Speaking after the Atlas Lions' World Cup qualifier against Tanzania on Tuesday, Morocco's national team coach, Walid Regragui, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance despite what he called «little details» that need improvement.
«We dominated possession, controlling 80% to 90% of the game», Regragui told Arryadia. «We created plenty of chances, and against Niger, we had everything under control. Towards the end, there were some technical errors and a bit of relaxation, which gave them a few opportunities, but overall, we were in command from start to finish».
His comments came in response to criticism of the Atlas Lions' narrow 2-1 win against Niger.

Regarding Tuesday's 2-2 draw against Tanzania, Regragui said: «We built this victory step by step. In the first half, the opposing team ran a lot, and we knew they would tire in the second half. That's where we had the advantage. We secured a 2-0 win, scored four goals in two matches, and maintained a perfect 15/15 points. We're progressing well, and I'm very happy with the players. We are now 99% closer to World Cup qualification».
Responding to further criticism of the team's performance in both matches, Regragui defended his squad's approach:
«We have built a strong team. Everything is going well, but if I had to go into details, I'd say we could have been more clinical in the first half, attacking more centrally. But strategically, we allowed them to run, knowing that in African football, exhausting the opposition is key. Just like against Niger, once they were tired in the second half, we took control and scored. The first goal always opens up the game and makes everything easier».
He expressed pride in his players, particularly given the challenges they faced:
«I'm extremely proud of the players, especially considering that many of them are competing in the Champions League and Europa League. Despite fasting during Ramadan, they did what was required and secured six crucial points».
Regragui also emphasized the team's long-term goals: «We already have a solid team, and we are building it to peak at the Africa Cup of Nations. One of our key objectives was World Cup qualification. It's not official yet, but we've achieved six consecutive wins in the AFCON qualifiers and five straight victories in the World Cup qualifiers. That's something to celebrate».

Hakimi, LeBlanc Pendant Speaks to Moroccan Hearts and Heritage

Doha – Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi and renowned jewelry designer Mimia LeBlanc have joined forces to create a distinctive pendant honoring their shared Moroccan heritage. The collaboration and product were officially revealed on May 21. The jewelry piece features a traditional Moroccan door design with the map of Morocco carefully carved inside. This distinctive creation represents more than mere adornment—it stands as a tribute to Moroccan culture, craftsmanship, and natural beauty. 'Conceived with pride, crafted with love, and inspired by Morocco's eternal soul,' LeBlanc described the piece on her Instagram account. The announcement included a promotional video showcasing Morocco's cities, traditions, craftsmanship, and natural landscapes, with Hakimi proudly wearing the necklace throughout. The collaboration represents a powerful fusion of athletic excellence and artistic craftsmanship. It brings together the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player and the respected jewelry creator in a project deeply rooted in their cultural identity. Hakimi's involvement extended far beyond lending his name to the project. The international right-back participated actively throughout the creative process, from initial sketches to selecting materials. Every element was carefully considered through ongoing dialogue between the athlete and the designer. LeBlanc, known for her meticulous attention to detail, transformed their shared vision into a tangible ornament that balances traditional Moroccan motifs with contemporary design elements. Her craftsmanship brings together the heritage of the past with modern sensibilities. The pendant represents a meaningful symbol of cultural identity rather than a mere fashion accessory. It speaks to Moroccans both at home and abroad, connecting generations through beauty and memory. This collaboration shows a trend where partnerships transcend commercial interests to create something profoundly personal. The Hakimi-LeBlanc jewelry piece demonstrates how luxury and authenticity can coexist, with Morocco serving as a source of creative inspiration. The campaign has electrified audiences worldwide, transforming a simple adornment into a celebration of Moroccan identity and cultural pride. Just days after this jewelry launch, Hakimi cemented his legendary status by helping PSG secure their first-ever Champions League title with a commanding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan on May 31, further elevating his profile as both an athletic and cultural icon. Brahim Diaz will miss the next two friendly matches for the Atlas Lions against Tunisia and Benin, confirmed the national team's doctor, Christophe Boudoux, who also noted that Abdessamad Ezzalzouli's status remains «very uncertain». «Diaz will be absent. To be clear, his injury is not recoverable», Dr. Boudoux stated in a short video published on the Moroccan Royal Football Federation's (FRMF) YouTube channel. Additionally, the team doctor mentioned an «agreement reached» with Club Bruges to rest Chemsdine Talbi while determining the exact nature of his injury. Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saïss, and Noussair Mazraoui are also sidelined due to injuries. The friendlies against Tunisia and Benin are scheduled for June 6 and 9 at the Fès Sports Complex.

Morocco, UK Sign MoU in Support of 2030 FIFA World Cup Organization

Morocco and the United Kingdom signed, on Monday 02 June in Salé, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the organization of the 2030 World Cup. Signed by the Moroccan Minister Delegate for the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, this agreement marks a new milestone in the dynamic bilateral cooperation in the fields of sports, infrastructure, and economic development. This initiative aligns with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has made sport a pillar of influence, openness, and sustainable development. Through this MoU, the United Kingdom expresses its commitment to mobilize its technical expertise, its business ecosystem, and its support capabilities to contribute to the success of this major project. Both parties agreed to work closely on a range of initiatives, particularly concerning stadiums, transport infrastructure, and services related to the management of international events. This mutual commitment reflects a shared ambition: to make the 2030 World Cup a sporting, logistical, and human success—one that fosters economic opportunities and sustainable partnerships, in line with universal values of solidarity, excellence, and inclusion.
