Do the Phoenix Suns really want to trade for Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis? After seeing how poorly he was able to play in yet another postseason, there is a certain contingent of Celtics fans who are more than ready to ship out the Latvian center at the first available opportunity. But Porzingis has real value when he is able to take the court, and his recent viral malady was as rare of an issue as his ankle injury from the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
Add in the fact that he is currently on a $30.7 million expiring deal that could solve Boston's cap crunch concerns by literally doing nothing, and KP has value to the Celtics on multiple levels -- including the fact that Boston has a dearth of high level big men under contract, and that they could also save money AND keep Porzingis by renegotiating an extension with him. Can the Suns put together an offer that would beat those pluses for the Celtics?
The folks behind the "WEEI Boston's Sports Original" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Jones and Keefe" show to talk it all over. Check it out below!

On Friday, Meta announced the upcoming launch of its newest smart glasses, part of a collaboration with Oakley. The Oakley Meta HSTN will be available for preorder starting July 11 and they'll retail for $499. A press release states, "Our first product for athletes and fans alike, Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced HOW-stuhn), based on the HSTN style of Oakley glasses, combines bold aesthetics with cutting-edge tech." Meta calls the new wearable AI Performance Glasses, and they have some key differences from the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses that are already available. Some of the key upgrades with the Meta Oakley glasses include: A longer battery life: Eight hours (or 19 hours on standby). An improved camera: The smart glasses offer Ultra HD 3K video. Onboard AI assistant: Users can 'get answers to a range of questions.' Credit: Meta Like the Meta Ray-Bans, the new glasses will have an IPX4 water resistance rating and come with a charging case. Users can use the Bluetooth smart glasses to listen to music, take pictures, and record video. We knew these glasses were coming, and Meta finally unveiled its collaboration with Oakley in a splashy video campaign on Friday. The video featured athletes such as Stephen Curry and Kylian Mbappé, as well as several surfers and skateboarders. In the promo video, Curry says, 'This is gonna change everything.' That's a bold, hyperbolic claim, but in line with comments made by Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is a big believer in smart glasses — the founder has even predicted this technology will one day replace mobile phones. Zuckerberg has been the biggest booster of Meta's smart glasses, and he often wears the glasses during panels and events. Like other leading tech companies, Meta is investing heavily in its smart glasses tech. Samsung and Google are both working on their own smart glasses technology, both separately and together. Apple is also rumored to be exploring smart glasses. Opens in a new window Credit: Meta Oakley Meta HSTN AI Performance Glasses $499 at Meta Preorders start July 11 Learn More

Watch: Tennis star Jannik Sinner, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli release song
June 20 (UPI) -- Top-ranked tennis star Jannik Sinner and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli collaborated on a new song titled "Polvere e Gloria," which they released Friday. The song, which translates to "Dust and Glory," features Bocelli's renowned vocals while Sinner delivers speaking lines focused on advice for others. A YouTube video of the production showed Sinner standing alongside Bocelli as he sang and played the piano at a studio in Tuscany. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," Sinner and Bocelli wrote in social media posts about the experience. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, who lost to No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain earlier this month in the French Open men's singles final, was upset by No. 45 Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in the Round of 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in Halle, Germany. "Now taking a few days off before Wimbledon -- one week to reset and prepare," Sinner wrote Friday on social media. "See you all soon."

Brian Windhorst drops Grizzlies ‘rebuild' truth bomb on Desmond Bane trade
The post Brian Windhorst drops Grizzlies 'rebuild' truth bomb on Desmond Bane trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. In what was shocking news on a Sunday morning, the Memphis Grizzlies traded Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in what has many debating the direction of the team. While some have said the Grizzlies should blow it all up and rebuild, one who echoed the same sentiments was ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst. Advertisement Trading Bane to Orlando, Memphis got back in return Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round picks, and one first-round pick swap. When Windhorst gave his initial reactions to the news, he would say on 'SportsCenter' that the deal is a 'rebuild trade.' 'What does this mean for the Grizzlies? This is now what is being asked in the league, because this is a rebuild trade,' Windhorst said. 'While Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has proven to be a key piece of a championship contender twice in his career, last season did not look like that, and he has gotten older and has a big contract.' 'So this is a trade where the Grizzlies are pivoting a little bit, and it's not an insane thing,' Windhorst continued. 'Because if you look at the Western Conference, and you look at how tough it is to compete, and you look at what Memphis thinks about their hand, it may be the time to do a little bit of a pivot. There's not almost anybody in the Western Conference who is really rebuilding right now; everyone's kind of got the gas put down.' Brian Windhorst on Grizzlies' future with Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. Petre Thomas-Imagn Images After the Bane trade, many are wondering what the Grizzlies will do with Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., since the deal could signal a rebuilding process. Windhorst would ponder the same quarry as he mentioned how both Morant and Jackson are extension-eligible this summer. Advertisement 'And so what this means is the next question is, what about Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr? And I don't know the answer to this,' Windhorst said. 'The whole league is now going to investigate this. We haven't heard from the Grizzlies yet, and if I was at the Grizzlies press conference…I'd be asking, do you intend to extend Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr, both of whom are extension-eligible this summer? Is that what you're doing now? Or are you pivoting the franchise? So to me, that's the big story emanating out of this trade.' At any rate, Memphis is looking to improve after finishing with a 48-34 record, which put them eighth in the Western Conference as they were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
