Viktor Gyokeres 'tells friends and family his next club' after Arsenal and Manchester United bids
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly told friends and family that he will sign for Arsenal this summer. The Sporting striker is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war this summer and the Gunners are right in the mix to lure the former Coventry forward back to England. Advertisement LIVE BLOG: All the latest transfer news and rumours Standard Sport understands that Arsenal are in talks with both Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko over a summer deal, before making a decision on one as Mikel Arteta closes in on his much-desired striker. Manchester United are also interested in Gyokeres, who has made no secret of his desire to leave Sporting this summer after two prolific seasons. Sporting are demanding at least €70million (£59.6m) to begin negotiations over a fee, and reports last week suggested that Arsenal are now clear favourites to sign Gyokeres despite seeing an opening bid worth €55m (£47m) reportedly rejected. Advertisement Gyokeres has set his sights on playing Champions League football, which has led to him 'officially rejecting' United and a reunion with former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim. There were suggestions from Gyokeres' camp that the player and Sporting has a 'gentleman's agreement' to sell for around £59m, which prompted a remarkable denial from club president, Frederico Varandas aimed at Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya. Even so, talkSPORT report on Thursday that Gyokeres' confidence is so high that he has told friends and family that he expects to be an Arsenal player next season.

Viktor Gyokeres 'officially rejects' Manchester United as Arsenal 'prepare second bid'
Viktor Gyokeres has "officially" rejected Manchester United and a reunion with former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim, after Arsenal reportedly made their interest clear. That's according to Portuguese outlet Record, who report on Saturday morning that United have been made aware of Gyokeres' decision to snub a move to Old Trafford after talks with the player's agents. Advertisement LIVE BLOG: All the latest transfer news and rumours With Sporting demanding at least €70million (£59.6m) to begin negotiations over a fee, Record express doubts United could afford to sign Gyokeres ahead of the likes of Arsenal. United have already spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha and hope to also add Bryan Mbeumo, who could cost even more with Tottenham now in the mix. 'The footballer's agents have officially told Ruben Amorim's club that he is no longer an option for the striker,' Record reports. 'United made several contacts over the last week, as we wrote, but with Arsenal's advance, this possibility lost strength and, in the last few hours, it has fallen away completely. (London Standard) 'The Red Devils made an offer to the Swede but did not present arguments capable of convincing him. Gyökeres prefers Arsenal, who are preparing a second offer, after Sporting rejected 55+10. Advertisement 'Although they had not completely ruled out United up until this stage, the player's representatives never considered the Manchester club as a priority option.' Arsenal are now thought to be clear favourites to sign Gyokeres, though the club retain interest in Benjamin Sesko for their vacant striker spot. The Gunners and RB Leipzig have been in talks for some time over a deal before reports of a rejected bid for Gyokeres emerged. A second bid is now reportedly incoming from Arsenal.

Viktor Gyokeres 'has Arsenal change of heart' after Manchester United contact
Viktor Gyokeres has had a change of heart over joining Arsenal this summer, with Manchester United now in pole position to sign the Sporting striker. The striker is expected to leave Portugal this summer and is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between the two Premier League giants. Advertisement LIVE BLOG: All the latest transfer news and rumours It was reported earlier in June that Gyokeres had "officially" rejected United and a reunion with former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim following Arsenal making their interest clear. Portuguese outlet Record claimed that United have been made aware of Gyokeres' decision to snub a move to Old Trafford after talks with the player's agents. Winner: Viktor Gyokeres (REUTERS) Gyokeres was then said to have told friends and family that he will sign for Arsenal this summer, despite the Gunners being in talks with both Sporting and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko over summer deals, before making a decision on one. Advertisement Standard Sport understands that Sporting are demanding at least €70million (£59.6m) to begin negotiations over a fee, and recent reports suggested that Arsenal were clear favourites to sign Gyokeres despite seeing an opening bid worth €55m (£47m) reportedly rejected. But The Mirror now claim that United are back in the frame, and seen by some as the most likely destination for Gyokeres despite being unable to offer Champions League football. Arsenal are currently wrapping up deals for Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, for a combined £15million, and are expected to step up moves for a striker next week after the PSR deadline passes on June 30. The Gunners are said by some to favour Sesko, who could also prove a cheaper option with Sporting digging in their heels over an asking price for Gyokeres. Advertisement That has reportedly led Gyokeres to reassess other options, of which United is the most prominent. The Mirror report that intermediaries have made contact on the player's behalf to inform United of his change of heart and that is ready to move to Old Trafford.
