Ian Piper steps up to lead Holland past English High in City League boys' championship
The win capped a 12-0 run through the city for Holland (formerly Burke), and marked its third city title in four years after falling to Charlestown in the title game a season ago.
'When you put so much emphasis on those two [Fenton and Banks], Ian is more than capable,' said Chapman. 'They played a 2-3 zone, which we knew they'd do coming in, and we needed a middle guy to relieve that... their game plan backfired because [Piper] just got shot after shot after shot in the middle.'

Despite all of the attention, Banks' overwhelming size still proved too much for English (13-10) to overcome on both ends.
Banks finished with 16 points and 18 rebounds, and was named tournament MVP.

While English lost its two previous meetings to Holland (17-3) this season, 71-54 and 80-37, respectively, the Eagles kept things tight with the Bulldogs in the first half.
Senior Edgar Escano led English with 12 points, and hit big shots early in the first and third quarters to keep the game within reach.
But after opening the second half on a 7-2 run to trim Holland's lead,39-32, the Bulldogs' rebounding edge and suffocating defense began to wear down the Eagles.
By the end of the third quarter, Holland led, 55-39, and the game was out of reach.
'I think it was the press. I think [English] was getting a little more tired than us,' said Chapman. 'English did a really good job in the first half without pressure, the second half, they started turning it over.'
While the City League title marked an important step, the Bulldogs' bigger aspirations lie in the upcoming Division 4 state tournament, where they will be the top seed.

'We've been focused all year,' said Chapman. 'This win is just something that we accomplished on the way. The goal is, clearly, to go finish this thing off [in the state tournament]. It's going to be hard, but I think I like our chances if we play the right way.'

Eagles star A.J. Brown offers an open invitation to QBs in Philadelphia and New Jersey Eagles All-Pro quarterback took to social media to offer an open invitation to local quarterbacks from Jersey and Philly for throwing sessions Call this premature. Call it a theory expressed in error, but don't be surprised if others agree. A.J. Brown is already a Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Famer, but his next few seasons in the City of Brotherly Love could determine whether or not we're discussing more. Canton isn't out of the question. He may not be a shoo-in yet, but we might be when his playing days are over. His resume already consisted of his addition to the Pro Football Writers Association's All-Rookie Team in 2019. He landed on a Pro Bowl roster with the Tennessee Titans in 2020, but once he arrived in Philly, things reached supernova. Brown has gone from being seen as a very good player to being one of the best in the game at his position. He and DeVonta Smith make up the game's best one-two punch at wide receiver, and yes, the guys in Cincinnati and Miami were considered when making that declaration. Since his trade to Philadelphia in 2022, Brown has landed on two more Pro Bowl rosters (2022, 2023). He was snubbed last season, but that's okay. He can bask in the glow of a Second-Team All-Pro nod, his third. He's won that honor during each of the past three seasons. Brown is a Super Bowl champion, and when his time is up, who knows what he may have accomplished? The best part is that he has never lost his humility. That was most recently evidenced by a recent invitation he offered on social media. A.J. Brown is looking for a quarterback in the Philly and New Jersey area to work out with him this summer. Don't restart your cellular devices or your tablets. There's no need to check the resolution or the speed of your laptop. Your internet isn't lagging. This isn't a drill. A.J. Brown is looking for a quarterback from Philadelphia or New Jersey to work out with him during the summer. He offered an open invitation through his Instagram account. Fingers are crossed that the local news outlets and radio stations don't twist this and try to present it as some issue he has with his teammates. Let's hope the more appropriate angle is focused on instead. This is a recent Super Bowl winner who has already expressed that his desire to compete outweighs his achievements. That's why this city and fan base love A.J. and why it may not be inappropriate to believe that his bust may be carved one day and placed in the hallowed ground better known as the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Ohio.
