few feet away from the cart so that the trash trucks can still empty the carts.
Cardboard, loose trash and boxes will not be accepted. to see guidelines on what can be collected.
Residents can also dispose of brush and yard waste during Spring Clean-Up Week. Brush and branches do not need to be bundled or bagged, simply placed at the curb. Grass clippings and leaves must be placed into a biodegradable bag.
All extra trash to be collected should be placed at the curb during your regular collection day. Any yard waste or trash placed out after your regular collection day will be picked up the following week and must comply with the standard collection rules.

Child flown to hospital following Greene Co. crash
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A juvenile was flown to the hospital after a crash in Greene County Thursday evening. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Xenia Post is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 7 p.m. in the 4200 block of Hussey Road. Investigation revealed a 2021 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence and hit a child in the front yard. OSP dispatchers confirmed one child was flown to Dayton Children's with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Xenia Post at this time. Recycle unwanted appliances during event this weekend
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Those looking to get rid of large appliances can recycle them during an event this weekend. The Montgomery County Environmental Services is hosting an Appliance Amnesty weekend. Unwanted appliances will be taken for free with proof of residency at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility. WPAFB working to combat forever chemicals, water contamination
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base officials gave 2 NEWS an inside look at efforts to combat forever chemicals in their water. Wright-Patt is working to reduce water contamination on base through several water treatment sites. This comes after the EPA updated the maximum PFAS containment levels in 2024. Trump administration moves to roll back Biden-era PFAs water protections PFAS stands for Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, which are synthetic compounds with properties to repel oil, water and other liquids. This water contamination comes from 'film forming foam' used in firefighting, wastewater treatment plants, agricultural runoff and more. The Air Force Base plans to have five treatment sites in total — currently, two are active. WPAFB has treated more than 31 million gallons of water so far.
